Chapter 17
Chapter 17: She lifted a rock and smashed her own foot
Jiang Shi Yue quickly snapped a few photos. Then she tossed her phone to Jiang Mei Ling and said with a smile, “Film a hero-saves-the-damsel video for me. I’m going to rescue Zhao Lan Lan now.”
Jiang Mei Ling’s hands shook so hard they could barely hold the phone. The camera wobbled wildly, and tears kept flooding her eyes, making it almost impossible to see what was happening.
This wasn’t Jiang Shi Yue. This was a devil.
But the situation forced her hand. In the end, she obediently did what Jiang Shi Yue told her to do.
Jiang Shi Yue looked at the video on the phone with satisfaction, then smiled at Zhao Lan Lan. “Even though you tried to hurt me, I still saved you without holding a grudge. So your whole family needs to come thank me. Don’t forget to write a thank-you letter too.”
“Dream on! I’ll never let you go!” Zhao Lan Lan howled in despair. “Jiang Shi Yue, you won’t die well!”
Jiang Shi Yue turned the phone in her hand and smiled sweetly at Zhao Lan Lan. “You don’t like the first choice? Then there are other choices. The second choice is that I call the police and expose all the evidence online. You’ll be disgraced. The third is that I send those photos to your parents, your relatives and friends, and your school. Oh right – when you get married someday, I can send them to your husband too. How about receiving them on your wedding day?”
As she spoke, she turned to Jiang Mei Ling. “Sister Mei Ling, so asking you for a thank-you letter isn’t too much, right?”
Jiang Mei Ling’s lips parted slightly. She stared at Jiang Shi Yue with fear and disbelief.
Her mind was a mess.
She had heard every word clearly, but it still felt like she understood nothing at all.
Jiang Shi Yue lifted a hand and gently patted her cheek, her voice tender. “Sister Mei Ling, did you hear what I said?”
That voice was so gentle, but Jiang Mei Ling felt like something had grabbed her heart. Even her breathing wouldn’t go smoothly.
For the first time, she understood what fear was in front of Jiang Shi Yue.
Deep fear.
Shaking, as if she’d used up every last bit of strength, Jiang Mei Ling finally forced out a few words, “N-no… not too much…”
Jiang Shi Yue nodded in satisfaction, then switched to a look of endless regret. “Actually, I even wanted to arrange a TV interview. Something like, ‘Concerned Citizen Miss Jiang Acted Bravely.’ But I thought about it – you’re a girl, you must care about your reputation, and you wouldn’t want me to make a big deal out of it, so…” She sighed. “What a pity. What a shame to waste this opportunity.” In the end, she pressed her lips together, looking deeply moved. “I’m really considerate, aren’t I, Sister Mei Ling?”
She looked at Jiang Mei Ling again.
Jiang Mei Ling’s body jerked. Stiff and struggling, she forced out a single word with extreme difficulty, “Y-yes…”
Jiang Shi Yue smiled at her with satisfaction. Then she casually pushed the door with one hand. She didn’t seem to use any strength at all, like she was brushing a feather, yet the door that had been locked was pushed open with ease.
There was a sharp creak – the sound of the lock snapping.
It was unusually crisp.
The door swung open, and at once it started making creak-creak noises.
Jiang Shi Yue turned her head to the four men and said with a smile, “As for you, I also have two choices.”
As she spoke, she mischievously held up two fingers and wiggled them a little. “First, you turn yourselves in. Second, I call the police.”
Scar-Faced Man: “What’s the difference between those two options?”
He glanced at the stunned Zhao Lan Lan, his voice nearly breaking into a sob. “Eldest Miss, you can’t burn the bridge after crossing it!”
