Chapter 94
Chapter 94: Letter to My Wife (2)
Jiang Shi Yue noticed that Fu Qing Han had changed cars again today, and it even seemed to be a limited-edition supercar.
She didn’t know that herself, but her hearing was sharp, and she heard what the onlookers were saying as she walked by.
Li Wen’s eyes were glued to the car. He tried hard to stop himself from drooling, and after a long while he finally squeezed out a few words: “Damn, he’s so damn rich!!”
Then he asked Jiang Shi Yue in an eager, flattering tone, “Boss, is Second Young Master Fu’s top speed really fast?? Riding in a car like this, wouldn’t you be really happy?”
Jiang Shi Yue didn’t answer Li Wen. She also ignored the rows of staring eyes, and simply opened the door and got into the passenger seat.
Of course, she had no idea that after she left today, a piece of gossip started spreading around this area.
A pure, innocent female student-and the story she “had” with the big shot behind her.
Fu Qing Han drove in person today. His eyes swept lightly over Jiang Shi Yue, and he smiled faintly without quite smiling. “Miss Jiang, your outfit today is very special.”
Jiang Shi Yue tilted her head slightly. Her twin ponytails drew a playful arc, and she smiled with narrowed eyes, her lips blooming into a sweet smile. Her white teeth gleamed in the sunlight. “Mission requirements.”
“Going to Run Yuan is also a mission requirement?” Fu Qing Han raised an eyebrow. His gaze stayed on the road ahead, and the curve of his profile was handsome and clear-cut.
“Of course.” Jiang Shi Yue giggled. “Unexpected? Surprised?”
Fu Qing Han smiled lightly and did not comment. He just said calmly, “Someone broke into Run Yuan yesterday. It might have something to do with what you want to do.”
This surprised Jiang Shi Yue a little. She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. “That really is unexpected.”
Then she paused and asked, “So what about them? Did you catch them?”
“No.” Fu Qing Han’s voice was cool and flat, his expression stern. “They disappeared.”
Disappeared? That was even more unexpected.
Run Yuan was out in the suburbs. Standing outside, Jiang Shi Yue could already feel its old, rustic presence. The carved gate was tightly shut.
After a hundred years of wind and rain, the patterns on it were no longer so clear, but time had polished the wood until it was strangely smooth.
Just then, the gate suddenly pushed open. Creaking sounds rang out, and two tall men in black uniforms walked out.
When their eyes landed on Jiang Shi Yue, they looked a little surprised, but they quickly lowered their gaze and spoke respectfully to Fu Qing Han. “Second Young Master, we’ve searched everywhere. Those two really did disappear. Also, nothing inside Run Yuan is missing.”
Fu Qing Han gave a slight nod. Jiang Shi Yue didn’t say anything either, and just walked through the open gate.
This old mansion was truly ancient now, like an elder in their final years.
As time passed, the wood had turned a dull, dark black, full of grooves and cracks. There were even scratch marks from children playing long ago, made deeper and deeper by years of wind and rain.
A few steps forward was the corridor Cheng Ye Zi had mentioned.
The carved wood patterns under the eaves were still exquisite, but the blue-brick path underfoot was no longer intact. In the broken cracks, wild weeds grew in messy, withered yellow clumps.
Beside the corridor was a broad pond, but now it was completely dried up. The water had been drained away. The pond bottom was full of cracks, with dead lotus leaves, and even some scattered trash.
It was impossible to imagine the beautiful lotus pond Cheng Ye Zi had described.
