Chapter 94
Chapter 94: A 4888 Buffet and You’re Eating This?
Madam Lin?
Su Qian remembered.
Back when she auctioned elixirs and broke into the high-society madam circle, she had been in contact with Madam Lin.
“Since that’s the case, I can go take a look.”
“Miss Su, the Chamber of Commerce gathering is in seven days. The location is an ocean cruise ship. We look forward to your presence.”
After speaking, the two men bowed slightly and left.
“A Seaborne Cruise Ship Trade Summit. Sounds interesting.” Su Qian smiled faintly.
She put the invitation away.
With formal gatherings like this, they always sent invitations several days early, out of respect.
Since it was still early, Su Qian was not in a hurry.
“Come on. I’ll take you to eat something different. You’ll be full.”
The two of them went to a mall, and Su Qian headed straight to a high-end buffet on the fifth floor that cost 4888 per person.
They sat down by a window.
From there, they could look down at the lively scene in the mall.
As soon as she sat down, Su Qian said excitedly to Lu Yao, “This place is all good stuff. Eat whatever you want, go all out. Your sis is treating today, so don’t be polite with me.”
Lu Yao looked at her excitement and smiled. “Okay.”
This was Lu Yao’s first time eating at a buffet since coming to Earth.
Su Qian raised an eyebrow. “Now your sis has money. I’m letting you try the fancy stuff. You can’t keep eating takeout. It’s not nutritious, and you’ll get sick of it.”
As she spoke, Su Qian stood up.
She rubbed her hands together, ready to grab food.
Lu Yao chuckled, shook his head, and stood up too.
Su Qian strolled through the fresh section.
She picked several large slices of beautifully marbled wagyu sashimi, then chose a plump king crab, bluefin tuna, sweet botan shrimp, and firm arctic clams.
Then she went to the cooked section.
She took a serving of fragrant French-style baked lobster, a piece of foie gras seared just right,
and a few delicate Chinese pastries.
Only then did she head back, satisfied.
They set everything on the table, filling it to the brim.
Su Qian looked at the feast and beamed. “Now this is what you call enjoying life.”
Taking Lu Yao to a buffet meant there was no such thing as losing money.
Then she looked at what Lu Yao had grabbed.
“Fried chicken wings, durian pizza, grilled sausage, chocolate mousse…”
Su Qian almost blacked out.
It was all cheap stuff.
“A 4888-per-person buffet, and you’re taking these?” Su Qian felt her blood pressure rising.
Lu Yao sat down and raised an eyebrow. “Not allowed?”
Su Qian could not help laughing. “It’s not that you can’t. At least eat some expensive seafood.”
“I just think these foods suit my taste better,” Lu Yao said.
“…Fine.” Su Qian could only give up, completely helpless.
What a waste bringing you out.
You should’ve stayed home and eaten takeout.
Su Qian had no idea that Lu Yao did not care about those so-called expensive seafood at all.
In the cultivation realm, not to mention ordinary seafood like this,
even spirit-crystal shrimp from the deep-sea Spirit Spring, a Mysterious Ice Blue Whale as huge as a small mountain, a Flamefire Red Ao that could breathe flames, and an Illusion-Rainbow scallop that glowed with seven-colored light…
Lu Yao had long since gotten sick of all of it.
Compared to those, these ordinary foods packed with modern “technology” and tricks suited his taste more.
“I’m so full.” After eating and drinking their fill, Su Qian leaned back in her chair.
She gently rubbed her round belly, looking satisfied but a little regretful. “Ah, I was so focused on eating that I didn’t control myself. I’m definitely gaining two pounds tomorrow.”
Lu Yao laughed. “Come on, I’ll take you to walk it off.”
Su Qian slowly got up from her seat.
After paying, the two of them began strolling around the mall.
Thinking about how she had promised to visit Li Yi’s wife and child, she could not go empty-handed.
Su Qian planned to pick some gifts for the child.
“Why are so many people crowded over there?”
Just as she was about to head to the toy store, she heard a noisy commotion not far ahead.
“Come on, come on, let’s take a look.” Su Qian grabbed Lu Yao and hurried toward the sound.
A crowd was packed in layers, everyone talking, but nobody dared step forward.
Su Qian and Lu Yao squeezed to the front.
Only then did they see an elderly man collapsed on the ground.
His face was pale, his eyes were shut, and it looked bad.
“How did he faint out of nowhere?”
“No idea. I saw the old man clutch his chest and suddenly fall.”
“Should we go help him up?”
“Do you have money to burn? You’d dare help some random old man on the street.”
Someone in the crowd muttered quietly.
But no one actually dared take that step.
“What’s going on?” Su Qian asked a guy beside her in a black T-shirt.
“Heatstroke? Or a heart attack? Anyway, he just suddenly went down.”
You could not really blame the passersby for being cold.
There had been far too many cases of people getting extorted after trying to help.
Calling an ambulance
was already more than enough.
Su Qian frowned. The old man’s face had already turned purple.
At that moment, a woman in casual clothes stepped out of the crowd.
She quickly crouched down. First she checked the man’s complexion, then reached out to feel his pulse.
Next, she lifted his eyelids and checked his pupils.
The whole process flowed smoothly, practiced and efficient.
“Miss, don’t mess with him. If you get extorted later, it’ll be trouble.”
“Yeah, we already called an ambulance.”
The woman did not even look up. While continuing to check him, she said, “I’m a doctor. His face is purple. It’s likely something serious with his heart or breathing. We need CPR right away, or it may be too late by the time the ambulance gets here.”
As she spoke, she quickly unbuttoned the man’s collar.
So he could breathe a little easier.
Then she interlocked her hands, found the right spot, and began chest compressions at a standard rhythm and force.
Her expression was focused, and sweat slowly appeared on her forehead.
But her hands never slowed down. One press after another, steady and firm.
A few minutes later, the man’s finger twitched slightly.
The woman caught it instantly.
Her heart lifted.
Her compressions grew stronger and more rhythmic as she called out, “Sir, wake up. Hold on. The ambulance will be here any second!”
After a little while,
the elderly man slowly opened his eyes, confusion and weakness in his gaze.
He kept thanking her.
Not long after,
paramedics arrived at the scene and carefully lifted him onto a stretcher.
“So Doctor Zhao was here,” one paramedic said in surprise, admiration on his face. “Doctor Zhao, thank you for jumping in with first aid in time. Otherwise, it’s hard to say what would’ve happened.”
Doctor Zhao, the woman who had just treated the man, nodded slightly.
Her expression stayed serious. “Don’t waste time. Get him to the hospital for further checks. He’s awake now, but his condition is still very unstable.”
