The Ninth Secret Bureau chapter 0 p2

Chapter 0 “Prologue Part 2”

Unscientific, that’s the best way to describe the speed of Gold Happy when he’s at work. From the monitoring CCTV footage provided by the Lin Family from the incident, the authorities saw that it took no more than two seconds to pick each of the five giant locked doors they used for the vault.

Now do you get it? For a big bank, simply pressing in the code for the passworded lock would amount to ten seconds or more on average. On top of that, the vault mentioned in this crime used a fingerprint system. How did he type in the code and find a fake fingerprint on top of that? That’s a question none of the conventional viewers could answer. In the end, only seven of the stolen artifacts ever resurfaced and were sold to a wealthy businessman in the United Kingdom.

But the trail didn’t go cold of course. After getting wind of this shameful failure on the police department, the heads of the country finally got involved. To their shock and appalment, they soon noticed something which drew their ire and fury – it’s an item Gold Happy used during his heists.

It must be said, this thief was competent when it came to running. Despite having the full might of the government forces chasing him and intercepting his escape routes at every turn, the old thief never did get caught during his prime. Gradually and surely with age, the extraordinary exploits of Gold Happy disappeared into obscurity as if he’s washed his hands of the profession.

But then came March of this year. No one could’ve imagined this. Finally, after nearly two decades of submerging into the deep ocean of retirement, this legendary thief would willingly become a “guest” of the police station!

The outside world thought he had been arrested against his will, but only the insiders knew the truth. This man, he didn’t get caught. Nope, he came in willingly to the police station!

Several days later.

On March 10, Gold Happy was brought into the interrogation room for the second time after his initial arrest where Zhao Meng, the head of the interrogation unit here was awaiting his arrival with a cigarette in hand.

“Are you people sick or something?” Gold Happy frowns and glowered at the detectives around himself. He’s clearly not excited to be back in this room: “I already told you all didn’t I? I found my consciousness and decided to turn a new leaf. How many times must you people ask this question?”

“It’s not that we don’t believe you, rather it’s we don’t understand why.” Zhao Meng the lead detective frowns as well and shoots a daggerly stare back at the thief king. “What exactly is going through your head? It’s hard to believe a scum like you would turn a new leaf unless there’s a powerful reason.”

Hearing this, Gold Happy openly laughed, but not because of being called a scum though.

“Like I said, I want to turn a new leaf after finding my consciousness. There’s no other reason.” Gold Happy grins cheekily in a prideful manner, “Since I turned myself in, shouldn’t my sentence get some leniency? I’m not going to get the gun, right?”

“Not necessarily the gun, but at the very least a life sentence.” Zhao Meng sneered in return at the dismissive attitude of this washed-up-looking man whom they’ve been chasing for so long.
