Chapter 120
Chapter 120: Wang Jie and Kui Zhan
Outer Court disciples fell one after another, and the air reeked of blood. Elder Zhong of Bing Qiao Star had already gone to the Star-Cloud Battlefield, and now the strongest person left in the Outer Court was Wu Mian.
Wu Mian faced two Full-Star Realm cultivators from Luo Kingdom.
They flanked him from left and right and surged forward with vicious grins.
Not far away, Elder Chu gripped his broken sword and used Intercepting Sword Art to block attack after attack from Luo Kingdom—only for a familiar fellow disciple to drive a blade through his heart from behind.
Elder Chu turned, eyes wide, unable to accept it.
The young man’s gaze was feral. “I’m not going to rot in the Outer Court forever. They promised that if I betrayed the sect, I’d be treated the same as a starforce cultivator.”
His voice roughened. “Elder Chu, I tried to recruit you. You refused.”
Elder Chu’s eyes were complicated—helpless and unwilling, but without hatred, and without regret.
“If you want to leave, then choose your road and walk it yourself,” he said hoarsely. “I don’t blame you.”
The young man’s eyes reddened. He drew his sword and watched Elder Chu slump to the ground.
“I’m sorry.”
Then he turned and charged at another fellow disciple.
Before long, Wu Mian died in battle.
Outer Sect and Inner Sect alike kept losing people, and the once-bustling inner-outer bazaar was soaked in the stench of blood.
Every merchant who didn’t belong to Frostflower Sect slammed their doors shut and didn’t dare show their faces.
Jin Chu’s hair was matted with blood as she cut down Luo Kingdom fighters one after another, but soon she was swallowed by the crush of fleeing disciples and advancing troops.
At Little Sword Mountain, Li Mo’s right arm had been shattered. He gripped his sword in his left hand and held the peak’s entrance, his junior sister’s body at his feet.
He didn’t even have time to carry her away. He glared down the mountain. “Traitors—none of you will come to a good end!”
A chain dropped from the sky, hooked around his neck, and yanked him into the air. His body slammed down. His skull shattered on impact.
Xia Mu stood alone on the summit of Little Sword Mountain, sword raised toward the starry sky.
His opponent was Xia Bei Yi.
Xia Bei Yi had surrendered. He had betrayed Frostflower Sect—and now he pointed his blade at his own people.
“Junior Brother Mu, why be so stubborn?” Xia Bei Yi called. “Wouldn’t it be better to join Xuan Gate? It’s the strongest sect in the First Star Chain of Third Nebula—and one day, it’ll rule the entire nebula.”
Xia Mu sneered. “My sword doesn’t stand with the vile.”
Killing intent boiled in Xia Bei Yi’s eyes. “Then die.”
At Mist Peak, Mu Ran fled in blind panic, flinging out formation scroll after formation scroll. “Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me! I was just passing by!”
Master Luan stared out into the distance.
Even the mountain peaks had been dyed crimson.
He swallowed hard and turned to Elder Yan. “Old Yan… can you save Master Wang? I swear I won’t go anywhere.”
Elder Yan lifted his gaze, expression cold. “It was Master Wang who sent the message and forced our plan forward. If we don’t kill him, my anger won’t be satisfied.”
His voice sharpened. “Even if I wanted to spare him, Han Domain Lord and Master Xu wouldn’t agree.”
Master Luan’s eyes went heavy.
Then a thunderous voice rolled across Frostflower Domain and poured into everyone’s ears.
“Frostflower Sect disciples, listen. This old woman is Xing Xue, the sect’s Supreme Elder.”
Countless disciples looked up—despairing, yet starving for hope as they stared into the starry sky.
“This battle is a calamity for Frostflower Sect. All disciples must flee. Don’t stay behind and die for nothing.”
“If you can rebuild the sect in the future, then return.”
“Remember—leave at once.”
“Leave at once.”
The voice echoed through Frostflower Domain, drilling into the ears of countless disciples.
Countless people wept. The sect had fallen.
The traitors, on the other hand, were ecstatic.
Xing Xue spoke from helplessness. If she didn’t, the disciples would stay and fight to the death—until the last of them was ground into the dirt.
She wanted more to escape. She wanted living embers. One day, they could take revenge—instead of dying for nothing.
