Chapter 70
Chapter 71: I Suggest Qian Qi Take More Medicine~
He spoke into the Light-Brain: “Song City Second B Combat Zone, the Qingyuntian Dungeon will erupt in 13 minutes. Estimated five B level Magibeasts, other levels unknown. Go to full battle readiness. Aim at the Dungeon entrance and strike first. Song City First B Combat Zone and Qi City Third B Combat Zone will each send one B level warrior to support. Song City Second and Third D level Combat Zones will reassign half their D level strength to support the Second B Combat Zone. Reply when received. Over.”
Voices replied through the Light-Brain: “Song City Second B Combat Zone chief commander received, over.” “Song City First B Combat Zone second commander received, over.” “Qi City Third B Combat Zone chief commander received, over.” “Song City…”
As the acknowledgments rolled in, he yanked open the hover car door, pushed Qian Qi inside, and told the driver: “Send her back to school. Detour to avoid the Qingyuntian Dungeon.”
She grabbed his arm and asked: “How are you going to the Dungeon?”
“There is a single seat hover car in the rear bay,” he said as he pressed a button. A small hover car popped out of the back compartment.
She started shaking the System again.
Catching her flailing at thin air, he glanced over and asked: “What are you doing?”
She flung the panel aside and said: “…Nothing. I got jealous and went crazy for a second.”
He let it go, stepped into the single seater, and was about to shut the door when she popped back out of the hover car and wedged a hand against it. Digging through her jacket and baggy shorts, she winced, stuffed several packs of Hemostatic Potion into his arms, and said in a low voice: “Senior, these are all I have left. Be careful and come back alive to school…”
Then she shouted the point: “Pay me!”
He fell silent. She really could force a sale anywhere.
He nodded, and she instantly dove back into the hover car and barked at the driver: “Go, go, go. Run for it. If we are any later, my 2,000,000 life is over.”
The hover car lifted and streaked away from the Combat Zone like a black streak.
Inside, she patted herself down and said: “Ah, there are still a few packs, but there is no time.”
The System: […]
It had seen her stuff a lot of Hemostatic Potion on herself this morning and thought she was just scared of death. Turns out she was seizing a chance to pitch her product.
The hover car cruised through the sky. Ten minutes later, the vehicle jolted, and a deep, roaring bellow rolled in from far away. Her heart thudded twice and began to race.
She twisted around to look out the rear window and was stunned by what she saw.
A black giant Magibeast stepped over the mountains. It opened its huge mouth full of fangs and blasted a stream like molten lava. Birds resting in the forest shot up, then the sudden heat cooked them in the air, and they fell in a neat shower to the ground.
Its body was three times taller than the Godzilla she knew. Even at this distance, she could see its rough, fish scale like black hide flexing slightly, and its blood soaked eyes shining with strange colors in the light.
“So that is a B level Magibeast,” she murmured as she stared at the monster that looked strong enough to shatter humans with a single sound wave: “What kind of bond could make something this fierce obey weak humans?”
People said a few B level Beast Tamers existed. They were powerful themselves and ultimately forced B level Magibeasts into contract obedience.
But her…
She sat back, rolled up a sleeve, and squeezed her thin arm. “Wow, I am such a glass cannon,” she said. “System, is there any way to get absolute defense?”
[If the little poser does not like training, then take more meds~ ^_^]
She went quiet, then opened the window and tossed the System out.
Song City Second B Combat Zone command center.
“Fall back, fall back, fall back to the second line,” shouted Lin Mo, the chief commander, into the comms. “C level warriors hold the first line and clear the E level tide. D level hold the same level tide. Zhao Qing, draw off the Black Dragon Beast. Support from other Combat Zones will arrive soon.”
As he finished, the temperature around them plunged. His face paled as a B level Frost Sparrow swept overhead. Each beat of its deep blue, water feathered wings sent a knife edge chill through the air, making Awakeners shiver as if they had stepped into ice and fire.
“Zhao Qing, forget that damned Black Dragon Beast. Go block the Frost Sparrow.”
“Most of our main force is not here,” Lin Mo thought bitterly. He had never expected the steady Qingyuntian Dungeon to erupt without warning. Now he could only hope Su Ang’s support arrived fast. If the third line broke, the Frost Sparrow would reach the civilian zone in under thirty minutes. The consequences would be unimaginable.
“Damn it, the third B level is out,” Zhao Qing growled over the comms. “It is a Cloudshock Leopard, heading east.”
East was the sub-zone inside the Second B Combat Zone, the place where Su Ang and Qian Qi had just toured. Lin Mo loosened a fraction and called out to Su Ang: “The Cloudshock Leopard is heading your way. Find a chance to stop it. We cannot break away here.”
“Understood,” came Su Ang’s calm reply as the single seater shot forward even faster.
“Commander, the C level Magibeasts are spreading out,” the C level Awakener captain reported. Expecting this, Lin Mo snapped on a defense helmet, gunned a dirt bike toward the center, and shouted: “Wang Shuo, Cheng Qing, cover me.”
A light submachine gun type Awakener caught up and jumped onto the seat behind him, while the archer Awakener Cheng Qing drew a longbow and raked fire across the Magibeasts lunging at Lin Mo.
“C levels about to leave the first line,” the captain said as Lin Mo reached the center. Seeing the C level Magibeasts closing in, Lin Mo cast his power and said: “Divine Net Strangulation.”
An invisible, enormous web of psychic power snapped open with Lin Mo at its center, its span covering almost the entire line. Low level Magibeasts that slammed into it were carved to chunks in an instant. When C level Magibeasts hit it, the once intact web tore in several places.
Backlash washed his face white. He opened his right hand, twisted his fingers, and the tatters of web clinging to the C level Magibeasts cinched tight, trapping them and cutting into their flesh.
A B level psychic Awakener taking on seventy two C level Magibeasts was pushing his limits, but two C level marksmen at his side finished off the closest targets.
For a moment, the battlefield held. Except for the Black Dragon Beast roaming the forest and spitting magma, the Awakeners barely kept the line at the second defense.
Then the fourth B level Magibeast left the Dungeon, and the tide flipped to the Magibeasts.
“Damn, another flying one,” Zhao Qing said as a new Frost Sparrow shot toward him. “We are in trouble, Lin.”
Lin Mo snapped his gaze to the sky.
