It’s very humanlike, according to Idle’s initial assessment anyways. The chest rose up and down like human breathing, and the pulsating veins indicated fluids in that body. Yet, the dried bark-like skin told him this was no living person. What’s more, the pungent smell of death was practically oozing out of this being. It’s unmistakable.
What is this thing? It’s definitely a spiritual body, but it’s different compared to the ghost that I have seen before… its more alive somehow?
Looking at the thin and dry figure, Idle mused in silence for a moment to decide what to do. Then raising his feet, he decides to go up and speak with the thing simply.
About what he told Fatty Ho before, the young man didn’t lie at all. He’s not some practictioner of the religious art, nor a user of spellcraft. Whenever he encounters these supernatural things, his only recourse was either verbal communication, physical abuse, or direct consumption. Therefore, he knew what he had to do in order to break this “field”.
“Can you hear me?” Coming before the strange man, Idle waves his open hand before the person’s face to get its attention. It’s stupid to do this, yet he’s not in the slightest bit fearful of being bitten.
Only more paper rustling sound came of his gesture. The strange man didn’t react at all and continued to sink its head into whatever he’s writing.
Now that’s troubling and problematic for Idle. He didn’t like spending time doing a work out section with a ghost, but since verbal communication wasn’t possible, he must get physical then.
“What are you writing that’s so entrancing….” Out of curiosity, Idle leans over to peek at the paper booklet where he saw loads of densely packed words.
“She’s out!” The handwriting was sloppy and conveyed a sense of panic by the writer, “She came out, she came out….”
Idle felt so confused by the exact repeating words.
She came out?
Who is she?
Is it another ghost?
It’s then while he was contemplating on what that meant, the strange man suddenly stopped and caught Idle by surprise by laughing hysterically.
“Sh…. ShSh….” It’s intermittent like that of a psychopath, fluctuating in volume at each syllable.
“Can you hear me?” Idle wants to confirm again and waves his hand before the man’s face.
This time, he got a different response.
Without warning, the dry husk of a creature raised its arm and directly pierced that pen into Idle’s palm.
The whole process was instantaneous to the point he couldn’t react.
“ShSh….” The dry freak continues to laugh wildly as he twists the pen around in Idle’s palm, thus widening the wound and creating a foul fishy smell for some reason.
Feeling this piercing pain, Idle raised his free arm and elbow slammed the freak’s head out of pure instinct.
Boom!!
Letting out an extremely miserable howl as it flew out from the impact, the creature was shockingly nimble. It somehow managed to abruptly regain its balance like a wild cat in mid-air and landed not far away on all four.
