Chapter 195
Chapter 195: You May As Well Say I Haven’t Seen The World
Upon Ye He Qi’s reminder, Shi Zi Chu thought of her mother.
The beauty.
That woman, with an unparalleled face, a supreme water spiritual root, and the rare water yin bone within her.
Such a combination was simply the epitome of a natural furnace, and an indestructible one at that.
When she fell into Water Road Village, her mind had already been damaged. Thus, no one knew what had happened before she arrived.
But whatever it was, it certainly wasn’t a pleasant situation.
Shi Zi Chu wanted to ask the beauty about it, but the beauty had absorbed too much power and fallen into a deep sleep.
Leaning against the carriage wall, Ye He Qi observed Shi Zi Chu.
Staring at her captivating face, he seemed to murmur in admiration, “I almost pity you.”
The supreme spiritual root was a rare, shining talent, but she happened to have a water spiritual root and a face that could charm the world. If she had been born into a better family, it might have been bearable, but she came from no lineage at all.
Now, her body had problems too. It seemed hopeless.
“Isn’t it natural for my husband to pity me?” Shi Zi Chu smiled and then posed coquettishly, her hands on her chest, “Husband won’t treat me as a furnace, will you?”
Her body indeed needed to be examined and fixed as soon as possible, or it would become a great hindrance.
“Try to look a little more sincere when pretending to be pitiful. Your eyes are too obvious with that smile.” Ye He Qi chuckled, offering a critique.
Treat Shi Zi Chu as a furnace?
First, he didn’t enjoy trivializing matters; second, he wasn’t crazy; and finally, it was enough that Shi Zi Chu didn’t treat him like a furnace.
Shi Zi Chu glared at him, her expression saying, Clan Chief Ye, you’re not being cooperative at all.
“Madam, I’d thank the heavens if you didn’t treat me as a furnace,” Ye He Qi responded symbolically before adding, “We’ve arrived.”
After getting down, he reached out to help her, but before he could, Shi Zi Chu had already lifted her skirt and nimbly jumped down.
Ye He Qi calmly withdrew his arm and, walking ahead, said, “Daoist Shi, in the spirit of my full sincerity, could we discuss Elder Ye Cheng and Zhi Rou’s matters a little more?”
Shi Zi Chu smiled lightly, “Clan Chief Ye, your sincerity cannot be doubted, but my request isn’t too much. So far, the culprit hasn’t come to apologize to me. How am I supposed to reconcile?”
Ye He Qi sighed, his face showing some frustration. “Daoist Shi…”
“Clan Chief Ye, don’t spoil my mood,” Shi Zi Chu smiled and interrupted him.
Ye He Qi stopped speaking and led her inside.
The inn’s shopkeeper had already enthusiastically welcomed them and was about to take them to the upstairs private room when Shi Zi Chu’s soft and gentle voice interjected, “Going to the private room every time is too boring. I think that table over there looks nice.”
The shopkeeper paused for a moment before quickly glancing at Ye He Qi’s expression.
Ye He Qi nodded.
The shopkeeper swiftly turned and guided them to a square table in the corner.
Once seated, the shopkeeper warmly asked, “Do either of you have a preference for the dishes? All our delicacies are made with premium spirit vegetables and spirit meats!”
Ye He Qi raised his hand slightly, signaling for Shi Zi Chu to order.
Shi Zi Chu decisively listed a few of her favorite dishes and then asked the shopkeeper to bring the house’s signature items.
The shopkeeper noted everything down and hurried to notify the kitchen.
The inn’s business was booming, and soon enough, every square table in the main hall was occupied.
Shi Zi Chu held her teacup, observing her surroundings with great interest.
Ye He Qi took a sip of tea and looked up, seeing Shi Zi Chu’s eager expression.
“Daoist Shi,” Ye He Qi’s gentle voice, laced with a smile, deepened as she looked his way. “If you like it, I’ll bring you here often.”
Shi Zi Chu glanced sideways. “Clan Chief Ye, you may as well just say I’ve never seen the world.”
