Lin Xian’s declaration hung heavily in the air, sending a ripple of tension through everyone present. The Vice President shot up from his seat, his voice tinged with urgency. “Lin Xian, are you certain about this?”

Lin Xian nodded confidently, and the Vice President scrambled forward, clutching a document bag. With careful hands, he drew out an ‘Exclusive Authorization Letter’. “This signature… it’s definitely Professor Xu Yun’s. It’s authentic!”

He pored over the letter with growing excitement. It explicitly transferred all rights and interests in a chemical compound to Lin Xian at no cost, making him the sole decision-maker. The Vice President’s expression turned to one of stunned disbelief as he faced Lin Xian. “Lin… Lin Xian, this letter gives you full rights!”

“It’s merely a preliminary draft,” Lin Xian remarked, downplaying the significance. “Professor Xu Yun has been preoccupied and delegated this to me.”

“He trusts us to use it first. We’ll revise the formal documents when he has the time.”

This clarification settled over the room, making sense of the situation and earning Lin Xian nods of respect for securing Professor Xu Yun’s endorsement and averting a crisis at MX Company.

“It’s too generous of you all,” Lin Xian modestly brushed off the wave of praise from the team leaders and the Vice President, insisting his contribution was minor. However, his humility only fueled their admiration, and applause filled the meeting room for a prolonged period.

The R&D team leader, engrossed in thick stacks of research data and notes, eventually looked up to confirm, “It’s all accurate, Ms. Zhao. This includes the chemical’s preparation and safety measures… It aligns perfectly with our initial findings. We can proceed with all prior approvals and ensure the product launch is on track.”

In moments, the meeting room’s atmosphere had transformed completely. A surge of renewed energy propelled everyone, their morale skyrocketing as they prepared to dive back into their work with renewed vigor.

On the 22nd floor, Zhao Ying Jun leaned back in her office chair, addressing Lin Xian across the desk. “You’ve not only resolved a major issue for the company but for me personally as well. I can’t thank you enough.”

Lin Xian shook his head, playing down his role. “I didn’t do much, honestly. Perhaps Professor Xu Yun places a lot of trust in our mentor-mentee relationship.”

Zhao Ying Jun’s smile held a hint of mystery. “I just spoke with Professor Xu Yun, and his account doesn’t quite match your version at the meeting…”

As Lin Xian started to explain, Zhao Ying Jun cut him off, “He made me promise not to delve into your matters. No need for explanations, Lin Xian. I’m not one to pry.”

She continued, “He sent me to finalize a formal commercial authorization contract with you.”

“Whether you choose to grant these rights to MX Company or to others in the future, you hold complete control over this compound.”

“MX Company will compensate you with a one-time fee and ongoing royalties based on sales,” she added, sliding a contract across to him and pointing to the line for his signature. “If you agree, please sign here. It will be effective immediately.”

Lin Xian reviewed and signed the document swiftly. Zhao Ying Jun, observing him closely, questioned, “What are your plans moving forward? Start your own licensing business or retire to a life of leisure?”

“I haven’t really planned anything…” Lin Xian confessed. “I’ve actually become quite fond of working on the Rhine Cat project. If possible, I would like to continue leading this team.”

Zhao Ying Jun’s smile widened. “That sounds perfect, though there might be a few changes later. With your vast contributions, we can’t just let that go unrecognized.”

After Lin Xian finished signing, Zhao Ying Jun stamped both contracts and handed one back to him. “Do you have a safe in your office?”

“No,” Lin Xian responded, recalling only the finance and Vice President’s offices had safes.

“I’ll arrange for one to be installed,” she said, making a call. “Keep these documents, the contract, and the authorization letter locked up. Losing them would cause serious issues.”

“That’s all for now. You can return to your work,” she concluded.

With the heavy security door closing loudly behind him, Lin Xian left the office. He sighed, wondering about his continued involvement with the Genius Club. Staying with this company kept him connected to that circle.

Two days later, several employees from a safe company arrived at his door. “Hello, Mr. Lin.”

They installed a meter-tall steel safe. “This uses a dual-lock system, needing both a key and a dial to open. It’s very secure,” one employee explained, handing him the keys.

“What if I lose the key or forget the combination?” Lin Xian inquired.

“If you lose the key, a locksmith might help, but if you forget the combination, opening it would be nearly impossible,” the employee chuckled. “Its internal mechanisms are quite complex.”

Lin Xian tapped the safe thoughtfully. “And if I forget? What if the contents are vital?”

The employee scratched his head, “Well, there’s one last option…”
