Chapter 32
Chapter 32: South City Villa (10)
Jiang Shi Yue ignored him. She stood up and said lazily, “Of course. We have to bravely fight the forces of evil.”
With that, she walked out of the kitchen. Chen Ze hurried after her, but as soon as he stepped out, he was so scared he nearly left this beautiful world on the spot.
The flashlight beam shook as he saw his brothers all sprawled in the living room, one by one, unconscious.
Then he looked at Jiang Shi Yue. Her expression was completely hidden in the night. Her refined features no longer looked soft like before, and instead carried a chill.
His eyes widened, and a sentence popped into his head: [Kill to silence a witness.]
He trembled all over. His legs shook, and he was so scared his tears were about to fall.
Jiang Shi Yue flicked him a faint glance.
[She’s going to kill me. That look is definitely her about to kill me! QAQ]
Chen Ze backed up in fear and forced a smile that looked like a twitch.
Jiang Shi Yue knew what he was thinking, but she didn’t bother with him. She said bluntly, “Chen Ze, wake them all up.”
Chen Ze didn’t expect her to say that. He finally let out a breath, like he’d been drained. He accepted the order and ran off at once.
When Han Xi Ping woke up, a shrill “There’s a ghost!” burst from his throat. He was chubby to begin with, and when he got scared, his tiny eyes squeezed together like dough being kneaded into a ball.
“How could there be a ghost?” Jiang Shi Yue said calmly. “If there were ghosts, would we still be standing here perfectly fine?”
Beside them, Chen Ze nodded eagerly to play along. Of course, he didn’t forget the grudge about being made to dress as a female ghost. He kicked Han Xi Ping and glared at him fiercely. “Stop yelling. You’ll really attract a ghost.”
But even as he said it, he felt uneasy inside. His still-immature face couldn’t help leaking a trace of fear. He stole a glance at Jiang Shi Yue. He clearly remembered there had been a ghostly shadow in the kitchen.
Since Jiang Zi Chen had just woken up, his brain reacted a little slowly. He stared blankly for a few seconds, then raised his voice too. “There’s a ghost, there really is a ghost!” But as soon as the words left his mouth, he realized his slip. He immediately covered his lips and coughed a few times.
Jiang Shi Yue smiled. “Actually, according to scientific research, when people are extremely afraid, they can see hallucinations. It’s all your mind playing tricks.”
Then she tilted her lips, lowered her voice, and yet spoke each word crisp and clear: “Maybe the ghost is in your own hearts.”
Once she said that, Jiang Zi Chen and the others immediately felt guilty. They had come to South City Villa this time to scare Jiang Shi Yue.
Whether there were ghosts or not, Jiang Shi Yue was far scarier to them than any ghost.
So they actually accepted her explanation that extreme fear could make you see hallucinations.
They couldn’t ask any more either. Ask, and it would turn into “Approaching Science”!
The group fell into a silent understanding and chose not to mention it again.
But right then, a burst of wildly arrogant laughter suddenly came from outside the villa.
In the middle of the night, hearing laughter like that, no one could stay calm.
Han Xi Ping was already scared. A scream jumped out of his throat, and he dashed behind Jiang Shi Yue in one blur. At this moment, he was so nimble he hardly looked like a fatty at all.
The laughter grew louder and louder outside the door, and then a tall boy holding a DV walked in. He was tall and looked solid.
His features were barely passable, but his attitude was so sleazy that everything about him looked annoying.
Behind him followed eight or nine young men with buzz cuts. They gave off a strong “street” vibe. It was obvious they were little thugs.
