Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Are You a Face-Changing Master?
Lin Tian Ci rushed home, seething. He didn’t dare go ask Yuan Biao why. Just from the tone on the phone, he already knew.
If he went, he’d definitely end up with a broken leg.
“Tian Ci, what’s wrong? Why are you in such a panic?” Father Lin asked, smoking.
Lin Tian Ci looked frantic. “Dad, something huge happened. Brother Biao doesn’t want that damn girl anymore.”
“Didn’t you all agree on it already?” Father Lin frowned, his cigarette hanging in midair.
Lin Tian Ci spun around, anxious and furious. “How would I know?”
He yelled, “Isn’t it all because of you? I told you ages ago-we should’ve tied that damn girl up and sent her to Brother Biao. Once the money was in our hands, would we have all this trouble?”
Father Lin and Mother Lin knew they were at fault, so neither of them spoke.
Suddenly, the roar of car engines rose from downstairs. Hearing it, they all looked out the window.
A line of luxury cars had parked downstairs in perfect formation. The lead car was a Lamborghini, and behind it was a Bugatti Veyron.
Lin Tian Ci’s jaw dropped. “Holy crap, that’s flashy as hell!”
Father Lin and Mother Lin were pulled over too, both of them stunned.
Father Lin muttered, “Who’s here? What kind of lineup is this?”
The neighbors were drawn in as well.
Some of them even craned their necks out the window, staring at the luxury cars below and the mysterious arrivals.
“This has to be some big-time tycoon, showing up with this many cars.”
“Maybe they’re here to see someone important.”
Everyone chattered, guessing who it could be.
The car doors opened. Zhou Ran climbed out first from the front passenger side, still wearing that arrogant, untouchable expression.
After getting out, he looked disgusted.
Like a filthy, rundown place like this didn’t deserve to exist in the same world as him.
The bodyguards in the other cars got out in unison, lining up neatly, faces cold.
“Eldest Miss, we’re here.”
Zhou Ran jogged over and opened the door for Su Qian, his tone respectful.
Su Qian gave a slight nod, stepped out with perfect poise, and adjusted the sunglasses on her face.
“Eldest Miss!” the bodyguards shouted together.
The sound was loud and perfectly synchronized.
Su Qian lifted a hand, signaling them to quiet down.
“Lead the way,” Su Qian said to Zhou Ran.
Zhou Ran hurried to the front to guide them, and the black-clad bodyguards followed close behind.
Their footsteps echoed through the narrow stairwell.
Upstairs, the Lin family heard the commotion, and their anxiety only grew.
“Tian Ci, you didn’t offend someone again lately, did you?” Mother Lin’s face went pale.
Lin Tian Ci shook his head in a panic. “I don’t know!”
While they were talking, Su Qian and the others had already reached their door.
The moment the door opened, Father Lin saw Su Qian and Zhou Ran standing there, with a crowd of intimidating black-clad bodyguards behind them.
His heart clenched. He had no idea who these people were or what they wanted.
Su Qian gave a small nod. “Wait outside.”
“Yes, Eldest Miss!”
The bodyguards answered in one voice, loud and powerful, echoing down the hallway.
“Is that… you?”
The Lin family thought the girl looked familiar.
Only then did they realize-the girl being called Eldest Miss was the “friend of Lin Yue” from yesterday.
They exchanged uneasy looks, their hearts tightening.
Zhou Ran stepped forward, his expression arrogant as he looked them over. “You’re the Lin family, right? Tsk, don’t be nervous. We’re not here to cause trouble.”
Hearing they weren’t here to cause trouble, the Lin family finally breathed out.
“Please, come in, come in.” Mother Lin hurried to welcome them, warmly ushering them inside.
“Old Lin, hurry and make tea. Tian Ci, bring out the fruit from the fridge.” Mother Lin spoke while bustling around.
Father Lin quickly put down his cigarette and went to make tea.
Lin Tian Ci was still confused, but he didn’t dare slack off. He rushed to the fridge to get fruit.
Su Qian stepped inside, expression calm.
Zhou Ran, quick to read the room, wiped the sofa and had Su Qian sit down.
Then he shot Su Qian a look, like he was asking, “Should I start?”
Su Qian nodded, her lips curving into a faint smile. Fine-then she would quietly watch him perform.
Zhou Ran was thrilled. The performance began!
“What kind of garbage is this? And you think it’s good enough to serve our Eldest Miss?” He frowned, staring at the tea and watermelon on the table with open disgust.
The Lin family immediately felt awkward, standing off to the side, restless and stiff.
“Don’t be nervous.” Zhou Ran sat down, legs crossed, looking lazy and slick. “We’re here because we have a business deal to discuss with you.”
“A business deal?” Mother Lin’s face lit up. “Good, good, please go on, please go on.”
She’d been scared to death, thinking they came to cause trouble.
Turns out it was the God of Wealth.
“I heard you have a daughter too?” Zhou Ran asked casually.
The Lin family exchanged looks.
Mother Lin’s smile froze for a moment, then she forced it back. “Yes, we have a daughter. Her name is Lin Qin. Why do you ask…?”
Zhou Ran’s lips curled into a meaningful smile.
“One million. We want your daughter.” He grinned, like he was talking about buying something cheap.
“O-one million?” Lin Tian Ci’s lips trembled, and greedy light burst into his eyes.
Father Lin and Mother Lin were too shocked to speak.
Zhou Ran’s face changed in an instant. “Did I tell you to speak?”
“Someone, slap him!”
The moment he gave the order, two black-clad bodyguards stepped forward.
“Don’t-” Lin Tian Ci went pale and clapped a hand over his mouth.
Father Lin and Mother Lin watched in terror, not daring to plead.
The bodyguards walked up without expression.
One grabbed Lin Tian Ci by the arm. The other raised his hand and slapped him hard across the face.
A sharp smack echoed through the room.
Lin Tian Ci’s head buzzed, and burning pain flared across his cheek.
His eyes went wide, fear and humiliation twisting together.
Father Lin and Mother Lin’s hearts ached, but they didn’t dare move. They could only watch their son get hit.
“Sorry about that.” Zhou Ran smiled again, gentle as ever. “When I’m talking, I don’t like people interrupting.”
A true face-changing master.
Zhou Ran continued, “Now, let’s go back to the deal we were discussing.”
Lin Tian Ci bit his lip, not daring to show any dissatisfaction.
After all, that was one million.
Handing Lin Qin to Brother Biao would only get them three hundred thousand.
What was one slap? If they really paid one million, he wouldn’t even complain if they kicked him a few more times.
“Tsk, talk. What, are you mute?” Zhou Ran looked annoyed.
He stood and kicked Lin Tian Ci hard.
Lin Tian Ci: “???”
The kick sent him sprawling to the floor, and he grimaced in pain.
Confused. Blank. Wronged.
Didn’t you just say I wasn’t allowed to talk?
“Oh, I almost forgot.” Zhou Ran added with a bright smile. “After I finish talking, I don’t like it when people just stare and don’t answer.”
He smiled wider. “My temper isn’t very good. You don’t mind, right?”
