Chapter 2 “Fire part 2”

The fire burned like a demon climbing out of hell tonight. It tore apart the hospital despite the efforts of all the departments involved. For several hours, the raging beast rose and climbed until the flame could be seen all the way into the core of the city. Only then did the fire finally die out at around eleven that night.
Standing by the ruins, Idle carefully sniffed the moist charred air that was coming off of the ruins of this hospital. There are wood and cement for sure mixed in there, but the most pungant would be the human flesh and oil. It’s so offensive that it’s making his nose itch uncomfortably.
“How many people died in this hospital? The smell of death is absurdly overwhelming….”
Compared to Idle who’s standing on one side like it’s nothing, Fatty Ho was obviously very busy running around communicating with the other departments. Eventually, all unrelated personnel was evacuated, leaving only Fatty Ho and his subordinates outside the hospital ground.
“You going in with me?” Fatty Ho says and came before Idle to offer a bottle of mineral water.
Gladly accepting the gesture, he unscrewed the lid and took a big gulping before givinv the thumbs up.
“Chief, let me bring some of us with you.” Zhang Hai was one of those in the know so he’s wary of letting his superior go in alone with a stranger.
Letting a heaviness show, the fatty pauses before nodding eventually. He knows what his subordinate was hinting at. “Alright, gather up everyone! Suit up and carry out your assigned posts. I want no one escaping tonight!”
Before, when the fire department fought the flames, he had stressed repeatedly that none of the personnel could go inside for rescue operations. One being the criminals were unknowns, the second the dangers involved. He had no reason to sacrifice others for this case.
But what exactly was in the hospital though to make him so afraid? The answer to this question remains a unknown to the fatty even to this moment.
But one thing’s for sure though, it’s no ordinary hospital and very dangerous. Gold Happy’s death was the best evidence of that.
At the same time while Fatty Ho and his men were preparing for the next stage of their mission, Idle went ahead to take a stroll around the outer perimeter of the charred ruins. It’s like he’s searching for something because every dozen or so steps he took, Idle would stop and look over to the hospital.
By the time he returned to the original spot, the men had all changed out of their original gears.
Everyone was wearing a special “vest” from the department, armed belts around their waists and pistol holsters on their legs, several of whom were still holding video recorders as if to record the situation inside.
It’s not the first time Idle dealt with these people from the Secret Bureau so he knew a little bit about the equipment.