Kuang Xiao threw his head back and laughed. “Wen Guan, your Frostflower Sect is finished!”
Wen Guan closed his eyes. “Right and wrong. Victory and defeat.” His voice was calm, almost distant. “In the end, it all turns to emptiness. The sect was built. It existed. And one day, it will appear again.”
“Dream on.”
Elsewhere, Xing Xue stood in the starry sky.
Jin Nuo faced her. Behind him, Jiang Yun Ji hovered, encased in a puppet.
Xing Xue’s voice was bitter. “I didn’t expect you’d already uncovered my origins.”
Jin Nuo sighed, admiration plain on his face. “The Ding Chen Zhi family truly lives up to its name. But Frostflower Sect will be wiped out in this campaign. You prepared for so long to launch a war of extermination against the Mad Clan—and we’ll prepare even longer for the war to exterminate Frostflower Sect.”
He tilted his head. “Senior, join Xuan Gate. I guarantee you a supreme position.”
Xing Xue let out a soft, weary breath. “What use does an old bag of bones have for status?”
Her eyes dimmed. “I only want to save more children, so they don’t die at the hands of beasts.”
Not long after, far away, Wang Jie glanced back.
Why did it feel like the sounds of battle were getting closer and closer?
His heart hammered.
He looked ahead. Almost there. He was close to the Silver Radiance Empire.
Half a day later, the silhouette of a Luo Gu appeared again.
Wang Jie’s heart sank. Again.
How many Luo Gu were there?
Just like before, he flattened himself and held his breath, not daring to move as the seconds crawled by.
This time, he slipped through safely as well.
After a few hours of rest, he ran into another Luo Gu.
There were too many.
Each wave held over a thousand ships. The Luo Kingdom troops they carried had to be tens of millions by now. It really was a factory for soldiers—if they could send out this many, then Luo Kingdom had even more cultivators back home.
Over several days, Wang Jie ran into five waves of Luo Gu. Somehow, he survived every one of them without disaster.
Strangely, none of those Luo Gu ever checked on one another.
“Whoever’s inside, come out and answer.”
The voice rang through the Luo Gu.
Wang Jie lay pinned to the floor, his stomach dropping. This was bad.
It was the sixth wave he’d encountered, and he hadn’t expected anything like this.
He didn’t move. The Luo Gu kept flying onward.
“As a subordinate of the Kui family, you dare not answer?” the voice demanded. “Young Lord Kui Zhan is here. Answer at once.”
Wang Jie clenched his teeth and stayed still. The Luo Gu drifted farther away.
The voice stopped.
Wang Jie dared to glance back—and his pupils shrank.
Two figures stood in the starry sky behind him, one above and one below. Both were from Luo Kingdom, watching him with amused interest.
Wang Jie’s heart slammed against his ribs. One of them was at the Roaming-Star Realm. The other wasn’t—because he was being hauled along by the Roaming-Star Realm cultivator.
He stood on the other man’s shoulder as if it were his rightful perch.
No matter how fast a Luo Gu was, it couldn’t outrun a Roaming-Star Realm expert.
The Roaming-Star Realm Luo Kingdom cultivator came straight for Wang Jie, caught up in moments, and stepped onto the Luo Gu with one foot.
“A human?” he said, sounding almost entertained. “You actually used our Luo Gu to escape. Clever.”
He lowered his head. “Young Lord, should I kill him?”
The man on his shoulder leaned forward. “Hey, human. Where’d you run here from?”
Wang Jie stared at him. “You’re Kui Zhan, right?”
Kui Zhan laughed. “That’s right. Mm. I hear fear in your voice, but not terror.” His eyes gleamed. “Human, do you think you won’t die?”
Wang Jie exhaled. “I barely made it here after brushing death again and again. I didn’t think you’d still find me. If I’d known, I would’ve hidden on some random planet.”
“It’s useless,” Kui Zhan said lightly. “Within a certain range, we can locate every Luo Gu. Right now, all Luo Gu are gathering toward Frostflower Domain. If you stopped on some planet, it would be obvious you didn’t belong. You’d be found even faster.”
Wang Jie nodded once. “So that’s how it is.”
Kui Zhan studied him with curiosity. “Answer me, human. Where did you escape from?”
Wang Jie met his gaze. “Deepweight Star.”
Kui Zhan’s expression flickered. “Deepweight Star in Frostflower Domain?”
