Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Reverse Replenishment
Half a day later, Jiang Li Sheng had used over eight hundred bottles of Spirit-Replenishing Pills and fully repaired Wei Qing Lan’s spiritual mansion.
The instant the last wound closed, she started to withdraw—
And then a vast surge of spiritual power rolled up from within Wei Qing Lan’s spiritual mansion and seized her whole.
Jiang Li Sheng jolted, eyes flying open as she looked at him.
Wei Qing Lan’s eyes remained closed. His lips parted, voice cold and steady. “Don’t move.”
She didn’t dare move. The moment his spiritual mansion stabilized, the pressure of his spiritual power crashed down like a mountain tipping into the sea. If he told her not to move, she truly couldn’t.
A heartbeat later, she felt the enormous power gripping her split along her meridians, drawing out a single thread—so fine it was almost nothing. Like a clear spring trickling through stone, it probed and explored, then slipped into her own spiritual mansion.
Jiang Li Sheng’s whole body went rigid. She tried to raise a defense, to kick it out—
But he was too strong. Her mind felt pinned in place, as if her control had been stolen. All she could do was remain motionless and watch that thin stream slide into the spiritual mansion she’d left open through their connection.
Her spiritual mansion was darkness—flat, dead, empty.
Then his spiritual power entered, and it was like a streak of snow-bright starlight pouring into a black sky. Cool, clean, luminous. It circled once… and instead of withdrawing, it broke apart into points of light and sank into a low reservoir inside her spiritual mansion, where her own thin spiritual power lay.
It didn’t clash.
It didn’t get rejected the way Ying Zong Yu’s spiritual power had.
It merged.
Jiang Li Sheng stared at Wei Qing Lan, shock widening her eyes.
What was he doing?
Giving her spiritual power?
Wei Qing Lan still didn’t open his eyes. After one successful test, he stopped probing altogether. He poured spiritual power into her spiritual mansion in a single ruthless sweep, crushed it into light, scattered it, and let it merge.
In moments, her low reservoir filled.
He still wasn’t satisfied. He began pushing further—trying to expand her spiritual mansion itself.
“No!” Jiang Li Sheng forced the word out, voice strained.
“Qing Lan—what are you doing?” Ying Zong Yu snapped, alarm rising. He didn’t know the details, but Jiang Li Sheng’s terror was obvious. She trembled violently, and the pressure pouring from Wei Qing Lan blanketed her like a storm.
“Senior Brother Wei…” Si Shao couldn’t withstand it. His face drained white as he staggered back.
Wei Qing Lan ignored them both. His spiritual power surged through Jiang Li Sheng’s spiritual mansion, leaving her no room to resist. Worse—his method was working. Under the force of his overwhelming spiritual power, her reservoir rippled and expanded, widening by a full ring.
Jiang Li Sheng went cold with fury. She finally understood.
This man was replenishing her—filling her empty spiritual mansion with his own power.
And he wasn’t stopping there. He was trying to widen it for her.
For years, her master had tried every method and failed.
Wei Qing Lan did it in moments.
But she didn’t want it.
She didn’t even know why her spiritual power could merge with his. Maybe because she had repaired his spiritual mansion and their powers were still linked.
Whatever the reason, she refused to accept his reverse replenishment.
She had repaid the debt. If he did nothing, they would be even.
So what was he doing?
Seeing no sign of him stopping, she fought back. Anger sharpened her will into something desperate. She ground her teeth through searing pain, forced her mind to churn, and stirred her own spiritual mansion violently—wrenching at control, trying to tear herself free under his pressure.
She resisted so hard her face went paper-white.
Wei Qing Lan finally stopped. He withdrew his spiritual power, severing the connection.
The moment she regained herself, Jiang Li Sheng glared at him, eyes blazing. “What are you doing? I said I don’t want it.”
Her face flushed with rage. Between the emotional shock and standing for so long, her legs gave out. She pitched forward.
Wei Qing Lan stepped in and caught her.
Jiang Li Sheng shoved him away, breathing hard. Her eyes reddened as she stared at him for a long moment—then she turned and stormed out.
Si Shao stood frozen.
Across all of Kun Lun Sect—even counting the Sect Master—no one dared explode at Junior Brother Wei like that.
Ying Zong Yu’s gaze followed Jiang Li Sheng. He understood Wei Qing Lan’s temperament too well. After suffering such a grievous injury and having it repaired by someone else’s effort, Wei Qing Lan was never going to sit still and do nothing in return—especially if he truly owed her something.
Reverse replenishment wasn’t strange.
What was strange was that it worked.
Wei Qing Lan’s spiritual power could merge with Jiang Li Sheng’s. Her spiritual mansion didn’t reject it at all.
And Jiang Li Sheng’s reaction shocked him too—she resisted so fiercely she didn’t care if she hurt herself, forcibly cutting off Wei Qing Lan’s infusion, then unleashing that kind of fury right to his face.
For a time, the Medical Hall was silent.
Wei Qing Lan remained where he was, expression light and unreadable—no remorse, no anger, nothing that gave away his thoughts.
Ying Zong Yu coughed once, breaking the hush. “That little girl has quite a temper.”
Si Shao drew a careful breath. “Master… Junior Brother Wei… Junior Sister Jiang is angry and left. Should someone follow her and make sure she’s all right?”
“You go,” Ying Zong Yu said, waving him off. “And take the remaining Spirit-Replenishing Pills to her. Tell her they’re all hers.”
Si Shao glanced at Wei Qing Lan. Seeing he didn’t speak, Si Shao nodded, grabbed the remaining pills, and hurried out.
Ying Zong Yu raised his hand and set up a barrier, then looked directly at Wei Qing Lan. “Whether it’s the life-saving debt you owe her, or the box of jia fruit you gave her from Bu Zhou Mountain, it’s already enough to repay what she did for you. Anything beyond that—you don’t need to do.”
Wei Qing Lan gave no clear response.
Ying Zong Yu didn’t soften his tone. “You’ve never liked anyone getting close enough to touch you since you were a child. But you don’t mind touching Jiang Li Sheng. You’ve steadied her more than once. Don’t tell me you’ve developed feelings for her.”
Wei Qing Lan lifted his eyelids and met his gaze, cool and clear. “What does Martial Uncle Ying want to say? Besides Master, you touch me often too.”
Ying Zong Yu clicked his tongue. “I mean women.”
He held Wei Qing Lan’s eyes, blunt as a blade. “I’m not the Sect Master. I can’t control you. The Sect Master is in seclusion, and I don’t intend to lecture you. But today, Jiang Li Sheng wasn’t wrong. She knows herself. She doesn’t want to accept your reverse replenishment or get entangled with you. That’s better for her—and better for you. Don’t be foolish.”
He dropped the barrier with a wave and shooed him off. “All right. Go. Your injury exhausted me for days. I haven’t slept properly once. Now that you’re healed, I’m finally going to get a real night’s sleep.”
