The Ninth Secret Bureau chapter 1 p5

Chapter 1 “Chen Idle part 5”

So why the added attention for the latter? Well, their abilities are all different and varied greatly. Though most would awaken before they become adults, there are known cases of late bloomers occurring nevertheless. Also, even among these naturals, they’re usually only equipped with a higher sensory ability to perceive their surroundings without proper development.

Take a common natural without knowledge of his own ability for example. It’s often known they would have the Yin Yang eye, or ghost eye in the west capable of seeing ghosts while their peers remained oblivious.

And of course, being a natural comes with many perks. One of the most noticeable would be they’re very talented in learning the mystic arts. Several hundred times better than the common person in fact, thus making them the so called “geniuses” found in all those cultivation novels.

Because of this, the natural meta humans are prized employees of the Secret Bureau. Even among Fatty Ho’s coworkers, there’s only around a hundred that are in this category.

“You’re so young and already a high-level temp agent…. I assume you’re a natural?” That said, the fatty skimmed over the living room for any clues as to Idle’s religion or school.

There are no statues of worship, no pictures of gods, nor trinkets to indicate his spellcraft. In essence, the place looked like an ordinary home used by ordinary people. It’s abnormally clean and tidy.

“So what school or spellcraft are you practicing?” Fatty Ho asked.

Regardless of whether they are natural or not, both types would still need to find a path to follow somewhere down the line. Knowledge was power, and power was knowledge. If one wants to grow stronger, they would eventually need join something to help them hone that talent.

“None.” Idle casually smiled and rubbed his nose shyly, “I’m stating this now, I don’t know how to read fortune or shoot a fireball like those sorcerers, I only know how clean up those dirty things in your line of work. Also, I will only take work strictly in that regard and nothing else.”

“Only cleaning?” Fatty Ho shuddered and asked with an incredulous voice, “What background do you come from exactly?”

“I have no school or religious background, nor am I a magic user.”

Twitching in the mouth, Fatty Ho spent a good minute to gather his thoughts: “So it’s passed down from your ancestors?”

“Self-taught.” Idol quipped.

“WTF!” Fatty Ho nearly choked from the blood gurgling in his throat. He’s beet red and at a loss for word. “You are one hell of a guy you know that?”

Blushing with embarrassment, Idle chuckles like a green child that doesn’t know the harshness of this world. That appearance alone was enough to ease the fatty’s jealous heart.

“So it’s possible to self-teach yourself in something like that?” Fatty Ho makes a rare grin like he’s playing with a kid, “Wanna give me some details on how you clean them?”

Hearing the question, Idle answered without hesitation. “I’ll curse and scold them once we meet. If I catch one then I’ll beat them. If they won’t listen even after that then I’ll eat them.”

“……”

Fatty Ho got all quiet for several seconds before speaking in a cautious voice: “Are you sure we’re on the same topic? That we’re still talking about the same thing?”

Idle didn’t say a word, only giving a reassuring nod.

“Have you eaten them before?” The fatty asked again with a wary face.

Showing his teeth in the smile, Idle puts on a jolly face like he’s proud of his past deeds.

“I’ve eaten a lot already, but most of it doesn’t taste good or have no flavor at all. White rice tastes better in my opinion.”

Seeing the young man wasn’t joking around, Fatty Ho didn’t know what to do. Holding the cigarette in hand, he snuffed the embering bud against the ashtray and got up.

“The hospital is already surrounded by my people. We have no confirmation of anyone fleeing yet so you can come with me now. If what you claim is true… I will have to rely on you for protection in this case.”

“Understood, a bodyguard job.” Idle flew into joy.

“About right…” Not waiting for Fatty Ho to finish, the old styled phone in his pocket suddenly burst into a ring and caused the owner to jerk. Quickly flipping it open to answer, “What’s going on?”

On the other side of the phone was the guy’s subordinate going by the name of Zhang Hai, he’s in charge of watching the hospital.

“Chief! Something’s happened!”

Zhang Hai’s rough burly voice rocked the phone like a trumpeting blast. It’s so loud that even Idle could hear it despite not being on speaker mode.

“The hospital is on fire!”
