Chapter 26
Chapter 26: One Million to Buy Your Daughter for Five Years
Lin Tian Ci was about to cry. Was he supposed to answer or not?
If he spoke, he got slapped.
If he didn’t speak, he got kicked?
Su Qian glanced at Zhou Ran and seriously suspected he was doing it on purpose.
At the critical moment, Father Lin forced himself to step forward. “Um… about the deal you mentioned, could you explain it more clearly?”
Zhou Ran’s eyes flashed with impatience. “A fortune teller said our Eldest Miss needs a lucky charm. Your daughter’s birth chart matches our Eldest Miss.”
“One million to buy her time for five years as our Eldest Miss’s lucky charm. During those five years, you can’t contact her for any reason.”
The Lin family heard “one million,” and their eyes practically turned green.
They didn’t care how Lin Qin felt. As long as it benefited them, that was all that mattered.
One million was enough for their family to live well.
And it was only five years. When the five years were up, maybe they could squeeze out another sum of money.
The Lin family exchanged looks, greed shining in every pair of eyes.
“Well… Eldest Miss, since she’s just a lucky charm, isn’t one million a bit low?” Father Lin asked carefully, testing the waters.
Su Qian lifted her eyes, her gaze cool as she looked at them.
Zhou Ran glared. “Tsk, getting greedy already. You think the only one with a matching birth chart is your daughter?”
Lin Tian Ci also tensed up. He wanted more money, but he was afraid of angering them.
Mother Lin stayed quiet, waiting to see where it went.
In the end, greed won.
Lin Tian Ci swallowed and forced himself to speak. “Eldest Miss, that’s five years…”
“Who gave you the guts to bargain with our Eldest Miss?” Zhou Ran snapped, his face darkening.
He lifted his foot and kicked Lin Tian Ci again.
Lin Tian Ci stumbled back in shock, but he didn’t dare fight back.
Zhou Ran kicked and cursed. “So greedy! So shameless! Who told you you had the right?”
Father Lin and Mother Lin watched in terror, not daring to stop him.
Su Qian’s lips twitched. She could tell-Zhou Ran was absolutely doing it on purpose.
“Stop-stop, bro, I’m wrong, I’m wrong-” Lin Tian Ci curled up on the floor in pain.
He was almost crying.
It wasn’t just me bargaining. Why am I the one getting hit again?
Madman!
Psycho!
After a few kicks, Zhou Ran stopped. He looked at the Lin family and put on an innocent smile again. “Sorry. I got a little impulsive. It’s fine-you keep talking. Pretend I’m not here.”
The Lin family trembled, forcing smiles, but inside they were cursing like crazy.
Who would dare pretend you weren’t here?
One wrong word and you start hitting people.
But they didn’t dare object anymore.
“Fine. When that girl gets home from school, we’ll hand her over to you,” Father Lin said quickly, voice full of flattery.
Mother Lin nodded along. “Yes, we’ll cooperate.”
Zhou Ran raised a brow. “So you want our Eldest Miss to wait for her?”
The Lin family stiffened. Lin Tian Ci shivered too.
“No, no. That girl can block disasters for Eldest Miss. That’s her blessing. I’ll call her right now and tell her to get back here,” Father Lin said quickly, pulling out his phone.
Mother Lin watched nervously, both excited and uneasy.
Lin Tian Ci shrank his neck, not daring to make a sound.
“Dead girl, get your ass home right now!” Father Lin roared into the phone.
On the other end, Lin Qin jumped in fright. She asked timidly, “Dad, what’s wrong? What happened?”
Father Lin said impatiently, “Stop asking. Get back here!”
Then he hung up.
“Eldest Miss, I’ve told that girl to come back,” Father Lin said carefully, trying to please her.
Su Qian gave a slight nod and said nothing.
Zhou Ran narrowed his eyes. “Don’t try any tricks.”
The Lin family nodded again and again, not daring to even breathe too loudly.
Soon, Lin Qin rushed home in a hurry. In the stairwell, she saw the dense crowd of bodyguards and her heart nearly jumped out of her throat.
“Dad, what’s going on?” Lin Qin asked, voice trembling.
Zhou Ran looked at her and smiled meaningfully. “You’re Lin Qin?”
Lin Qin stared at him warily. “Who are you? What are you doing in my house?”
Zhou Ran didn’t answer. He turned to Father Lin. “You tell her.”
Father Lin had no choice. He forced himself to speak. “Qin’er, this is Eldest Miss. They… they want you to go with them for a while.”
“Why? Why do I have to go with them?” Lin Qin’s eyes widened, full of confusion and resistance.
Father Lin hesitated, then said, “They said you can be Eldest Miss’s lucky charm. If you go with them for five years, they’ll give us one million.”
A deep chill spread through Lin Qin’s heart.
“You’re really going to sell me for one million?”
“Dead girl, don’t be ungrateful!” Mother Lin snapped. “Getting to be Eldest Miss’s lucky charm is your blessing!”
Tears burst from Lin Qin’s eyes. “I don’t want to! Mom, please…”
She dropped to her knees and clutched Mother Lin’s clothes, begging. “Weren’t you going to arrange an engagement? I’ll marry someone. Please don’t sell me to someone else.”
Before leaving, Su Qian had already told Lin Qin to put on a good show in front of her family. Su Qian would handle the rest.
Lin Qin didn’t know what Su Qian was planning, but she knew Su Qian was helping her, and that was enough.
“You damn girl!” Mother Lin flung Lin Qin’s hand away and glared at her. “Even Yuan Biao doesn’t want you anymore! Eldest Miss can pay one million. Stop making noise and go with them!”
Lin Qin stumbled from the shove, almost falling. She stared at Mother Lin in despair, tears spilling again.
“Mom, how can you be this cruel? I’m your daughter.”
Father Lin frowned, annoyed. “Enough. This is for your own good. Follow Eldest Miss, and you’ll have endless wealth and glory.”
Lin Tian Ci opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but when he caught Zhou Ran’s smiling face out of the corner of his eye, he swallowed the words.
He didn’t want to get beaten again.
At that moment, Su Qian lifted her eyes, her gaze cool. “Since she doesn’t want to, forget it. We’re leaving.”
“Got it, Eldest Miss.” Zhou Ran answered immediately.
Playing hard to get, huh? He knew that move.
The Lin family panicked.
Father Lin hurriedly said, “Eldest Miss, don’t! This girl doesn’t know what’s good for her. Please don’t take it personally. We’ll make sure she goes with you.”
