Chapter 42
Chapter 42: I want a black plastic bag
Lu Yao narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he were studying Su Qian.
Su Qian’s heart tightened. She didn’t know if he had noticed what she was saying in the Chat Group.
She forced a laugh. “N-nothing. I was just thinking about something.”
Lu Yao lifted his chin a little. “Thinking about what?”
Su Qian’s brain raced. She grabbed the first excuse she could. “I was thinking… about how to teach you to use modern appliances.”
“No need,” Lu Yao refused. “I can read.”
These things were unfamiliar, but for Lu Yao, they weren’t hard.
Su Qian sat down on the sofa, the corner of her mouth twitching.
She knew it. TV dramas were liars.
In those shows, when the male lead traveled to the modern world, he acted like an idiot, curious about everything and understanding nothing.
But Lu Yao? Even with amnesia, he was still brilliant.
He adapted quickly and explored these modern devices with his own ability.
This supervillain from the cultivation realm really was something else.
“You seem very afraid of me?” Lu Yao asked suddenly.
He was curious. What had his little disciple told her?
He had done nothing since arriving in this world, yet this woman had been on guard and terrified from the start.
“N-no. I’m not.” Su Qian shook her head quickly.
[Big Brother, you’re a supervillain who kills without blinking. Of course I’m scared.]
Lu Yao watched her reaction and fell into thought.
Was his tone too harsh?
He tried to soften his voice. “You don’t need to be so nervous. I won’t hurt people casually.”
“Oh… okay.” Su Qian nodded blankly.
Then she paused.
Wait a second.
Was he really amnesiac?
Why did it feel like he wasn’t?
“You really don’t remember anything?” Su Qian tested cautiously.
Lu Yao shook his head slightly. “I really don’t remember.”
Since he was going to pretend, he would pretend all the way.
At least until he found a way back to the cultivation realm, he had to keep acting.
Su Qian relaxed at his answer.
Haha!
So he really didn’t remember.
Then there was nothing to be afraid of.
“Little Lu.” Su Qian stood up and put on a friendly smile. “Since you don’t remember anything, then for the sake of us being relatives, you can stay here for now. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask me.”
“Okay.” Lu Yao nodded.
“But,” Su Qian shifted her tone, “if there’s nothing urgent, don’t run around. You’re not familiar with this place, and if you get lost, that’ll be trouble.”
Lu Yao’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Don’t worry. I won’t run around.”
His injuries still hadn’t fully recovered.
The backyard’s natural environment, along with the spiritual herbs and plants there, could speed up his recovery.
So Lu Yao wasn’t going to leave casually.
Su Qian looked at his obedient, cooperative attitude and finally felt more at ease.
That afternoon, Su Qian went out to buy something for Shen Meng Qi. After reminding Lu Yao a few times to behave at home, she left.
She pulled out her phone and searched for places nearby that sold adult products.
“A mall?” Su Qian’s mouth twitched.
Were people really this accepting now?
Su Qian arrived at the mall, and sure enough, the store sat right on the busiest first floor. The name was a string of English letters, and the interior was simple and stylish.
If you didn’t know better, you’d think it sold trendy accessories.
Su Qian stood at the entrance, hesitated for a moment, then finally gathered her courage and went in.
The store displayed all kinds of products. Several girls were browsing with relaxed smiles, as if they were choosing ordinary daily necessities.
Su Qian was secretly shocked. People really were much more open these days.
“Welcome,” the shop assistant greeted warmly.
Su Qian smiled awkwardly and pretended to browse casually.
“Do you need any recommendations?” the shop assistant asked, smiling.
Su Qian waved her hands quickly. “N-no, it’s fine. I’ll just look around.”
After that, she made a big sweeping gesture.
“Pack up this whole section. All of it.”
She didn’t know what Shen Meng Qi wanted exactly, so she decided to buy more.
The shop assistant froze, clearly stunned by Su Qian’s sudden bold move.
“Ma’am, are you sure you want all of it?” the shop assistant asked uncertainly.
They’d seen people buy out clothing stores.
But they’d never seen anyone buy out an adult products store.
The girls nearby turned to stare in surprise.
“Ahem…” Su Qian cleared her throat awkwardly and tried to stay calm. “Yes. Pack it all up.”
As if she suddenly remembered something, she added, “And that row over there too. Pack all of that as well.”
The shop assistant looked utterly stunned. After a moment, she stammered, “M-ma’am… are you sure you want that much?”
The girls nearby widened their eyes even more, whispering to each other.
Su Qian forced herself to stay composed. “Yes. I’m sure. I’m in a hurry – please pack everything up for me.”
“O-oh, okay.” The shop assistant hurried to comply.
She started packing everything in a fluster, secretly amazed at this customer’s spending power.
Once everything was packed, it filled two huge bags.
“Um… do you have black plastic bags?” Su Qian asked cautiously.
The shop assistant paused. “Sorry, ma’am. We don’t have black plastic bags in our store.”
Su Qian sighed softly and took the bags helplessly.
Luckily, the bags were all in English. From the outside, the products looked more like skincare.
Su Qian finally relaxed a little and hurried toward the underground parking garage.
Please don’t run into anyone I know!
She walked quickly, scanning the area nonstop, afraid a familiar face would appear.
But sometimes, the more you fear something, the more it happens.
“Su Qian?”
Just as Su Qian was about to reach the elevator, she heard a familiar voice calling her name.
Her whole body stiffened. [Oh no.]
She slowly turned around and saw two old classmates she hadn’t seen in ages, staring at her in surprise.
“Oh, it really is you.”
The girl crossed her arms, brows lifted, her tone arrogant. “I haven’t seen you since graduation. I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
Su Qian almost rolled her eyes into the sky.
What bad luck.
This girl was her college classmate, Lu Jia Jia.
Back in college, Lu Jia Jia had opposed Su Qian at every turn, looked down on her for being poor, and bullied her plenty.
Now that they’d met again, Su Qian could only feel helpless.
“Yeah, what bad luck.” Su Qian replied flatly.
Lu Jia Jia’s gaze dropped to the bags in Su Qian’s hands. Curiosity and mockery flickered in her eyes. “What did you buy?”
“Huh? This brand looks familiar. Tsk – isn’t this that… you know?” Zhang Yu suddenly said.
“Why’d you buy so much of it? Don’t tell me you’re still single?”
Lu Jia Jia caught on too, her tone turning even sharper.
