Chapter 88
Chapter 88: Buying It Isn’t Impossible
“Um… our family has a little situation going on. I’ll take you inside to rest for a bit first.”
Tang Shi led Su Qian and the others toward the yard.
But her face still looked a little complicated.
“What’s wrong?” Su Qian asked as they walked.
After hesitating for a moment, Tang Shi finally spoke. “It’s all because of my little brother, that bastard…”
Tang Shi quickly explained what had happened.
“I’m really sorry.” Tang Shi looked helpless. “But don’t worry. That kid doesn’t have the right to decide. In the end, the farm still depends on my dad.”
Su Qian nodded slightly.
“Why did you suddenly want to rent a farm?” Lu Yao walked beside Su Qian.
Su Qian answered casually, “I’m bored. I’ll plant some flowers and grass, I guess.”
Lu Yao gave her a long, deep look.
Under his gaze, Su Qian felt a little guilty and couldn’t help looking away.
As they spoke, they had already reached the yard.
The atmosphere was still tense. Old Tang and Boss Zhang were still arguing.
“Tsk, Brother Tang.” Zhou Ran stepped forward with a smile.
When Old Tang saw Zhou Ran, a hint of joy flashed in his eyes. “Little Zhou, you’re here at just the right time. Look at this mess. Wait a bit, alright? I promised I’d rent it to you guys, and I’ll handle this as fast as I can.”
Then Old Tang noticed Zhou Ran’s face, swollen up high, and stared in shock. “Little Zhou, what happened to your face?”
Zhou Ran scratched his head awkwardly and glanced at Tang Shi. “Uh, Brother Tang, it was just an accident. I’m fine.”
Old Tang frowned slightly, his eyes shifting between Tang Shi and Zhou Ran.
He seemed to have guessed a few things, but he didn’t ask.
Zhou Ran changed the topic. “The one renting the farm is President Su here. You can talk details with her.”
When Old Tang heard that, he quickly turned his gaze to Su Qian.
“President Su, I’ve heard a lot about you. I’m really sorry. You came all this way and ran into this messy scene.” As he spoke, Old Tang reached out, wanting to shake Su Qian’s hand.
Su Qian smiled and shook back.
Just then, Boss Zhang, who hadn’t said much, couldn’t help snorting.
“Everything has an order of who came first. I already talked this through with the Tang Family first, and I paid a deposit too. You’re going to butt in?”
“How much do you plan to rent it for?” Su Qian looked at him as she asked.
Boss Zhang frowned, seemingly surprised by her counter-question, but he still snorted. “I agreed with the Tang Family. It’s one hundred thousand yuan a year, five years.”
“One hundred thousand a year?” Su Qian laughed like she had heard a joke. “You want to rent three hundred mu for one hundred thousand yuan? Are you kidding me?”
“That price was agreed on between me and the Tang Family. One side wants it, the other side accepts it. What does it have to do with you?” Boss Zhang shot back, his face stiff.
“Is that so?” Su Qian asked calmly, turning to Old Tang. “Boss Tang, did you know about this?”
Old Tang looked embarrassed. “President Su, I really didn’t know about it before. My ignorant son talked with Boss Zhang behind my back. The price is obviously too low, and I can’t agree to it.”
“Boss Zhang, you heard him.” Su Qian looked at Boss Zhang, her voice calm. “Boss Tang didn’t know about it at all.”
“First, you didn’t sign any contract. Second, the junior in his family doesn’t have final authority over the farm. From the start, this deal doesn’t even stand.”
Boss Zhang frowned hard. Panic flickered in his eyes.
But he still forced himself to stay calm. “Hmph. When Little Tang talked with me, he never said he couldn’t make the call. How was I supposed to know there were all these twists and turns?”
“Fine. I don’t feel like arguing with you.” Su Qian couldn’t be bothered to waste words. “Either way, this land, this lady has her eye on it. If you don’t accept it, then the highest bidder wins!”
Boss Zhang’s expression instantly turned ugly.
He had only been trying to pick up a bargain, fooling Tang Chuan Chang into agreeing to such a cheap price.
Now she was saying highest bidder wins.
Of course he wasn’t happy.
“Hmph, what does a little girl like you need such a huge piece of land for?” Boss Zhang sneered.
“That’s none of your business.” Su Qian wasn’t scared at all. Her lips curled slightly. “This lady has so much money it’s burning a hole in my pocket.”
Boss Zhang choked on her words, then lifted his chin and snapped, “If you’re that rich, then buy it!”
Su Qian froze for a moment.
Then she smiled lightly, a sly glint in her eyes. “Oh? Boss Zhang is getting anxious now. What, you’re trying to push me into buying the whole farm outright? Well… buying it isn’t impossible.”
As a medicinal base, Su Qian had been planning to develop it long-term anyway.
Boss Zhang’s heart sank.
He had only meant to jab at Su Qian and make her back off.
He hadn’t expected Su Qian to take the bait and climb right up the pole.
Boss Zhang snorted, his face full of disdain. “Hmph, a little girl like you sure talks big.”
“You even say buying it isn’t impossible. I think you’re just bragging. You? You have that much money?”
“Don’t end up unable to even pay the rent and just embarrass yourself here.”
Su Qian wasn’t flustered at all. She raised her brow slightly. “Whether I can afford it isn’t for you to decide.”
“Zhou Ran.”
Zhou Ran froze, not expecting this to involve him. “Yeah, Su Qian, what’s up?”
“For normal agricultural land, how much would it cost to buy three hundred mu?”
Zhou Ran immediately understood what she meant.
“Agricultural land generally can’t be bought and sold directly. Even if you ‘buy’ it, it’s really just land-use rights for a set number of years.”
Su Qian was a little surprised.
She didn’t expect there to be that kind of catch.
“But…” Zhou Ran changed his tone. “You can choose to buy land-use rights for a certain term.”
If you calculated it that way, it wasn’t much different from buying it outright.
“What about fifty-year land-use rights?” Su Qian pressed.
Zhou Ran thought for a moment. “For three hundred mu, with this climate, soil, and location, fifty-year land-use rights might be a bit over ten million yuan.”
Su Qian nodded slightly.
Not bad.
It wasn’t expensive.
Boss Zhang laughed like he’d heard the funniest joke in the world. “A bit over ten million? You say that like it’s nothing. You think that’s one thousand yuan or something?”
“You? You can pull out that much money? Stop dreaming, little girl.”
“What if I really can?” Su Qian’s lips curved into a smile.
Boss Zhang’s laughter stopped dead.
“Hmph. If you really can, I’ll hand the farm over to you, and I won’t make the Tang Family pay back the deposit. How about that?”
Su Qian raised her brows. “Deal.”
Zhou Ran felt something was off.
Was she really planning to buy land?
“Wait, why are you buying land?” Zhou Ran asked, completely baffled.
“For nothing, really.” Su Qian shrugged. “Plant some flowers, plant some grass, raise some pigeons, raise some birds.”
Zhou Ran: “…”
[Are you crazy? Buying fifty-year land-use rights just to plant flowers and grass, and raise pigeons and birds?]
