“Maybe I’m overthinking this….” He mutters.
In the middle of the corridor, there was an extremely conspicuous door which was different from the rest. It’s a sense of superiority based on its construct. In fact, this brand-new mahogany door smelled fresh like the paint hadn’t dried yet.
“That should be the dean’s room. Let’s go have a look Idle!” Full of eagerness in his face, Fatty Ho only wants to quickly open the door to see if the “key” was inside.
But compared with his partner though, Idle’s expression wasn’t so fond of entering. It’s oppressive in the air, and his hunch was telling him the danger was growing stronger and stronger the closer they came.
“Perhaps the key is inside…. assuming they didn’t move it….” The fatty was so excited that he began to talk to himself.
Reaching out with his hand, he was ready to turn the doorknob when Idle suddenly stopped him.
“Don’t open the door!”
Hearing that outcry, Fatty Ho subconsciously felt a chill run down his spine. In haste, he lets go of the doorknob and turns to ask: “What’s the matter? Is something wrong?”
“There’s a sound.” Idle whispers.
Quieting down as well, the fatty raises his ears to listen carefully. But it was dead silent in the hallway. To say one could hear the needle drop was no exaggeration.
“Could you have heard it wrong?”
“No mistake, it’s in there.” Idle took a step forward and stuck his ear to the doorway where he heard the sound of paper flipping.
Looks like someone’s writing something in there?
The tip of a pen scribbling against paper wasn’t new to Idle so he’s confident.
“Someone’s in there.” He points at the door with a finger.
“In there?” Fatty Ho gasps with shock on his face.
But the next second Idle decides to shake his head again like he’s uncertain. It’s making them both confused.
“I’ll go in first, you stay alert.” He went ahead and twisted the doorknob. With the sound of a highly crisp mechanical rotation, it swerved opened….
As warned, Fatty Ho didn’t stand idly by and watch either. Instead, he drew his pistol and stood ready to one side in case something jumped out.
It’s dark in the dean’s room.
The curtains were closed so there weren’t any light sources, thus making it terrible in terms of visibility. In fact, it felt like they were walking into the belly of the beast.
“Don’t use a flashlight, I can see it.” Then, right as the fatty wanted to point his flashlight, Idle stopped him with a swift motion of his hand.
Despite having eyes no different from a regular person, he had a special gift to discern objects within the dark for some reason. That’s one of the most significant advantages Idle had.
The dean’s room was elementary and surprisingly narrow according to his assessment. About ten feet in diameter with a single desk at the center. Aside from the leather chair behind it, there’s no other furniture.
And of course, a chair always needed a “person” to sit on it….
This was the main reason Idle didn’t want Fatty Ho to point the flashlight. He’s afraid of startling that creepy thing sitting inside.
The naked man was no more than skin and bones right now as he scribbled something onto a record book with that pen. It’s horrific and deeply disturbing when matched with those pair of empty eye sockets.
It doesn’t seem to be a ghost….
After a moment of observation, Idle could tell this wasn’t an ethereal body, but a physical one. With that knowledge in mind, he stepped further inside without giving the fatty a chance to object.
Unbeknownst to him, the second he stepped through, the exit door had disappeared…..
