Irritated, Immortal Maiden Azure Luan flicked both of them on the forehead. She scolded without mercy: “If I hadn’t come, you would both be dead.”

She went on with a snort: “You two went to kill someone and did not even call me. If I hadn’t asked that old man Wu Wei a couple of questions, I wouldn’t have known you came to Flying Cloud Sect.” At Ninghua Sect, when the deadline passed and the two still had not returned, they guessed something had gone wrong and rushed to Flying Cloud Sect, running into Immortal Maiden Azure Luan on the way. She asked, Daoist Wu Wei told her everything, and because Master Ling Xiao had broken through to Void Refinement, she had brought her sealed cultivation with her. She was glad she had.

She eased up and joked: “Immortal Maiden, please don’t flick me. I am already badly hurt. If you flick me again, I might faint.” With Azure Luan here, her heart finally relaxed.

“Badly hurt?” Immortal Maiden Azure Luan frowned. She had not yet checked their condition. With a sweep of Divine Sense, she found both were indeed gravely injured. Her expression sharpened with anger.

Master Ling Xiao scoffed, his face full of disdain as he said: “Big words. I have yet to hold you accountable for breaking into my Flying Cloud Sect, and you dare lift a hand against me? Tricks and crooked methods will never stand on the main stage. You are the ones linked to the Malevolent Spirit.”

He pointed at them like a judge and roared: “Now that you are here, none of you will leave. All of you will be buried for Mu Mu’s life.”

Immortal Maiden Azure Luan’s lips curled: “So what if I broke in? I will not only break in, I will beat you on your own turf.” She tilted her chin toward Bai Mu Mu as she added, blunt and bored: “The one using crooked methods is Bai Mu Mu, but forget it. It is useless explaining to idiots like you.” She had only one plan: beat them until they believed. “I will say it now. Bai Mu Mu must die.”

They moved at the same instant, bodies turning into streaks of light. Panic surged in Bai Mu Mu’s chest. She knew who Immortal Maiden Azure Luan really was and how strong she could be.

Trading blows, the two fighters shifted to a wider space outside. At the level of a Void Refinement Stage duel, Shen Sang Ruo could only barely make out parts of the fight and had to tell them apart by the colors of their light.

After a few exchanges, Master Ling Xiao realized with shock that Azure Luan’s supposedly “crooked” power was more solid than his own hard-earned cultivation.
