Chapter 26
Chapter 26: South City Villa (4)
But seeing Jiang Shi Yue’s face full of sincerity that didn’t seem fake at all, it felt like they were just overthinking it.
“Okay!”
When Jiang Shi Yue saw everyone nod, she went straight to the room on her right. It used to be a bathroom. It looked even dirtier and messier than the living room, and the porcelain-white bathtub was already covered in cracks.
Because there was no ventilation, the bathroom air smelled thick and stale, with a stench close to rot.
The mirror above the sink was completely shattered. Broken mirror pieces were all over the floor, and even in the sink. They were scattered everywhere.
Jiang Shi Yue casually picked up a shard of mirror, but the instant her fingers touched it, her body suddenly went stiff.
Jiang Shi Yue’s pupils shrank at once.
Almost by reflex, she clenched the shard tightly.
Because at that moment, she clearly felt a faint layer of mental power attached to the mirror. Even if it was barely visible, it truly existed.
Chen Ze’s mood was all over the place. After all, it was his first time playing a ghost, and he was even playing a female ghost. He let Han Xi Ping put a wig cap on him, then slapped powder onto his face like it was free.
“Enough. That’s about right,” Chen Ze said, unhappy.
“Be satisfied. I risked my life stealing my mom’s powder,” Han Xi Ping said. Only when he was basically finished did he stop what he was doing. He stared at Chen Ze. This kid already had soft, delicate features. Once he put on that messy long black wig, he really did look a bit feminine.
He couldn’t help giving a thumbs-up and praised him. “You really look like a female ghost.”
[I’m like your mom.]
But he was a coward. He didn’t dare say it.
Chen Ze didn’t know why, but ever since they went up to the second floor, that strange chill inside him had grown even stronger. To steady his nerves, he deliberately roughened his voice and asked Han Xi Ping, “Xi Ping, when are we going down? Are they ready?” But as soon as he finished speaking, a notification sound rang out from their group chat.
Han Xi Ping was quick and tapped into it first. When he saw the message in the chat, he instantly got happy, even a little gloating. “Nice. They really left Sister Shi Yue alone. Let’s hurry down.”
Chen Ze nodded eagerly, stood up at once, and ran downstairs with Han Xi Ping.
But he suddenly felt like Han Xi Ping tugged at his wig. Even though it was a wig, it still felt like it was being pulled, and if he kept pulling, wouldn’t it fall off?
Chen Ze pushed the strand of hair out of his eyes and glared at Han Xi Ping, annoyed. “What are you trying to do?”
Han Xi Ping was confused and had no idea what he was freaking out about, but he was focused on carrying out the plan, so he didn’t want to argue with Chen Ze. He just said impatiently, “What else? Hurry up and get downstairs.”
…
Jiang Zi Chen and the others waited downstairs for Han Xi Ping and Chen Ze. When they came down, Jiang Zi Chen almost jumped. This kid’s getup really was pretty scary.
Liu Zi Yan lowered his voice. “She’s in the bathroom right now. You hide in the kitchen. When she comes out, you jump out from the kitchen.”
Chen Ze understood and darted into the kitchen.
The rest of them quietly turned off their flashlights too and hid together in a corner.
The air was extremely quiet, and all they could hear was the thump-thump-thump of their hearts in their chests. They didn’t even dare breathe, covering their noses and mouths as they secretly peeked forward…