“Impossible,” the Roaming-Star Realm cultivator snapped, eyes narrowing. “The Mad Clan old ancestor is hidden on Deepweight Star, along with Puppeteer and a huge number of our Luo Kingdom kin. You escaped from there?”
He sneered. “Absolutely impossible.”
Wang Jie had no intention of hiding the truth anymore. Either way, he was dead. “What’s impossible about it? You Luo Kingdom people have no brains. A Roaming-Star Realm expert watched me for tens of days and still couldn’t find me.”
His voice turned sharp. “I counter-killed a few Full-Star Realm cultivators, broke through the blockade, and sent the news back to my sect.”
Kui Zhan arched a brow. “You’re the one who sent the message back to Frostflower Sect?”
Wang Jie shrugged. “Easy.”
Killing intent flashed in the Roaming-Star Realm cultivator’s eyes.
Kui Zhan, meanwhile, only looked more interested. “What realm are you?”
“Ten Seals.”
“Ten Seals?” Kui Zhan blurted, genuinely startled.
Below him, the Roaming-Star Realm cultivator’s voice rose. “Young Lord, kill him. There’s something wrong with this human.”
Kui Zhan’s eyes stayed fixed on Wang Jie. “Take us to the nearest planet. I want to see whether he’s telling the truth.”
“Young Lord—”
“Now.”
“Yes.”
The Roaming-Star Realm cultivator raised a hand and pointed. “Land on that planet.”
Wang Jie guided the Luo Gu down.
Against a Roaming-Star Realm expert, resistance wasn’t even a thought.
Kui Zhan clearly wanted to test him. Wang Jie glanced toward the Silver Radiance Empire, expression complicated.
Soon, the Luo Gu landed.
It was a dark red planet. From sky to ground, the world was crimson—poison thick enough to taste.
Kui Zhan dropped to the ground and looked at Wang Jie. “Human, I hope you’re really as impressive as you claim. Then I can give you a chance to live, and take you to the Sixth Star Chain as my human slave.”
Wang Jie swallowed a breath-holding pill. This planet wasn’t fit for living.
As for Kui Zhan’s promises, he didn’t care.
He let out a short, mocking breath. “So you’re telling me to hold back? Otherwise, if I kill you, I won’t live either.”
Kui Zhan laughed loudly. “A Full-Star Realm cultivator being told to hold back by a Ten Seals human? Fine. Hold back all you want—just don’t die.”
He drew a battle saber nearly three meters long and sprang forward, cleaving down.
Wang Jie was still standing on the Luo Gu. Facing Kui Zhan’s One Blade, he drew his sword and knocked it aside.
Clang!
The shockwave rolled outward. The Luo Gu cracked, and the ground sank a full layer.
Wang Jie’s eyes sharpened. What terrifying strength.
Kui Zhan was at the Full-Star Realm like Kui Yan, but the difference was night and day. This was a true powerhouse—not the cannon fodder Luo Kingdom sent out to die.
Kui Zhan’s surprise mirrored his. Wang Jie hadn’t lied. No ordinary Ten Seals cultivator could block that strike.
Kui Zhan laughed again, twisting his blade into a sideways sweep.
Wang Jie stepped with Jia Eight Steps and appeared behind him—sword raised.
Rainbow-Drinking Sword Form.
Strike after strike rained down, but Kui Zhan blocked them all. His saber was huge and wide, not unlike the Jia Yi Divine Sword, shielding him completely.
Wang Jie kicked the edge of the blade. The burst of force sent Kui Zhan flying.
In the distance, the Roaming-Star Realm Luo Kingdom cultivator’s killing intent deepened.
Wang Jie hadn’t lied. He really might be able to kill a Full-Star Realm cultivator. A human like this deserved to die even more.
Kui Zhan flipped in midair, landed, and slashed straight down.
A terrifying saber aura carved along the ground, splitting heaven and earth. Wang Jie twisted aside—only to find the aura thick and sticky. It didn’t just cut through space; it swallowed everything in its path.
Wang Jie stared hard at the saber aura as he retreated step by step. Then he raised his sword and thrust.
The thrust tore through the aura and shot straight at Kui Zhan.
Kui Zhan’s eyes widened. It pierced his saber aura—how did he even see it?
He lifted his saber again and slashed.
