Chapter 12
Chapter 12: Childbearing Gift Pack
Su Yan shifted into Little White and raced back toward the tribe.
When she arrived, her paws slowed.
The place was empty.
Burrow entrances yawned like open mouths with nothing inside. Scattered debris lay where lives had been—broken baskets, trampled grass, the faint ghost of smoke that had long since thinned into nothing.
Mouse gone. Homes hollow.
Su Yan swallowed the tightness in her chest and ran to Mi Lu Te’s place. She slipped into her own cave room and dug out a set of clothes, pressing the fabric between her fingers like she needed proof of something solid.
Ever since she’d come to beast world, being half-naked had started to feel normal in the worst way. She couldn’t stop thinking—if she had clothes that could shift with her body, she wouldn’t be scrambling like this every time.
The System prompted: [Recommendation: host can try the glazed azure-feather robe in the shop.]
Su Yan opened the System Shop and immediately saw it.
The robe was breathtaking—turquoise and silver, feathered like it had been woven out of sky, jewelry glinting at the seams, gold ribbons trailing like sunlight caught in motion. The embroidery looked almost alive, elegant and mysterious.
For one heartbeat, Su Yan could picture it: herself stepping onto the beast world continent in that robe, every male turning, every gaze caught like it had a hook in it.
Then she saw the price.
300 points.
She shut the shop so fast it felt like slamming a door on temptation.
No. She couldn’t afford it.
She lay back on the stone bed, the chill of it seeping through her, and let out a long breath. “This is basically telling me to hurry up and get pregnant again.”
She rubbed her belly.
Flat again. As if nothing had happened.
If only she could’ve seen that child once.
The Childbearing System really did only care about the birth.
Then she remembered—besides points, there was the big gift pack.
She opened it.
[Congratulations, host. You have obtained green grade talent: fire-element profundity, along with a cultivation manual.]
[Congratulations, host. You have received: one high-waisted cotton pregnant woman skirt, one frying pan, thirty jin of refined salt, ten packs of toilet paper, ten cans of formula, two sets of baby bottles, and two baby carriers.]
Su Yan stared, lips parting in disbelief. “This really is a childbearing gift pack.”
Everything was child-related.
And none of it appeared in the System Shop. The shop had pills, weapons, cultivation arts, luxury items—nothing as practical and mundane as salt or formula.
[Most beautiful System young lady,] Su Yan coaxed, [do I get a gift pack like this every time I give birth?]
The System answered: [The higher the child’s talent, the richer the pack.]
[Then can you at least tell me where to find high-talent males?] Su Yan pressed. [Just point me in a direction.]
[Sorry. host must find that yourself.]
Su Yan clicked her tongue. [Fine. Exchange for one grain-avoiding pill.]
[grain-avoiding pill exchanged. Take only when not pregnant. After pregnancy it will lose effect. host is advised to eat nutritious foods.]
[Okay, wait.] Her eyes caught another item. [What’s golden marrow pill? It doesn’t even cost points.]
[Effect: randomly increases fetal talent. Limit: one pill per pregnancy. Additional pills are ineffective. Restricted: host only.]
Before she could ask more, a faint rustling came from outside—soft, cautious, sniffing.
Su Yan turned.
A gray-blue mouse the size of an adult dog poked his head into the cave, nose working, ears twitching as he searched the air for familiar scent.
Su Yan’s mouth curved. “Little Luo. Over here.”
Little Luo froze, then blurted, “Wait!” and vanished back into his burrow.
A moment later he returned wearing beast-hide clothes, looking hurried but relieved.
“I told Dad you were still hiding here,” he said, almost laughing. “He said that was impossible.”
“We’re from the mouse clan,” Su Yan replied. “Digging a hole to hide is nothing. Where is everyone now?”
“A rabbit beastman tribe, two days from here.” Little Luo’s gaze flicked toward the cave entrance. “devil beasts still show up around here. We should leave fast.”
“Okay.”
They shifted into mouse form again.
Su Yan packed her clothes into a leather bag along with the most valuable items she could carry. It became a big bundle, awkward on a small back.
Little Luo slung it on, then, without ceremony, dropped Su Yan onto the top of it. She was only palm-sized like this.
And then he ran—straight toward the rabbit beastman tribe.
