Chapter 81
Chapter 81: This Lord Really Isn’t a Peeping Tom
Su Qian grinned all night, unable to stop smiling.
Lu Yao, on the other hand, couldn’t sleep.
“Cinnabar, talisman paper, spirit stones, divine wood… nothing is wrong. So which step went wrong?”
Lu Yao couldn’t help letting out a soft sigh.
He frowned, replaying every step of his casting in his mind.
Late at night, while Su Qian slept soundly, Lu Yao got up again and went to the backyard.
“Could it be environmental factors during the casting?”
He checked the formation again. After confirming everything was correct, Lu Yao still couldn’t help muttering to himself.
He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths.
Then he stepped back into the teleportation array.
As Lu Yao entered it, a faint glow rose in the array. The light grew stronger and stronger until it fully wrapped around him.
Then his figure vanished inside the formation.
The next second, Lu Yao slowly opened his eyes and looked around, only to find himself on the villa’s top floor.
“Not right.”
Again.
Lu Yao hurried back and adjusted the direction of the teleportation array.
This time he appeared straight in the living room, the garage, the front yard, the gym, the home theater…
In short, he never left the villa.
The teleportation array worked.
The destination was wrong!
“How could this happen…” Lu Yao muttered.
He lifted his head toward the sky. The night wind blew, and leaves in the backyard rustled.
“One last try.”
So he closed his eyes again and adjusted his breathing.
He prepared to step into that headache-inducing teleportation array for the Nth time.
In the flashing light, Lu Yao’s figure gradually disappeared into the array.
A moment later, the light dimmed.
Lu Yao’s figure reappeared.
He slowly opened his eyes, and at first, a hint of expectation flashed through them.
But when he saw the surroundings clearly, he froze.
“This place looks familiar.”
The moment he looked up, Lu Yao’s whole body went stiff.
This was Su Qian’s room!
That damned teleportation array had sent him straight into Su Qian’s room!
Su Qian was sleeping.
Moonlight spilled through the window onto her peaceful face, wrapping her in a soft glow.
Lu Yao just stood there, stunned.
He couldn’t go forward, and he couldn’t retreat.
He didn’t even dare breathe too loudly, afraid he would wake Su Qian.
If Su Qian saw him, he really wouldn’t be able to explain it.
“Meow…”
Lu Yao’s sudden appearance startled Ning Meng, who had been curled up at the head of the bed, sleeping sweetly.
All its fur puffed up.
Its round eyes stared at Lu Yao in terror, and it kept making small “meow… meow…” sounds.
“Shut up!”
Lu Yao’s eyes lowered slightly.
Ning Meng let out a small, wronged “meow,” then turned and threw itself into Su Qian’s arms.
As it turned, its paw accidentally bumped Su Qian’s phone.
The phone fell to the floor with a faint sound.
In the quiet night, the sound felt especially sharp. Lu Yao tensed instantly, his heartbeat picking up.
He stopped moving at once, held his breath, and stared hard at Su Qian’s bed.
[Please don’t wake up. This lord really isn’t a peeping tom.]
Just as Lu Yao had no idea what to do, Su Qian on the bed seemed to stir. She rolled over.
She mumbled a few blurry words in her sleep, then sank right back into deep sleep.
Seeing Su Qian still sleeping peacefully, Lu Yao finally let out a breath.
He carefully shifted his steps, making as little noise as possible, and slowly walked toward the door.
Early the next morning, Su Qian slowly opened her eyes.
She stretched and felt like she had slept unusually well.
Out of habit, she reached toward the head of the bed for her phone, but grabbed nothing.
“Huh? Where’s my phone?”
Su Qian muttered and sat up. Only then did she notice the phone had fallen to the floor.
“You little one, you really don’t sleep properly.”
Su Qian lightly patted Ning Meng on the head, her tone holding a bit of playful scolding.
“Next time I’ll punish you and make you sleep in the backyard.”
Ning Meng stared at Su Qian with its round, innocent eyes.
It even let out a soft “meow-woo,” as if it was saying it was completely wronged.
After washing up and changing clothes, Su Qian walked out of her room.
She saw Lu Yao in the living room, and his expression seemed a little unnatural.
Thinking about the buttons that weren’t properly fastened last night, Su Qian still felt a bit awkward.
“Um… you’re up pretty early?” Su Qian greeted him with a dry laugh.
Lu Yao looked much more natural. “Yeah. I didn’t sleep too well last night, so I got up early.”
Su Qian walked over and sat on the sofa, smiling. “Haha, insomnia? I slept really well last night. I even dreamed.”
Lu Yao gave a dry laugh.
“Really? What kind of good dream?” he asked.
Su Qian tilted her head, thought for a moment, then said excitedly, “I dreamed I got rich!”
When she said “got rich,” Su Qian’s eyes practically sparkled.
And it wasn’t really a lie.
What Lin Yue sent her truly was a lot of wealth.
Lu Yao raised his brows slightly. “That really is a good dream.”
“I also dreamed you went into my room,” Su Qian said half-jokingly.
The moment she said it, Lu Yao’s heart sank with a thud.
His smile froze, and his face turned a little unnatural. “What kind of nonsense dream is that? Why would I go into your room?”
Su Qian didn’t really care. She kept smiling. “Who knows? Maybe you covet this miss’s beauty.”
Lu Yao: “…”
He seriously suspected Su Qian had pretended to sleep last night.
But he had no evidence.
“You’re pretty confident.”
Lu Yao looked Su Qian up and down, his tone teasing.
After saying that, he strolled toward the backyard.
Su Qian: “?”
“Was he just insulting me?” Su Qian looked uncertainly at Ning Meng in her arms.
“Meow…”
Ning Meng seemed to sense Su Qian’s mood and called softly.
It tilted its head at Su Qian, and in its round eyes there was a faint, confused look.
“That bastard!” Su Qian muttered under her breath.
In the backyard, Lu Yao had already dismantled the formation and collected the spirit stones.
Failure after failure left him full of frustration. His mindset was close to collapsing.
For a while, he didn’t want to mess with it anymore.
When Su Qian came to the backyard, she found Lu Yao standing there spacing out, frowning from time to time.
“What’s wrong with you?” Su Qian stepped closer.
Hearing her, Lu Yao came back to himself. “Nothing.”
He said casually, “I just think you raise koi pretty well.”
If the teleportation array couldn’t take him back to the cultivation realm, then the most important point seemed to be Su Qian.
“Koi?”
Su Qian’s heart jumped.
Following Lu Yao’s gaze, she saw his eyes resting on the colorful koi in the pond.
“You’re not thinking about my koi again, are you?”
Su Qian rushed over in a few steps, spread her arms, and blocked the pond.
She stared at Lu Yao with a wary look.
