Chapter 9 “The Underground Elevator Part 2”

No more than a minute had passed when he came back out and passed the horde.
“How is it inside?” Fatty Ho appears anxious and sweaty like he just endured a crisis, “Is there any clues on the key?”
“There are no clues for the time being.” Idle shakes his head, “There is an elevator in there, it leads underground. I don’t know what it’s for exactly.”
Naturally the special agent became surprised by this discovery. Turning his fatty self to stare across the yard, he found this place freakier by the second.
Psychiatric hospital, ancient key, rising dead…. How do one even link any of this together?!
“You come with me, we will take a look together.” Idle said and caused the fatty to pause in hesitation.
Secretly inside, Fatty Ho really didn’t want to be here after all he’s witnessed. The only reason he’s able to keep his wits in order was years of experience and a duty to his job. Gathering his nerves, he takes a deep breath and nodded before following.
The process of passing through the horde of undead was boring. Nevertheless, the fatty remained tense throughout the trip. It wasn’t until they were inside and had the door closed and locked did the guy ease up.
“I saw you standing outside the door for a while before, were you looking for something?” Fatty Ho suddenly asks.
Logically, when patient thirteen appeared, the special agent should’ve been able to see her as well from his position. Unfortunately, the spot where Idle was standing happens to coincide with his point of view, thus blocking the whole event. Meaning he didn’t see the slender arm stretching out of the metal door, nor the dean’s half-destroyed head being tossed away like garbage due to its low negativity.
“Didn’t I mention it to you before? It’s that special patient.” Idle approached the old elevator and carefully studied it some more, “The disaster here is caused by her it seems, and she also showed herself.”
“What did she look like?” Fatty Ho hurriedly asks, his curiosity piqued as well. There’s no way he wouldn’t be; after all, to be able to destroy this freakish hospital and strike fear into the dean’s ghost was not a feat easily achieved by anyone or anything.
“Likely humanlike.” Idle casually replies, his hand already raised and pressing the elevator’s button.
Accompanied by a complex mechanical sound, the iron-barred gate of the old century slowly slid to one side and gave way.
“You want to go down and investigate?” He asks the fatty for his opinion.
“Uhh, yes….” Fatty Ho eventually nods, “How many floors do you want to go?”
“The deepest of course.” Idle cocks a reassuring grin, “From the bottom up, we might be able to find that key you want so much.”
Getting excited at the prospect, Fatty Ho agrees in earnest that they should start from the bottom. Since there’s an underground facility of this scale, there must be a reason for it.
On the elevator, Idle pressed the button for the twenty-first floor and activated the mechanical gears. The construct vibrated heavily like a creaking fossil; nevertheless, it began to roll downwards as per its purpose.
The descent moved very slowly, which also created the excellent observation conditions for both of them. This was especially true whenever they reached a different floor, which caused the contraption to halt for a few seconds before continuing on.
They didn’t know what this facility was truly used for; however, what they did grasp with the slight flickering of light from the flashlight told them it’s a living hell on earth. Every floor, every spot, it’s covered in stains of blood, fresh and old. But that’s not the worst, there are human limbs piled up like a mountain!
Imagine a pile of garbage stacked into a mound and the foul fluid leaked into the earth. This was the exact same scenario. Instead of it being garbage ooze, this was human blood and excrement.
They assumed there were only around several hundred victims here in the hospital, but this number of dead bodies exceeded that by a large margin. In fact, a rough estimate would be in the thousands at the very least. Starting from the first floor down onto the twentieth floor, the pictures were all the same.
Fatty Ho could swear he’s got a strong stomach, but this was simply way too much. About halfway into their ride, the guy had vomited out to the side of the carriage.
“Don’t you feel sick?” Taking out a smoke after his moment, Fatty Ho needed a second to get himself together. “Those corpses are already like this, you….”
Idle didn’t reply, only smiling behind the shadows. His presence could hardly be felt right now due to the dim lamp light. For this, the fatty became a little uncomfortable despite them being partners.
This discomfort continued until they were all the down to the bottom, the very twenty-first floor.
