Madam Zhou steadied herself. As the matriarch of the Zhou family, she had lived this long and seen every kind of storm. Now, her calm and reason finally returned. She took a deep breath, her expression solemn. “Second Young Master Fu, rest assured. Apart from us, no one else will know what happened tonight. We will act as if we saw nothing. Even until we die, we won’t speak a single word.”

Fu Qing Han lowered his eyes slightly. You could not tell if he was pleased or angry. He only said one word, flatly: “Good.”

For the Zhou family to reach their current position, none of them were fools. They knew perfectly well how serious the consequences would be if they offended Fu Qing Han.

Forget about revealing even a single word – every one of them wished they could pay a fortune for a pair of eyes that had never seen this scene.

Night spread across the city’s sky. Thin clouds faintly framed the moonlight like water. The lights of the night still glittered, as if the stars had fallen to earth.

Fu Qing Han stood straight beside the car, watching Jiang Shi Yue enter the Jiang Family’s front door. Only when the living room lights came on did his brow twitch slightly. In the blink of an eye, he was calm again, his eyes as black as spilled ink.

Distant lights dotted the darkness and reflected in his eyes, flickering like lonely flames on the far shore, mysterious and hard to read.

A moment later, Fu Qing Han turned and got into the car. The driver closed the door respectfully. He also glanced at Jiang Meng Qing’s villa under the night sky, his gaze flashing, then started the car and sped away.

Under the cover of night, silence returned.

But inside the Jiang Family’s brightly lit living room, things were far from calm.

Jiang Shi Yue did not come back early. Even so, in the Jiang Family, people would not be asleep at this hour.

So Jiang Shi Yue entered the villa, only to find it pitch-black, as if everyone had gone to bed, or as if no one was home at all.

Jiang Meng Qing had torn up the invitation and forbade anyone in the family from attending the banquet, and he also refused to let Jiang Shi Yue use the banquet as a chance to climb over his head after returning.
