Chapter 22
Chapter 22: The wound-healing pill’s Effects
Seeing sweat bead on Zhou Shu Yu’s forehead from the pain, Zhou Ran quickly pulled his hand back, full of guilt.
“Bro, I was just worried about your injury. Does it hurt?”
“What do you think?” Zhou Shu Yu nearly lost his composure.
He had just pinched his brother’s wound,
then asked if it hurt?
Zhou Shu Yu could endure pain, but he wasn’t made of iron.
The wound on his arm was so deep the bone was visible, and he had just gotten more than ten stitches.
With that pinch, Zhou Shu Yu felt like the stitched wound was about to split, and a bit of blood seeped through the gauze.
He frowned.
Looking at Zhou Ran’s guilty face, Zhou Shu Yu didn’t have the heart to explode.
“What’s wrong with you today, child? So clumsy.” Mother Zhou stood to the side, looking at her thoughtless son, completely helpless.
“If you’re really that bored, go learn business properly from your brother. Don’t spend every day chasing supercars and women,” Father Zhou scolded too.
He sat on the sofa and sighed.
These two sons were complete opposites.
Zhou Shu Yu was mature and steady. In business, he was decisive and fierce – a standout among the younger generation.
As for Zhou Ran, he only knew how to play around. In their circles, he was famous for being a useless spoiled brat.
“Tsk, got it, got it.” Zhou Ran curled his lip, annoyed at the old man’s nagging.
Seeing Zhou Shu Yu getting ready to go upstairs, Zhou Ran hurriedly stopped him. “Bro, sorry about earlier. I was reckless. I have a painkiller here – want to try it?”
After struggling with himself for a long time, Zhou Ran still decided to let Zhou Shu Yu try the wound-healing pill.
He just didn’t say it was a wound-healing pill.
If he said that out loud, his family would definitely think he’d been fooled by some scammer.
Zhou Shu Yu frowned. “No need. The doctor already prescribed medicine for me.”
Zhou Ran wasn’t satisfied. “Bro, just try it. Maybe it works better than what the doctor gave you.”
Zhou Shu Yu looked at his brother’s eager eyes and sighed. “Fine. Give it to me.”
Zhou Ran quickly handed the wound-healing pill to Zhou Shu Yu.
Zhou Shu Yu took it and glanced at it, confused.
It looked pitch-black and gave off a strange smell.
What painkiller is this big?
But since it was his brother’s good intention, he couldn’t refuse.
Zhou Shu Yu swallowed the wound-healing pill and said, “Happy now?”
Then he walked upstairs with steady steps.
Zhou Ran watched his brother nervously, his heart uneasy. He didn’t know if the wound-healing pill would really work.
Zhou Shu Yu had only just reached his bedroom door when he felt the pain ease a little.
He frowned. “Is it my imagination?”
He stood there, full of doubt.
He slowly raised his bandaged arm and moved it a little. The sharp, stabbing pain really had weakened a lot.
He started taking that strange “painkiller” seriously.
Zhou Shu Yu went into his room, sat down, and carefully felt the changes as time passed.
The more he sensed it, the more certain he became that the pill was unusual.
The pain kept fading, and there was even a warm current slowly flowing through the area, bringing a strangely comfortable feeling.
Early the next morning,
Zhou Shu Yu realized the pain in his arm was completely gone. The wound area felt numb and itchy.
After thinking for a moment, he removed the bandages, and his pupils shook.
“This… how is this possible?”
The bone-deep wound had already healed, leaving only a faint pink mark.
Zhou Shu Yu couldn’t believe his eyes. He gently touched it, making sure it wasn’t an illusion.
A storm surged through Zhou Shu Yu’s mind.
“Zhou Ran.”
He immediately got up and strode to Zhou Ran’s room, knocking hard.
Inside, Zhou Ran was still asleep. He was jolted awake by the knocking.
He rubbed his eyes, yawned, and opened the door. “Bro, what’s wrong? It’s so early.”
“Look at this wound.” Zhou Shu Yu held out his arm.
Zhou Ran stared, then his eyes widened.
He was stunned too. “I must not be awake. This has to be a hallucination.”
Zhou Shu Yu stared at Zhou Ran seriously. “Where did you get that pill?”
A bone-deep wound healing overnight was like a miracle.
Even the most advanced medical technology, inside or outside the country,
couldn’t possibly do that!
Zhou Ran hesitated. He steadied himself and said slowly, “Bro, my friend gave it to me.”
Zhou Shu Yu frowned, lost in thought.
He knew Zhou Ran’s friends – most of them were party buddies.
How could they possibly produce something like this?
Zhou Shu Yu didn’t think Zhou Ran was telling the truth.
Zhou Shu Yu stared at him. “Are you sure it was from your friend? Not from some unreliable place?”
“Bro, I’m sure. My friend knows a lot about medicine. This pill is supposedly her family’s ancestral secret recipe.”
Afraid Zhou Shu Yu would keep digging, Zhou Ran added, “Tsk, an ancestral secret recipe, get it? It means you’re not supposed to ask too much.”
Zhou Shu Yu fell silent for a moment.
His sharp mind smelled a business opportunity.
But before he could speak, Zhou Ran had already shut the door. “Her ancestral secret recipe can’t be passed on. Bro, don’t even think about it.”
Zhou Shu Yu stood there, frowning.
He knew Zhou Ran had a point.
An ancestral secret recipe was usually treated as a family’s priceless treasure, not something casually shared.
But the pill’s miraculous effect was truly tempting.
…
Su Qian spent the whole night thinking about how to deal with the Lin Family’s mess. She only dozed off for a short while near dawn.
Then her phone woke her up again.
“An unknown number?” Su Qian stared at the screen, puzzled.
Then she seemed to think of something, and the corner of her lips lifted.
“Figured it out?”
The moment she answered, before the other side could speak, Su Qian said it first.
On the other end, Zhou Ran froze.
He hadn’t even made a sound, and Su Qian had already guessed it was him.
“Tsk, what, you can tell the future now?”
Zhou Ran sounded excited. “Su Qian, that pill of yours is insane!”
Su Qian wasn’t surprised. She already knew what Zhou Ran was going to say next.
“The partnership – we can talk about it in detail.”
Sure enough, it was exactly what Su Qian expected.
Once Zhou Ran had seen the pill’s effect, the cooperation was basically guaranteed.
“I’m busy right now.” Su Qian thought of the Lin Family mess that still wasn’t handled. “Right, near County No. 2 High School, do you have connections? Help me ask about someone.”
Zhou Ran paused, then laughed. “Tsk, you really asked the right person. In all of Lin Jiang City, there’s nothing I can’t handle. Say what you need.”
