Chapter 77
Chapter 77: I Believe You, but the Police Might Not
Shen Zhong’s slap knocked Chen Zi Hao back to his senses.
Facing all the insults and accusations, Chen Zi Hao finally realized what he had just said.
A chill crawled up from his feet and spread through his whole body.
Cold sweat broke out all over him.
“I… I said everything?”
Chen Zi Hao muttered in terror.
He didn’t know why he had lost control and spoken the truth.
“It’s over. It’s all over…”
His lips trembled. “Qian Qian… I was confused just now. I was talking nonsense. You believe me, right?”
Su Qian narrowed her eyes slightly, a trace of mockery flashing through them.
She sighed softly. “I believe you, but the police might not.”
The moment Chen Zi Hao heard that, it was like he’d been struck by lightning.
He froze in place.
As soon as her words fell, the meeting room door was pushed open, and several police officers walked in.
“Chen Zi Hao, we received a report. You are suspected of misappropriating funds, molesting female employees, intentional homicide, and multiple other crimes. Come with us,” the lead police officer said, showing the relevant identification.
“N-no. No!”
Chen Zi Hao denied it wildly. “You’ve got it wrong! I’m innocent. I didn’t do any of that!”
He tried to argue, his eyes full of fear and despair.
“I can testify that he molested female employees.”
A girl with a ponytail stepped forward. “I have evidence on my phone.”
“Me too!”
Another girl with short hair shouted right after. “He verbally harassed me in the office, tricked me into going to a hotel… I have chat records as proof!”
The police officers exchanged looks and nodded.
One of them said, “Alright. We’ll record your testimony.”
Hearing the accusations from the female employees, Chen Zi Hao’s face turned even paler.
His lips quivered as he tried to refute them, but he couldn’t find the words. “Y-you’re lying. I didn’t…”
“Qian Qian, hurry and say something for me. You know I’m being framed, right?”
Chen Zi Hao still struggled desperately.
He looked at Su Qian, his eyes pleading.
At this point, Su Qian stopped pretending.
“Chen Zi Hao, do you seriously not know what you’ve done?”
Su Qian let out a cold laugh. “Or do you think every girl in the world is easy to trick?”
“Y-you played me?”
Chen Zi Hao’s eyes went wide.
No matter how stupid he was, he understood now – Su Qian was behind all of this.
“Oh? You figured it out?”
Su Qian put on a fake look of surprise. “Now you’re getting smart.”
Chen Zi Hao trembled with rage.
He pointed at Su Qian, his voice turning sharp. “Su Qian, why would you do this? I’ve never wronged you. Why are you framing me?”
Su Qian shrugged. “Because I’m bored. Isn’t that allowed?”
“Y-you-”
Chen Zi Hao was so furious at how little she seemed to care that he almost blacked out.
His face flushed bright red.
His eyes looked like they were about to spit fire.
But the police officers didn’t give Chen Zi Hao any more chances to speak. They forcibly took him out of the meeting room.
All the way down the hall, Chen Zi Hao kept shouting that he was innocent.
But his voice gradually disappeared at the end of the corridor.
“The show’s over,” Su Qian posted in the Chat Group.
Jiang Xiao Yu (Apocalypse Survival): “Whoa, Su Qian, that was way too satisfying.”
Xia Meng Meng (Cultivation Cannon Fodder): “Right, right! Sister Qian Qian, you’re amazing!”
Shen Meng Qi (Beast World Darling): “Just one word – satisfying! Hahahaha.”
The group flooded with messages.
“This is weird. Where’s Lin Yue? She’s never missed gossip before,” Su Qian asked in the group.
Xia Meng Meng (Cultivation Cannon Fodder): “Yeah! This is huge gossip and she didn’t show up. That’s way too abnormal.”
Jiang Xiao Yu (Apocalypse Survival): “Gossip! Gossip! @Lin Yue (Ancient Household Intrigue).”
Shen Meng Qi (Beast World Darling): “Maybe she’s tied up with something urgent right now. When she finishes and sees our chat log, she’ll probably regret it to death, haha.”
After Chen Zi Hao was taken away, people in the company started to slowly disperse.
They each went back to their posts and continued working.
But their emotions still hadn’t fully settled. Along the way, they kept discussing in low voices the shocking events that had just happened.
“I really didn’t expect Chen Zi Hao to be that kind of person. I was blind. I even thought he was pretty decent.”
“Exactly. Thank goodness for President Su, or who knows how much longer he would’ve fooled us.”
“Hmph. Trash like that should rot in prison for life, so he can’t come out and harm people.”
Shen Zhong slowly walked up to Su Qian.
His eyes were filled with gratitude and relief. “Su Qian, we truly owe you this time. If it weren’t for you, Meng Qi wouldn’t be able to rest in peace.”
Su Qian smiled. “Uncle Shen, don’t say that. It’s what I should do. Meng Qi was my friend. I couldn’t let her suffer for nothing.”
Other employees also gathered around.
They praised Su Qian nonstop.
Su Qian exchanged a few polite words and refused Shen Zhong and the others’ enthusiastic thanks.
She seemed to think of something.
She knocked on the glass door next to the meeting room.
“You heard everything?”
With her arms crossed, Su Qian leaned against the glass door and looked at the person inside.
Inside was Lu Jia Jia.
At this moment, Lu Jia Jia’s expression was stiff and unnatural. Her hands were clenched so tightly her nails nearly dug into her skin.
Her lips trembled, and her eyes showed anger toward Chen Zi Hao.
Lu Jia Jia never expected Chen Zi Hao to be such a beast.
“Why did you help me?”
After calming herself down, Lu Jia Jia lifted her head and looked at Su Qian.
Her eyes held a complicated mix of confusion and gratitude.
“Help you?” Su Qian laughed. “You’re thinking too much.”
She didn’t have some overflowing saintly heart. She definitely hadn’t exposed Chen Zi Hao’s true face just for Lu Jia Jia.
“I was only helping my friend.”
The friend Su Qian meant was, of course, Shen Meng Qi. “And while I was at it, I spoke up for the female employees Chen Zi Hao hurt.”
“As for you…”
She glanced at Lu Jia Jia. “You were just included by the way.”
Lu Jia Jia froze for a moment after hearing Su Qian.
Then a complicated expression surfaced on her face. “Anyway, thank you.”
After saying that, she turned around and left.
[Wait, that was it? She just left?]
Su Qian stared at Lu Jia Jia’s back, completely dumbfounded.
[Don’t just thank me with words. Money is the most practical.]
[I like money the most.]
But Lu Jia Jia was already far away.
“Tsk, so stingy,” Su Qian sighed and shook her head.
Then she also left Zhi Hui Tower.
[How has Lu Yao been at home these past few days?]
On the way to the airport by taxi, Su Qian originally wanted to call Lu Yao.
But then she thought about it – she was about to get on a plane and head back anyway.
So she didn’t care about that little bit of time.
Ever since Su Qian went to Bin Hai City, Lu Yao had stayed in the yard studying formation arrays.
With the spirit stones Su Qian gave him, and the backyard’s unique environment, setting up the formation array went fairly smoothly.
“Did it work?”
A flash of joy passed through Lu Yao’s eyes.
The patch of ground in front of him, which had looked ordinary before, was now faintly glowing.
Lines of spiritual energy, like living things, flowed and intertwined.
Little by little, they outlined a complete, exquisite formation array.
