“Get angry. The angrier the better,” the True Devil mocked: “Do you want to watch your carefully raised Disciple get swallowed, bit by bit, by Devil Seeds? Her end will be worse than Yu Mo’s. Should I help you remember how Yu Mo died?”

The True Devils burst into harsh laughter. In truth, they somewhat regretted killing Yu Mo and letting loose the madwoman Ember. But that could never be said aloud. Yu Mo’s death was Ember’s deepest wound. Today, they would force Ember to suffer that pain again—watching her secret weapon, the Human Race’s future hope, get crushed right before her eyes. “You wish!” Ember gritted out as she turned to break away.

“City Lord Yu, trying to run now? Isn’t it too late? Before our eyes, do you really think you can Dual Focus?” the True Devil sneered as he chased, sending attack after attack at Ember: “Save Li, and you die here today. Don’t save her, and you can watch her die in front of you.”

The leader gave a cold snort. With a flick of his hand, a huge Water Screen opened before him, showing the scene of nine Void Refinement Devil Seeds descending.

“To send those nine Peak of Void Refinement Devil Seeds, the Heaven Severing Lands paid a heavy price,” he said while keeping up the pressure and glancing at Ember with lazy calm: “City Lord Yu, how many treasures did you give her? Enough for her to kill all nine Peaks?”

A true prodigy traveling outside surely carried some treasures. Yet any treasure that let you kill above your level would burn enormous spiritual power with each use. Even the best treasure could only be used a few times. How many could Li use? How many could she kill?

Driven to the edge, Ember let out a roar. Thunder rained down, tearing a crack across the sky.

“City Lord Yu, watch how Li dies,” the three True Devils said coldly as they rushed in to meet her.

In the Water Screen, Li Shuang and You Lan also unleashed everything they had. Li Shuang, heart aching, used the needle-shaped treasure given by the Grand Elder and wiped out one Peak of Void Refinement in a single blow. You Lan spent her only Ninth-Grade Thunderfire Bead and blasted another Peak to ash.

“Well now, they do carry good toys,” the True Devil chuckled: “But using them once must have cost them a lot of spiritual power. Even if they have more treasures, how many more times can they activate them, City Lord Yu?”
