Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Meeting?
But the moment Jiang Shi Yue stood at the stairwell, he grew even more alarmed, because in that instant he seemed to see her back again, standing there and staring at him coldly.
As if she meant to drag him down into hell with her.
…
This meeting was arranged at a restaurant with a quiet, upscale atmosphere. The place was membership-only, and the guests were all big names in C City. Not far away, an attendant played the violin, adding an extra touch of class to the whole restaurant.
Zhou Tong He arrived, and at a glance he spotted Jiang Shi Yue sitting by the window.
Her gaze looked bored as she stared outside. Her profile was delicate and pretty, her lips faintly red, her skin snow-white, and her brows and eyes clear and lovely. Her long hair hung down lazily, adding a strange, hard-to-describe beauty to the girl’s naturally sweet aura.
Zhou Tong He swallowed, and it felt like in the next second he would see this soft little beauty obediently leaning into his arms.
To be honest, he’d had his eye on Jiang Shi Yue years ago. He hadn’t expected this little girl to have grown into her features, looking even better now.
Pure and clean – youth and beauty were her greatest assets.
He walked over and smiled slightly, but the way his face tried to look like a gentleman was honestly ridiculous. “Miss Jiang, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Jiang Shi Yue lifted her eyes and glanced at Zhou Tong He without leaving a trace.
He wasn’t tall, but he’d already gotten quite fat, and his tiny eyes looked at her with a greasy leer.
There was no other word for it but ugly.
And he was oily as hell.
Warning: extremely high grease content!
Jiang Shi Yue nodded with a half-smile that wasn’t quite a smile.
Zhou Tong He got straight to the point. “My intentions – your honored father should have already passed them on, and I also heard that Miss Jiang is very satisfied with me as a person.”
Jiang Shi Yue lazily lifted her eyelids, said nothing, and just listened to him.
Zhou Tong He narrowed his tiny eyes. “Since we’re in love with each other, I’ll start preparing the wedding.”
Jiang Shi Yue still didn’t speak, only waited for him to continue.
Zhou Tong He took it as shyness and looked at her like he understood. “You don’t have to be this nervous. Marrying me is a step up for you, but our Zhou Family doesn’t care that much about status, so you don’t need to feel inferior.”
He tried hard to make his tone sound gentle, but he still couldn’t hide that touch of arrogance.
Jiang Shi Yue smiled, and you couldn’t hear anger in her voice at all, just the same calm as always. “Oh, then Young Master Zhou is really approachable.”
“Of course. I’ve always been easy to talk to. Once you give birth to an heir for me, we can go get our marriage certificate.” Zhou Tong He went on, sounding generous.
Jiang Shi Yue raised a brow, the corner of her lips lifting. “So if I don’t give you a son, I can’t get registered?”
“Don’t put it so harshly.” Zhou Tong He frowned, feeling Jiang Shi Yue didn’t know how to talk, and that once she entered the family, he’d have to teach her properly. “You might not understand the rules in a small household, but once you marry into our family, you can’t be like this anymore.”
His tone carried a sense of charity and handouts, as if marrying him was a blessing for Jiang Shi Yue.
Zhou Tong He added arrogantly, “Also, even though you can marry me, our Zhou Family doesn’t like daughters-in-law who chase pleasure. My parents’ three meals a day – you have to prepare them with your own hands, and you know food made by servants has no soul.”
Jiang Shi Yue asked with a bright smile, “If you want a soul, then when you cook chicken, duck, fish, and meat, do you need to perform a salvation rite too?”
