Chapter 496 “Feng Shen’s Childhood (2)”
“No Ling Yue, I want you to know about my past. Just like how I want to know about you, I want to share what I have.”
“Do you still have memories of your mother, and your cold disease, how did you catch it?” This was a good opportunity then because Ling Yue had long wanted to figure out the cause of the boy’s sickness.
“My parents are both good people. Feng Lancang is my father’s name, he’s our North Qing’s widely recognized Wargod due to his undefeated history on the battlefield. But at home, my old man was nothing more than a doting husband who loves pampering his wife. And my mother, she’s the king’s younger sister, Princess Qing Feng and undeniable mistress of the Phoenix Manor. Due to my father’s absence, it was always my mother who oversaw the household businesses and matters.” Upon recalling his childhood, Feng Shen’s voice definitely became sadder like he’s reminiscing the past.
“At the time my mother was already six months into her pregnancy, so, my father promised to return no later than a month in order to make it for her labor. Sure enough, he did as he said and the news of his grand victory came back loud and clear. But In order to see him sooner, my mother took me along with her to the Seven Star Pavilion where she planned to meet up with my father. Sadly, that’s when tragedy struck. Along the way, a group of rebels suddenly ambushed us and seriously injured my mother because she was trying to protect me.” When reaching this point in the story, the boy’s voice clearly grew much lower as if he was thrust back into that dreaded night of raining horror.
“Son, you must stay hidden. No matter what happens afterwards you are to not make a sound, remember! The Phoenix Edict is our family’s greatest treasure, you must keep it on you at all times.” Dripping with blood down her legs, the beautiful woman won’t last long, nor would the baby in her belly.

Because of how intense the incident was, the child version of the boy at the time had already lost his wits. Adding in the dreadful appearance of his mother, Feng Shen could do nothing when his mother gave him that final kiss on the forehead before the pursuers caught up with them from behind.
“Princess Qing Feng, you can’t escape tonight. I’ll tell you the truth so you can stop resisting, your husband the Phoenix Lord has already been killed by us along the road. If you know what’s best for you then hand over the Phoenix Edict.”
That was the crushing blow to the last glimmer of hope within the child’s heart, Papa is dead, no, noo~
The boy’s first instinct was to run out of his hiding spot to act as the shield between the enemy, but the last remnant of reason told him otherwise.
“This is only a job for us Princess Qing Feng. Hurry and hand over the Phoenix Edict, then we will at least leave your body and unborn baby intact. Otherwise, keke, our brothers here wouldn’t mind having a taste of a North Qing’s princess.” After that last comment, the men behind the leading shadow all issued out a disgusting laugh of malicious intent.
That finally did it. Though small and frail himself, Feng Shen had no fear in that second when he dashed out of hiding.
If Papa isn’t around anymore then I must protect Mother. I am a man, I must do what a man must do!

Thank you for the chapter!!!
This author seriously pisses me off. The first 300 chapters, we have a strong female. Previously retarded, yet from those origins she fiercely cultivates with her newly acquired strength, develops her family, weeds out powerful enemies and even sets up her own sect. Up to this point she’s an awesome female character for this genre. Next 100 chapters, completely loses her fierceness and her brilliant mind to be either toyed with mentally and forcefully ravaged over an over or playing lovey dovey with the so-called nice guy that also forcefully ravages her. Wtf? Did the author switch out main characters at some point and I just didn’t realize? And again what’s with this huge change in plot?! Where’s the cultivation, growing stronger in business and status, dominating enemies any of what we started reading this for? Wtf is up with this wishy-washy lovey-dovey yet vulgar romance novel? When’s it gonna end and go back to what it started as? If anyones read ahead please lmk so i can either drop this or be patient a little bit longer(thanks). The story has veered far too far from where it began and no longer has any interest for me.
I do agree with you on this point and i can say the author will soon realize that too.
As the the translator and prob the most reliable source of info here, I will take ur word for it:) Thanks!
Sighs. I just cooked a scramble egg because of this. Lol
Oh i do understand your comments because i also felt this is not the same one from the earlier chapters. Lol it is totally fine for me now. I still want to know how this story progressed. XD
It’s not that difficult to guess who’s the one behind the attack
Meh, how dull also seems his sibling was killed then
Thank you!
