Chapter 001
Chapter 1: Start Over
People in the Supreme Sect are all idiots. This was Ye Wan Wan’s final lesson before she died. It carries into this life. Nothing has changed.
Ye Wan Wan knelt on Black Ice Cliff for two days before she finally accepted it: she was alive again.
Across two wars between the Immortals and Devil, her master and six senior brothers used Seven Swords to seal her heart meridians; in the end, one sword pierced her chest, and she died at the hands of the master she respected most. Right before she died, each of them told her that the biggest regret of their life was meeting her, Ye Wan Wan.
She entered the sect at five. She became a disciple at six. She reached Qi Refining at eight. She built her Foundation Establishment at twelve. She formed her core at fifteen. Everyone knew Ye Wan Wan was the top genius of the entire Supreme Sect, the junior sister cherished by everyone on Azure Cloud Peak.
But after the younger Ye Qian arrived, everything changed. Ye Wan Wan went from being the junior sister to being the seventh senior sister. From then on, her cultivation stalled, while Ye Qian rose in one leap to become the Supreme Sect’s first genius. With talent surpassing Ye Wan Wan, she became the second cultivator in the Supreme Sect to break through the Golden Core Stage at fifteen, only one year after joining. The master’s favor and the senior brothers’ eyes all turned to her.
People said that because Ye Wan Wan’s cultivation stopped, she lost her senior brothers’ affection, became twisted and miserable, and from jealousy smashed Ye Qian’s Golden Core on purpose. She was then expelled from the sect, cast aside, and finally fell into the Devil Realm, where her master and senior brothers personally killed her. Not even her body was left whole.
When she woke again, it was now. She was back on the third day of her punishment for “deliberately” shattering Ye Qian’s Golden Core: after having her own Golden Core dug out, she was forced to kneel on Black Ice Cliff.
With her Golden Core gone and the cliff’s cold wind cutting into her, her foundation had been destroyed in her past life for this very reason. In the end she had no choice but to walk the path of a Talisman Cultivator.
She never had many people she treated with a true heart. She spent that small amount of true heart in this Cultivation World, on the bonds with her fellow disciples on Azure Cloud Peak, and in return ended as a Dead Soul. [Fine. Since they did not want it, I will take it back.]
Ye Wan Wan stopped kneeling and sat down. She lowered her head and looked at her hands.
With her Golden Core dug out, her remaining cultivation was falling apart bit by bit. In just three days she had dropped from Foundation Establishment back to Qi Refining. In less than three months, all her cultivation would be gone. [Rather than let three months grind it away, I will do it myself.]
She lifted her hand and quickly drew an Attack Talisman. The Black Ice Cliff wind was already fierce, blade sharp, slicing skin open to the bone. Ye Wan Wan suddenly gathered all that power to herself and drove it straight into her body. To be exact, into her dantian.
The guarding senior brother’s pupils shrank as he shouted: “What are you doing?”
Ye Wan Wan raised her eyes and smiled: “Destroying myself.”
The icy blades slashed into her dantian. In an instant they bored through Ye Wan Wan. As blood spread from her body and stained the snow red beneath her, her face twisted with pain yet looked free and bright.
“What you gave me, I return it all to you!” she said: “From now on, we owe nothing.”
“Save her, now!” People screamed around her, but Ye Wan Wan ignored them.
She reached out and caught the falling snow. She was free.
Ye Wan Wan had gone mad. The Supreme Sect’s recognized first genius, after smashing her junior sister’s Golden Core, had destroyed all her own cultivation and become a cripple. She was mad.
At the bamboo hut at the foot of the mountain, the eldest senior brother Ji Chang Huai’s angry voice sounded by her ear as he scolded her: “Why were you so reckless? I already told you, in three months I would beg the master to let you down. What are you doing now, trying to make us feel guilty? Everyone is saying Azure Cloud Peak mistreated you, that junior sister hurt you. Are you happy?”
Happy? She was.
Three months later, even without self destruction, she would have been finished anyway. Ye Wan Wan let out a cold laugh: “Heh.”
Ji Chang Huai snapped: “What are you laughing at!”
Ye Wan Wan opened her eyes and said: “At your stupidity.”
The gentle, scholarly face before her belonged to the eldest senior brother she knew, one of the people she respected most in her past life. But Ye Wan Wan did not miss the coldness in his eyes. He did not care about her; he only hated that she had caused him trouble and harmed Ye Qian’s reputation.
Ye Wan Wan would never forget that when she “shattered” Ye Qian’s Golden Core and begged him to believe it was not her, Ji Chang Huai never believed her even once. He only pushed her away and said, “I am too disappointed in you.” When they met again after that, it was his sword that pierced her heart. [A senior brother like this is not worth keeping.]
Ji Chang Huai frowned and asked: “What is that look?”
“However senior brother looks at me is how I look at senior brother, so whatever eyes you say I have,” Ye Wan Wan said, staring straight back without changing her expression.
Ji Chang Huai’s heart gave a jolt. With the rumors outside saying Ye Wan Wan had gone mad, and seeing her cold eyes now, he wondered if she really had.
His gaze grew even colder. Power surged into his palm as he grabbed Ye Wan Wan by the throat and said in an icy voice: “Whoever you are, get off my junior sister.”
“Get off,” he ordered.
Ye Wan Wan’s face did not change.
Ji Chang Huai’s eyes shifted again and again. Then, without another word, he pressed his palm over Ye Wan Wan’s Heaven Spirit and said: “Soul search.”
Soul Search Art is a domineering technique that ignores the target’s will and forces a look at the other person’s Primordial Spirit. If done poorly, it can damage the mind and cause unknown results. Ye Wan Wan’s body was extremely weak now and could not bear such harm.
A fierce force and tearing pain drove into her mind. Her head felt like it would explode. She wanted to scream, but no sound came out. Both her body and her Primordial Spirit felt ripped apart. When she opened her mouth, only blood poured out. A lot of blood.
After a long time, Ji Chang Huai stood there dazed and said: “Primordial Spirit… correct.”
It really was the junior sister. Not a takeover.
Blood covered Ye Wan Wan’s chest and stained her lips, yet she still smiled and said: “It is me, senior brother. I am Ye Wan Wan. I never changed.”
Only then did Ji Chang Huai realize he was still gripping her neck. He flinched and pulled back in fright. But bruises had already formed on her throat, and the blood from her mouth did not stop. He reached toward her in a panic and said: “I am sorry, junior sister, sorry, I thought you…”
Ye Wan Wan did not have the strength to respond. The pain was too much. Destroying her cultivation was already unbearable. Ji Chang Huai’s palm strike almost shattered her last breath. She clenched her teeth. She did not want to fall in front of this man. But she did not know how fragile she was now.
Seeing the doll before him about to break, Ji Chang Huai truly panicked and said: “I will pass you spiritual power. I will pass you spiritual power, junior sister. Do not be afraid.”
He hurried to send her spiritual power.
Ye Wan Wan rasped something, but no sound came out.
“What did you say?” Ji Chang Huai asked, nervous.
With a mocking look, Ye Wan Wan said: “I am… not your junior sister… your junior sister is… outside.”
Sensing something, Ji Chang Huai turned toward the door. A blue clad girl stood there, eyes filled with tears. Ji Chang Huai froze and said: “Junior sister.”
