Chapter 41
Chapter 41: There Was No Pattern to Each Episode
Jiang Han Sheng suddenly sprang up from the bed. His refined, handsome features instantly twisted into something ferocious and distorted, especially his eyes, filled with a blood-red color. Where was that warmth and concern from just now? With savage force, he grabbed the nearest person and clamped his hand around Jiang Shi Yue’s throat.
Everything happened too suddenly, leaving no time to react.
Jiang Shi Yue didn’t move at all, letting her brother choke her. She stared without blinking at the brother who seemed like a completely different person. There was no mental power, no one was using any ability, yet he had suddenly fallen into a crazed state. At this moment, he didn’t even know who he was.
And it was like he was enduring some unknown agony. The hand around her neck was strong, but it was trembling badly, too.
Jiang Shi Yue’s eyes stung, and her chest hurt.
How long had her brother been like this? There wasn’t even the slightest trace of it in her memory.
She could slow time, but she couldn’t use it on her brother. That would only stretch out his pain. She had great strength, but she couldn’t bear to use even a bit of force against him.
To others, she looked like she had been scared stupid.
The young nurse was so frightened by the scene that she immediately screamed. Thankfully, a group of doctors rushed over very quickly. Even so, it took them a huge effort to restrain Jiang Han Sheng, and they swiftly gave him an injection of Diazepam.
Watching Jiang Han Sheng slowly stop struggling, watching the blood-red in his eyes fade bit by bit, watching him finally fall asleep from exhaustion, the doctors finally let out a breath and wiped the sweat from their foreheads.
“Miss Jiang, you’ve been frightened,” one of the doctors said soothingly.
But he saw that Jiang Shi Yue didn’t respond. Instead, she picked up the book Jiang Han Sheng had dropped, and carefully brushed the dust off it.
Her expression was calm, as if nothing had happened just now.
Had she been scared dumb?
There were clear red marks from five fingers on Jiang Shi Yue’s long neck. Her skin was already pale, making the marks look even more shocking.
When Jiang Han Sheng went mad, he really meant to kill. If they had arrived one step later, he would have killed his own sister.
The doctor couldn’t help letting out a breath of relief.
Only then did Jiang Shi Yue slowly speak. Her gaze lowered slightly, as if she was thinking about something. “Does my brother often do this?”
“Not really.” The doctor thought for a moment, then said seriously, “There’s no pattern to his episodes. But don’t worry. We’ll do our best to treat him.” As he spoke, he gave a solemn promise.
Jiang Shi Yue’s eyes curved. “Thank you.” She stood up and bowed slightly. “Please take good care of my brother.”
“Don’t worry.” The doctor quickly helped her up.
He thought, this really was a kind and gentle young girl.
Jiang Shi Yue left that small, remote sanatorium. She walked casually along the roadside. It was early spring in C City. Beside the road stood a row of tall camphor trees. When the wind blew, the leaves rustled loudly.
Some leaves were blown down, spinning once near Jiang Shi Yue’s feet before being carried away again by the wind.
It was as if their fate was controlled by the wind.
Jiang Shi Yue stopped and lifted her eyes slightly, looking at the gloomy sky. Her brother’s illness wasn’t as simple as it looked on the surface. So did Jiang Meng Qing know?
Thinking of that person, a chill rose in her almond-shaped eyes, making the girl’s gaze look like icy spring water.
Her brother was the only family in this time and space. She would never watch her brother suffer like this.
She swore it.
