Chapter 56
Chapter 56: The Jiang Family Might Be Late, but They Never Miss
Zhou Tong He’s face darkened. He felt even more that Jiang Shi Yue was petty and small-minded, and it looked like he really did need to discipline her. “Let’s not talk about that yet. After you marry me, I want you to be virtuous and gentle, put me first in everything, and drop out of school – I don’t think a woman reading is useful; serving your husband and raising children is the top priority. Also, I might have other women outside, but don’t worry, they won’t threaten your position as long as you can give birth to an heir.”
Jiang Shi Yue smiled at him and dragged out her words. “You have so many requirements. Can I make one too?”
“Fine, as long as you don’t go too far. I’m a very reasonable person.” Zhou Tong He narrowed his already tiny eyes and leaned back lazily in his chair, his fat belly bulging out, soft and sagging, almost about to burst his shirt.
Jiang Shi Yue spoke slowly, but her voice was crisp. “You ask for a bit too much. I need to discuss it with my boyfriend and see what he thinks. Oh right…” She smiled at him. “You don’t mind that I already have a boyfriend, do you? If not, I can introduce him to you right now – after all, you two will have to meet sooner or later.”
Boyfriend, of course, didn’t exist, but she didn’t mind saying it casually as a shield. She wanted to see what this man would do after she said that.
“Boyfriend?” Zhou Tong He froze, his face visibly worsening as it swelled into a purplish red like liver, making him look even uglier. “What do you mean? Do you have any upbringing at all? How did your parents raise something shameless like you!”
“You can insult my dad, but you can’t insult my mom, okay?” Jiang Shi Yue smiled at Zhou Tong He and let out a faint sigh. “I’m a little angry now.”
Zhou Tong He grew even angrier. He huffed and puffed like he was trying to calm his rage, then his thick fingers suddenly pointed at the seats not far away as he shouted in humiliation and fury, “Fine, so you won’t take the hint, huh? You really think you’re already the Zhou Family’s Young Madam, is that it? What does your Jiang Family mean by this?”
Jiang Shi Yue followed his line of sight with a calm look, and the smile at her lips unconsciously took on a chill.
So her grandfather and grandmother had come too.
By rights, Jiang Meng Qing wouldn’t have felt safe letting her meet alone, but after he tore into her during the day, she hadn’t seen him again.
So her grandfather and grandmother had been watching her too.
The Jiang Family might be late, but they never missed.
Old Master Jiang was already very old, but he was still sharp and full of energy. To be honest, his complexion even looked better than Jiang Meng Qing’s.
Old Madam Jiang looked like she couldn’t stand Jiang Shi Yue at all. She swept her with a disgusted glance, but since Old Master Jiang didn’t speak, she didn’t dare open her mouth.
At this moment, Old Master Jiang walked to Jiang Shi Yue’s side, forcing down his anger. “What nonsense are you talking about? I didn’t bring you here today to embarrass yourself.”
“You had your twenty-year-old granddaughter go on a blind date with a man twenty years older than her. That’s pretty embarrassing too.” Jiang Shi Yue still smiled brightly, yet she said the kind of words that could drive someone crazy.
Old Master Jiang froze. He never expected Jiang Shi Yue to talk back, and his face showed a faint sign of anger, but with Zhou Tong He standing right there, he didn’t want to blow up and lose an elder’s dignity.
