Chapter 31
Chapter 31: South City Villa (9)
Jiang Shi Yue was slightly stunned. This was completely beyond what she had expected. She hadn’t thought that more than twenty years ago, in this time and place, there were already other people who knew about mental power.
Her brows knit. She stepped closer without thinking and asked, “Who was that person?”
The young man shook his head. “He said his surname was An. I don’t know anything else… Anyway, thank you. I should leave too.”
The young man’s figure grew more and more transparent, as if he would turn into a wisp of smoke at any second.
“Actually, she heard everything,” Jiang Shi Yue said, looking into the distance. The air became quiet, and it almost felt as if there was a gentle smile from a young girl somewhere unseen.
Born from dust, returning to the stars, they had never truly left. They had become the wind, the clouds, the light. Round and round they went, endless and unbroken, rising and falling in cycles. One day, they would meet again.
The mental power drifting everywhere had, without anyone noticing, been absorbed by Jiang Shi Yue and merged with her own mental power. She drew her hand back in satisfaction, feeling her palm grow hot, as if she had clenched a small flame.
But the feeling was comfortable instead, like curling up on a sofa for a nap, the kind of comfort that let a person relax completely.
The room fell quiet again. Jiang Shi Yue glanced at the few young men on the floor, each one passed out and unconscious.
She didn’t bother with them. She walked straight to the kitchen and pushed the door open in one go. Because he was wearing headphones, Chen Ze couldn’t hear the creak of the door, but that didn’t stop him from seeing it open. He looked up almost without warning.
At the doorway, a pitch-black shadow stared at him in silence.
It clearly had no facial features, yet he still felt her cold gaze.
Chen Ze was so scared his headphones nearly fell off. Earlier, to build up courage, he had been looping those loud, festive songs until he was about to fall asleep. The volume was at the maximum, so he had no idea what had happened outside.
But now, staring at that ghostly shadow, he let out a sharp scream, rolled his eyes, and fainted.
Jiang Shi Yue curled her finger lazily, and the ghost-shaped mist she had released earlier slipped back to her fingertips. She spoke with satisfaction, “Not bad. Looks like evil awareness really can scare people.”
As she spoke, she crouched down. Her eyes blinked, her lashes trembling slightly, and the moonlight softened the light in her gaze. Without holding back, she gave Chen Ze a push.
Chen Ze’s eyes snapped open. He was about to scream when he saw Jiang Shi Yue’s smiling face.
Her eyes curved like crescent moons, and the corners of her lips lifted into a small arc. Under the moonlight, her delicate face seemed covered in a faint glow.
Chen Ze felt his face heat up. Sister Shi Yue was really pretty.
He didn’t know why, but the moment he saw Jiang Shi Yue, he felt strangely safe. His whole body relaxed, and he said in a shaky, almost crying voice, “Sister Shi Yue, I just saw a ghost.”
“You look like a ghost yourself,” Jiang Shi Yue said coolly, giving him a glance.
Chen Ze yanked off his wig, but his real hair got caught by accident. It hurt so much he bared his teeth, but he didn’t have the mood to care. He started throwing blame like crazy, speaking fast as he confessed everything in one breath. “Sister Shi Yue, you already know? Han Xi Ping forced me! I really didn’t want to. Look… I didn’t even go out to scare you, because I thought it was wrong. I was going to fight them!”
