Chapter 5: That Thought Was About to Break Through

The young man’s face had turned bright red, and even breathing felt hard. When he saw the chill in the girl’s eyes, he stared wide in fear. Everything happened too fast – before he could even think it through, he clenched his fist on instinct and swung it viciously at Jiang Shi Yue.

He could actually fight back. [Sigh. I really am so weak I couldn’t even tie up a chicken.]

Jiang Shi Yue let out a sigh and said, not very satisfied, “My mentor said my stamina is on the weak side. Looks like I really am pretty weak.”

As she spoke, Jiang Shi Yue caught the fist he swung.

She didn’t seem to use much strength, but the young man was already in so much pain he couldn’t breathe. He felt like his wrist bone had snapped.

“I’ll talk, I’ll talk…” The young man’s face went deathly pale. He didn’t know if it was from the agony or the terror, but cold sweat kept sliding down from his temples.

It was actually his first day on the job, with zero experience. Under the persuasion of “truth,” he spilled everything at once: “Second Miss sent me. She told me to report Eldest Miss’s whereabouts to her. I really didn’t do anything – I just took a few photos of you, Eldest Miss, going to the nursing facility to visit Eldest Young Master.”

[Who was Second Miss?]

[Who was Eldest Young Master?]

[What the hell was this?]

She did have a brother, that much was true.

“Eldest Young Master… my brother Jiang Han Sheng?” A strange thought suddenly rose in Jiang Shi Yue’s heart. She took a deep breath and frowned hard.

At the same time, she let go.

“Yes, yes.” A Jia spoke hurriedly. He didn’t dare move his right hand at all – it hurt like someone was carving out his heart.

This Eldest Miss was way too strong.

If he’d been a second slower, would she have crushed him?

A Jia didn’t dare think further. With his left hand, he pulled out his phone and quickly opened it. He flipped through the photos in his album and zoomed in to show Jiang Shi Yue.

In the photo, Jiang Shi Yue stood outside a small nursing facility. She was looking up, and a tall, slender figure stood by the window, seemingly staring back at her in silence as well.

Jiang Shi Yue recognized him at a glance. The man in the photo really was her biological brother, and also the youngest genius physician at Imperial Capital Hospital. But in the photo, he looked a little more haggard and pale, and for some reason, he had been locked inside a nursing facility.

Jiang Shi Yue fell silent for a moment, then naturally asked her last question. “Do you know Central City Superpower Academy?”

A Jia froze. He truly didn’t know. That kind of name was so cringey it was stupid. But looking at her expression, it was like she really didn’t want him to not know – so was he supposed to know or not?

A Jia asked weakly, “I’ve really never heard of it. How about we search online?”

To be honest, he really didn’t understand why Jiang Mei Ling wanted him to follow Jiang Shi Yue. In his eyes, this Eldest Miss of the Jiang Family was young, but her brain didn’t work right. Other than being strong, she wasn’t a threat at all.

Looks like this Second Miss’s brain didn’t work right either.

Thinking that, he narrowed his eyes and sneaked a look at Jiang Shi Yue, only to see her seeming lost in thought. But her eyes were bright like stars, and for a moment, he couldn’t look away.

When he followed her in the morning, her eyes had been dull and empty, and she’d been stupid and slow. He had even felt it was a waste of her delicate looks.

The moon hid half behind the clouds. Wind blew in from the distance, and the leaves rustled. Unknown insects chirped in the dark.

Jiang Shi Yue didn’t know why, but when she saw that photo, her headache grew even worse, like in that instant she gained some memory that never should have belonged to her.

Clear, real, vivid.

She was Jiang Shi Yue, and yet she shouldn’t be Jiang Shi Yue.

That thought was about to break through, and a storm was coming.

She had become Jiang Shi Yue from Parallel Time-Space!
