Chapter 43
Chapter 43: I can die, but I can’t die of embarrassment!
The way they looked at Su Qian held a little pity.
Back in college, Lu Jia Jia never liked Su Qian.
Su Qian had good grades and looked good too, outshining her in everything. Lu Jia Jia, who always thought highly of herself, was filled with jealousy.
She had tripped Su Qian up plenty back then.
“People like us, who actually have a partner, don’t need this kind of stuff,” Zhang Yu said smugly, her eyes full of contempt.
Su Qian’s head started to ache.
She snapped back bluntly, “None of your business.”
“Aww, don’t be mad. We’re old classmates. It’s just a joke,” Zhang Yu said with a fake smile.
But there wasn’t the slightest bit of apology in it.
Su Qian rolled her eyes.
“I have things to do. I’m leaving.”
She didn’t want to deal with them at all. She lifted the bags and was about to walk away.
Lu Jia Jia reached out and blocked her. “Why the rush? It’s been so long. Don’t you want to catch up? I won’t laugh at you.”
“If I remember correctly, we weren’t close enough to ‘catch up,’ were we?” Su Qian stopped and let out a cold laugh.
“Listen to you.” Lu Jia Jia smiled. “Su Qian, don’t be so cold. We’re classmates. More friends means more paths.”
“Perfect timing, too. There’s a class reunion on Saturday night. You should come as well,” Lu Jia Jia invited warmly, like nothing unpleasant had happened.
Su Qian laughed.
So that was what this was about.
“No thanks. I’m not interested,” Su Qian refused without hesitation.
She hadn’t had many friends in college.
After graduation, she even left the class group chat. There was nothing to gather with these people for.
Lu Jia Jia seemed to have expected the refusal and kept pushing. “Aw, don’t be such a buzzkill.”
“Don’t tell me you’re still holding a grudge because I stole Senior Xu, and you’re too scared to come?” Lu Jia Jia provoked.
Su Qian narrowed her eyes.
A cheap tactic. How old was she, still playing games like this?
“Anything that can be stolen was trash to begin with. Someone recycled the trash for me. Why would I hold a grudge?” Su Qian smiled.
Lu Jia Jia’s expression turned ugly.
She hadn’t expected Su Qian to answer like that.
“Su Qian, stop acting tough. Back then, Senior Xu really liked you. If it weren’t for me…”
Lu Jia Jia tried to continue, but Su Qian cut her off.
“If it weren’t for you butting in?” Su Qian smiled. “You know it was one-sided, right? Trash I didn’t want, you still had to snatch. Looks like your taste isn’t that great.”
Contempt even showed in Su Qian’s eyes.
Lu Jia Jia’s face turned livid.
That Senior Xu was a college classmate. Su Qian had interacted with him a few times.
Later, he pursued Su Qian like crazy, but Su Qian ignored him.
Lu Jia Jia saw it and grew jealous. She did everything she could to get close to Senior Xu, and in the end, she successfully stole him.
She thought it would make Su Qian miserable.
Who knew Su Qian didn’t care at all.
When she couldn’t make Su Qian suffer, Lu Jia Jia found it boring. Not long after, she dumped Senior Xu anyway.
“Come on, we’re old classmates. Why get like this?” Zhang Yu stepped in to smooth things over.
“Su Qian, Jia Jia and I have things to do, so we’ll go first. Oh, and don’t forget the class reunion on Saturday. I already told everyone in the group you were coming.”
“I’ve already sent the address to your phone. See you then -”
After that, Zhang Yu didn’t give Su Qian a chance to refuse. She dragged Lu Jia Jia away and left.
“What is wrong with them?” Su Qian muttered, staring at their backs.
She carried the two huge bags into the underground parking garage.
Just as she was about to put them in the trunk, she ran into another familiar person.
“Qian Qian?”
The moment Su Qian heard that voice, her head hurt even more.
The one who came wasn’t anyone else – it was her so-called cheap older brother, Su Yichen.
What the hell!
She didn’t usually run into familiar people this often.
Su Qian turned around helplessly. “Brother, why are you here?” She tried to keep her tone natural.
“Buying something,” Su Yichen answered simply. Then, as if he remembered something, he added, “Are you free tomorrow night? Come home and have dinner together?”
Su Yichen could clearly feel it.
This sister wasn’t as resistant to him as she used to be.
Since Su Qian returned to the Su Family, she still hadn’t properly sat down for a meal with them.
Su Yichen couldn’t help feeling guilty.
Su Qian froze slightly. Why was everyone trying to invite her somewhere?
“Forget dinner. I’m not familiar with the Su Family. There’s no need to eat together and make everyone uncomfortable.”
Just thinking about her biological parents – the way they looked down on her inside but still pretended to be warm on the outside – made Su Qian feel exhausted.
And Su Mo Er too. Seeing her gave Su Qian a headache.
“Grandfather said he misses you.” Su Yichen looked at Su Qian with a hint of hope.
“We’ll see,” Su Qian replied vaguely.
Su Yichen knew Su Qian’s personality and didn’t push.
He glanced at the bags in Su Qian’s hands, his expression turning complicated.
In the end, it became one sentence. “Take care of your health.”
Su Qian: “!!!”
What kind of dramatic public execution was this?!
Su Qian wanted to find a crack in the ground and crawl in.
But before she could explain anything, Su Yichen had already turned and walked away.
It was over. Now she really couldn’t explain it.
After putting the things in the trunk, Su Qian immediately took out her phone, snapped a picture, and transmitted it to Shen Meng Qi.
Su Qian (Modern Metropolis): “?Furious?Damn it! Meng Qi, give me back my innocence!”
Su Qian felt like she had thrown away all the face she’d ever have in this lifetime.
Far away in Beast World, Shen Meng Qi received what Su Qian sent. After seeing Su Qian’s frantic message, she couldn’t help laughing out loud.
Shen Meng Qi (Beast World Darling): “Hahaha darling Su Qian, what happened?”
Xia Meng Meng (Cultivation Cannon Fodder): “?Popcorn? It’s rare to see Sister Qian Qian this worked up.”
Su Qian drove out of the underground garage and replied in the chat group in her mind, “Don’t even ask. It was a huge social death moment.”
The more she said, the more miserable it felt.
“I can die, but I can’t die of embarrassment!”
Jiang Xiao Yu (Apocalypse Survival): “?Snickering?Don’t tell me you ran into someone you know while buying stuff for Meng Qi?”
Su Qian’s mouth twitched.
Jiang Xiao Yu was surprisingly sharp.
When Su Qian didn’t reply, everyone basically guessed the truth. The chat instantly filled with hahahahas and all kinds of teasing.
In the end, it only stopped after Su Qian threatened them.
That little incident embarrassed Su Qian, but it didn’t really affect her.
The most important thing now was leveling up the group.
Thinking of that, Su Qian asked Shen Meng Qi in the group, “Do you have any unfinished wishes on Earth, or anything you’re still attached to?”
Based on how the Chat Group worked, helping group members complete request missions could unlock group functions and help upgrade the group.
Shen Meng Qi (Beast World Darling): “Unfinished wishes… let me think. Um…”
