After completely opening the gate, the panting sound they heard from before also grew louder and more apparent.
“It seems to be in the corridor…” Idle murmurs, ensuring there was no danger ahead before taking the first step with the fatty in tow.
At the first second of crossing this line, both men instinctively made a shiver out of reflex.
“Did you feel anything?” Fatty Ho asked a hinge of panic.
“The temperature seems to have dropped a little,” Idle nods and replies in confirmation.
Fatty Ho hurries to correct himself, “Not that, I just felt something passing around me from the ground. I think it’s a person, but it’s cold, it got past me…”
“Why didn’t I see it?” Idle was stunned by the news.
Among the group of natural-born metahumans, Idle was considered to be in the extraordinary category.
Let’s not say he’s peerless and unbeatable, but he’s very confident in his eyes to catch sight of anything that gets into view. If he wants to find a spiritual body, it would definitely not be a problem so long as they don’t hide behind a brick wall or something.
In this case, he’s made sure there was nothing in the corridor before bringing the fatty forward.
Is there a spirit that I can’t see?
Idle mutters this inside and then recalls the dean he fought before.
“Did we get pulled into the guy’s field again….?” Idle softly mutters, his nose sniffing the air carefully to search for any weirdness he’s omitted.
He then shot the idea down immediately.
The domain created by the dean was damn near perfect, but it did have one grave mistake that he could tell afterward. The smell of the negative particles, though faint and hard to distinct even for his nose, was the one thing the dean couldn’t hide despite trying to conceal the scent.
Initially, Idle assumed the strong whiff of negative particles in the air was from the dead victims here, but that’s false. He was delusioned from the start and didn’t realize that it all came from the dean’s office, but not anymore. So long as he knows this now after beating the dean, he could use this to distinguish an illusion from reality.
This should be real, at least not an illusory scene constructed by the dean.
“Stay alert,” Idle instructs.
Fatty Ho nods silently and clenches his gun.
In this solemn atmosphere, both men slowly moved forward for any danger lurking about until they were standing before the most dangerous space here – the isolated building in the middle of this circular courtyard.
There are only four light sources here, south, east, north, and west. Because they’re only oil lamps, the light was dim and oppressive. However, that’s not the most suffocating part. The most shocking part was the entire yard, it’s covered with people kneeling in a worshipping post.
“So this is it…. I thought the scent was different the second I stepped into the hospital….”
Idle stared at the densely crowded bunch of dead bodies here. Undoubtedly, if they weren’t ready for whatever that might occur, they would surely scream and go mad.
Doctors, nurses, staff, patients.
Before the fire killed them off, all of the living beings in the hospital should’ve came here and kneeled before the yard until they suffocated due to the carbon monoxide.
From the initial count, there are at least four hundred corpses in kneeling position.
“Th-This…. How about we retreat first?” Fatty Ho cautiously asks the young man, afraid to so much as breathe the air due to this intense scene.
He truly felt like being a horror movie right now. The fatty has done a lot of weird cases in the past but never had he seen such massive deaths in one spot. It was beyond mere murder anymore. It’s a damn cult!
What’s more, the panting was coming from these corpses! That’s right, the dead could breathe!
