Chapter 1: Appearing Out of Nowhere

The temperature was a bit low, and you could faintly see tiny frost patterns forming on the clear crystal window.

But the hotel room itself was kept at just the right temperature.

Fu Qing Han sat lazily to one side with his eyes half-closed, his fingers pressed together. His hands were pale, long, and clean-boned, with sharp knuckles. Hands like that were probably only raised by someone born into the very height of human wealth.

But the master of those hands did not speak. He seemed to be waiting for something with interest, yet his gaze was even colder than the chill outside.

He was waiting for the girl on the bed to wake up.

She looked about twenty. Her skin was a little pale, her face small, and her lashes trembled slightly. Even asleep, she looked delicate and pretty.

But she did not sleep peacefully. Her brows were faintly furrowed, as if she was struggling and sinking in a nightmare domain.

Fu Qing Han watched her calmly. As if she felt the pressure of his gaze, her brows knitted even tighter in her sleep.

A beauty throwing herself into his arms usually meant something obvious.

But Fu Qing Han did not think this was a gift someone had sent him. Only a few trusted aides in the family knew about this trip to C City, and if anyone dared to act on their own like this, that person probably would not see tomorrow’s sun.

Most importantly, the hotel surveillance his subordinate pulled up showed that during the hour he was gone, no one had passed by his room.

So this girl seemed to have appeared in his room out of thin air.

His lips curled faintly, and he quietly looked forward to how things would develop.

Jiang Shi Yue felt as if her body was falling, falling into an endless abyss. Her heartbeat had slowed – thump, thump, thump – yet it stayed painfully clear.

Like a fish washed onto shore, her throat seemed to burn. The suffocating feeling grew sharper, and she could not help breathing greedily, even though the air felt thin.

But it was not enough, not nearly enough.

She suddenly opened her eyes and gulped for breath. Because she had just woken up, her eyelids were swollen and sore, and her vision was a little blurry.

The room was luxurious, lit in dim yellow light. The crystal chandelier above her seemed to sway slightly.

Everything here told her this was an unfamiliar room.

No, wait!

She should have been at Central City Superpower Academy, doing her daily five-sense sealing training so she could strengthen her mental power.

So why had she appeared here for no reason? Had she accidentally awakened a space-transfer superpower?

Before she could think it through, a calm voice suddenly sounded beside her ear. It was a nice voice, cold and distant, sounding lazy and careless, as if nothing could interest him. “Do you want some water?”

Hearing a stranger’s voice in a strange room felt unsettling.

Jiang Shi Yue frowned without thinking, and her gaze almost instinctively shifted over.

It was a very good-looking man.

She blanked out for a moment. Even after gene micro-adjustment technology appeared, it was still rare to see a man this stunning.

His brows were long, his features clean and refined, and under the light, his handsome profile looked half-restrained. His eyes were like glass, rippling with a cold, snowy gleam.

But Jiang Shi Yue’s frown deepened. She could not feel any mental power from him at all.

That was impossible!