“That would be too direct,” Ye He Qi’s smile deepened.
Shi Zi Chu flashed a faint smile. “Clan Chief Ye…”
“Shi Zi Chu?!”
A harsh voice interrupted her teasing words.
Both Shi Zi Chu and Ye He Qi raised their eyes in unison, their gazes flickering with surprise.
Meng Yun Jiao looked at Shi Zi Chu, sitting there with a smile that could charm men, and sneered coldly. “Are you so desperate you can’t live without a man?!”
Shi Zi Chu appeared to have heard something amusing. She glanced at Ye He Qi and flirted, “Has Clan Chief Ye been charmed by me?”
Her gaze, soft and alluring, seemed to carry hooks within it, captivating and enchanting, almost hypnotic.
Ye He Qi’s smile remained, but his eyes held a flicker of warning.
He wasn’t someone who remained unaffected, and if needed, he could return every flirtatious glance. He wouldn’t let anyone think he was inconsiderate.
Meng Yun Jiao, seeing Shi Zi Chu’s shameless behavior, took out a whip and swung it toward her. “You vixen! Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson!”
No need for Shi Zi Chu to act or for Ye He Qi to step in. The guards accompanying them drew their swords and struck.
The whip was sent flying, and Meng Yun Jiao was kicked from behind and slammed to the ground.
“Ah!!”
As Meng Yun Jiao’s face twisted in pain, Shi Zi Chu rested her chin in her hand, watching with great enjoyment.
Meng Yun Jiao struggled, yelling, “I’m the eldest miss of Jade Void Sect! How dare you strike me?!”
“Mmhmm, right, right,” Shi Zi Chu replied softly, her smile warm and gentle, “You’re the noble eldest miss of Jade Void Sect. So what?”
Meng Yun Jiao glared at her, eyes burning with resentment and jealousy. “You shameless wench!!”
The guard swung a wide slap, landing hard on Meng Yun Jiao’s face, swelling half of it instantly.
Shi Zi Chu was in high spirits and tossed a bag of spirit stones toward the guard.
The guard caught the pouch and bowed respectfully. “Thank you for the gift, young miss.”
“Throw her out,” Shi Zi Chu set her teacup down and said, “She’s ruining my appetite.”
The guard glanced at Ye He Qi and then obediently picked up Meng Yun Jiao, tossing her out.
The diners, who had been secretly watching, quickly turned their gazes away, pretending not to notice. It was almost comical.
Moments later, a group of people appeared at the door.
Chu Zhi Rou supported the swollen-faced Meng Yun Jiao, whispering something to her.
Behind them, several unfamiliar men and women followed.
Shi Zi Chu and Ye He Qi exchanged a quick, meaningful glance.
The person they had been waiting for had arrived.
“Senior Sister?”
Chu Zhi Rou exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise. “Big Brother?!”
“Third Junior Sister.” Shi Zi Chu’s innocent, beautiful face lit up with a smile, and she waved warmly.
“Zhi Rou,” Ye He Qi greeted gently, his voice warm, the perfect big brother. “It’s been a while since we last met, how have you been?”
The perfectly timed concern warmed Chu Zhi Rou’s heart, and just as she was about to answer, Meng Yun Jiao spoke up first.
“Junior Sister Zhi Rou, don’t listen to them! Shi Zi Chu, this wretch…”
Ye He Qi raised his hand, using his spiritual power to seal Meng Yun Jiao’s mouth, his smile fading slightly. “Are you very close with this Daoist Meng?”
Chu Zhi Rou, ever observant, replied, “Meng Senior Sister is Senior Uncle Meng’s daughter. I couldn’t just ignore her, given our sect bond.”
After expressing her stance, she cautiously asked, “Big Brother, what happened here?”
From Big Brother’s attitude, it seemed he wasn’t very fond of Meng Yun Jiao?
Meng Yun Jiao, her face still swollen, turned to Chu Zhi Rou, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Sect bond?
Hadn’t they been best friends?
