Chapter 51
Chapter 51: Sudden Turn
In the next second, the corridor lights dimmed a few times, then returned to normal.
But the security camera, unbelievably, turned toward a blind spot.
Then she moved lightly, and in the blink of an eye she reached Song Li Na’s door.
The nurse was rather tall. The eyes above her mask were black and deep, like an old well.
She quietly pushed the closed door open and went inside. She looked at Song Li Na lying on the bed and frowned, then glanced at the night sky outside the window, as if the corner of her mouth twitched upward.
She raised a hand over Song Li Na’s head and slowly spread her fingers. In an instant, five glowing orbs spilled from her fingertips, each about the size of a ping-pong ball. In the next moment, the five orbs merged into one and suddenly turned into a net of light. With a flip of her hand, the net completely covered Song Li Na’s head.
Song Li Na finally jolted awake.
A chilling cold that made her tremble forced her eyes wide open. But the next moment, it was as if countless specks of light flew out from between her brows, sparkling as they spun in the air. They quickly gathered into a single cluster, and the nurse moved fast, sweeping that ball of light into the palm of her hand.
Song Li Na’s terrified eyes gradually turned dull, empty, and hollow.
Her vision went black, and she sank back into deep sleep.
The nurse turned and left.
The corridor was naturally empty.
No one even knew how she left.
Or perhaps everything that had just happened was only an illusion.
*
Overnight, a video spread across the entire internet – the video of Song Li Na going crazy in the hospital. Even though it was pixelated, people still recognized the main person in the video as Professor Song Li Na. The video first came from a group chat, then slowly spread wider and wider.
Of course, this also had something to do with Li Wen pushing it along. He even linked this video to his earlier South City Villa video, and told the netizens that Professor Song had gone crazy because South City Villa was haunted.
That was not even human talk. Who didn’t know his South City Villa haunting was staged? What did it have to do with a university professor losing her mind?
Clout chasers had no conscience.
Yet some netizens vaguely felt the two really were connected.
They even quickly dug up that the owner of South City Villa back then was truly named Shen Mo, and she had killed herself more than twenty years ago.
Wasn’t that perfect? The name Song Li Na kept shouting was “Shen Mo.”
If your heart was clean, would you say that?
The power of the people was endless. Ordinary folks loved gossip after meals, especially the grudges and feuds of the older generation.
Some people told stories that sounded incredibly real. Others took the chance to muddy the waters and exaggerate facts. But under their efforts, “Shen Mo, Song Li Na, South City Villa” climbed onto the social platforms’ trending list.
Li Wen’s fans even jumped again, and people were already coming to him about ad partnerships.
In less than a day, the whole city was in an uproar. Even if you tried to pull it off the trending list, it was too late, because some concerned citizens had even called the police.
Jiang Shi Yue also received a phone call. It was Li Wen, and his voice on the line sounded excited.
“Boss Shi Yue, I found a comment. She said that when she was little, she heard her grandfather talk about Shen Mo.”
Jiang Shi Yue curled a loose strand of hair, unconsciously winding it around her fingertips a few times. “Can you get her to meet? I want to see her.”
