Chapter 3: That Spot Was Aimed Right at His Heart

In the next instant, with a bang, the shattered glass fell onto the soft cashmere carpet and the sound was swallowed whole.

Jiang Shi Yue pinched the beam in her fingers as if she was toying with it. She lifted her eyes to Fu Qing Han, the corner of her mouth tilted up, and her voice held a small, smug pride. “See? I told you. It’s no big deal.”

For Fu Qing Han, he could not see what had happened at all. He only heard the sound of glass breaking and felt the room temperature drop below zero for a split second.

The next second, he saw the girl actually holding a strip of light in her hand. He should not have been able to see it, but the moment she pinched it, it turned into icy snow coated with frost, clearly appearing before his eyes.

A bone-chilling cold rushed at him.

There was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

That spot was aimed right at his heart, not off by even a hair.

The room temperature slowly rose again.

Very quickly, the cold light dripped into water, flowing down through the girl’s slender fingers.

How did she do that?

This… was impossible!

But he had seen it with his own eyes. For the first time in his life, the Fu Family’s Second Young Master showed deep scrutiny and disbelief on his face.

Yet Jiang Shi Yue did not want to answer his questions. She was long used to people’s shocked looks. The reason she was the best student at Central City Superpower Academy was because she had this rare, different kind of ability.

But the sudden assassination attempt had already broken the hotel’s quiet. Noticing the commotion in the presidential suite, the hallway had fallen into chaos, and the sirens of police cars rang clearly from downstairs.

In a panic, the Fu Family’s trusted aide, his subordinate, hammered on the door. Bang, bang, bang. The subordinate’s voice was urgent too. “Second Young Master! Second Young Master!”

Jiang Shi Yue did not want trouble. Even though she had saved him, she did not want to get involved in these weird rich-family grudges. Still, it was strange – how could a rich young master with no mental power not even have a superpowered bodyguard?

Of course, Jiang Shi Yue was not interested in that.

She pushed open the window on the other side. What came into view was a tall parasol tree.

It was over ten meters high.

Below was a quiet garden, with only the night lights flickering in different colors.

They looked like little fireflies wandering in the dark.

Jiang Shi Yue braced both hands on the marble windowsill and, as usual, spoke with a cheerful smile. “I saved your life, so just pretend you didn’t see me, okay?”

With that, she pushed off without hesitation and jumped up.

Fu Qing Han took a few steps forward without thinking. His brow furrowed, his face dark as water. “Who are you, exactly?”

Jiang Shi Yue was never the type to do good deeds and leave no name behind. She answered crisply, “Jiang Shi Yue from Central City Superpower Academy. If you want to repay me, you’d better bring a banner. My mentor loves that the most.” She said it with a serious air.

If it had been one minute earlier, Fu Qing Han might still have thought this girl was crazy and not right in the head, but now…

Fu Qing Han leaned forward slightly. One side of him was lit by the dim yellow light, while the other was hidden in the shadows of the night, making his expression even harder to read.

At that moment, Jiang Shi Yue’s figure fluttered down without hesitation, like a butterfly.

Fu Qing Han’s breath caught. His calm face finally changed. In a few quick strides, he reached the window and looked down, stunned.

Jiang Shi Yue had not fallen. She stood on the tree trunk, and in that brief glance, the girl’s sly smile flashed and vanished. Then she hugged the trunk and slid down, and with a few quick movements, she disappeared into the dark shadows of the garden trees.
