Chapter 096
Chapter 96: Blood for Blood
“Be careful,” Feng Yu exclaimed, her eyes widening as she saw the creature strike with its other hand.
Wang Jie withdrew his gaze and kicked out with force.
The kick landed squarely on the creature’s abdomen, sending it flying through walls, crashing through several before breaking the city wall and falling outside the base.
Around them, all the Gong Nation creatures surged forward.
“Save them,” Wang Jie said in a low voice. He spoke as he swiftly retrieved his sword from his storage ring. His figure followed the blade as he moved with the armor eight steps. The earth trembled, leaving only a fleeting illusion behind. Raising his sword, he swung.
Each strike brought death to one or more creatures, decapitating them in an instant.
There were seventeen Gong Nation people left inside the base.
Wang Jie had drawn his sword eight times, and with each stroke, they were killed. The entire process took no more than three seconds.
Outside the base, the Gong Nation star-breaking realm creature still hadn’t recovered, clutching its abdomen and vomiting. The force of that kick had nearly killed it.
It glared at the base, shocked. How could a mere ten-imprint human possess such power?
Wang Jie flicked his sword, the blood splattering across the ground in a diagonal line. He turned his gaze toward Hong Jian, who still lay on the ground, his face swollen to the point where his skull seemed about to crack. “Don’t worry,” Wang Jie said, before bending his legs and leaping toward the bone boat.
Outside the base, the Gong Nation star-breaking realm creature let out a low growl and leaped toward Wang Jie.
In midair, Wang Jie casually swung his sword. The force of the sword qi slammed into the creature. The Gong Nation creature believed it could withstand it, but the power within the sword qi forced it down to the ground. Meanwhile, Wang Jie had already landed on the bone boat, ready to continue the slaughter.
With each swing of his sword, he cut down the creatures. The strongest among the Gong Nation was the star-breaking realm creature; the others were all beneath Ten Seals. But their numbers were overwhelming.
The bone boat was large enough to hold around three hundred humans, but there were over a thousand Gong Nation creatures crammed inside. These creatures didn’t care for their surroundings; some even curled up in corners. This was a civilization that willingly marched toward its own death.
Blood dripped from the bone boat, falling through the gaps in the ship and scattering into the air, forming a blood rain.
Hong Jian was being treated, and the others had no need for help—those who were dead were already beyond saving.
The million-strong population inside the base watched in silence, gazing up at the blood rain falling from the sky.
The Gong Nation star-breaking realm creature charged toward the bone boat, its rage bordering on madness. It was a star-breaking realm creature, yet it had been knocked back twice by a mere ten-imprint human. To return this news to its people would be a disgrace, one that would stain its name forever. It must consume that human.
It smashed through the bottom of the bone boat and rushed in.
Wang Jie stood amidst the blood. When the Gong Nation creature charged at him, he stepped forward with armor eight steps, appearing right before it. The creature roared, swiping its hand. Wang Jie responded in kind, but his slap was faster.
Slap!
The strike hit the Gong Nation creature’s face with a resounding crack, dazing it. Its body crashed against the side of the bone boat, smashing through it. Half of its body protruded out, visible to countless onlookers.
Wang Jie raised his sword and brought it down. There was no sword qi, no sharp edge—only raw power flowing down the blade, crushing the Gong Nation creature through the bone boat, sending it crashing into the earth below, creating a deep crater.
The bone boat rocked violently, breaking apart. Wang Jie stood atop it, and as the ship plummeted toward the ground, he stepped aside just in time.
Boom!
A massive explosion rang out, and the shockwave spread across the area, igniting the surroundings.
In the sunlight, amidst the flames, Wang Jie walked slowly to the edge of the deep pit and looked down at the Gong Nation creature lying at the bottom.
This creature’s combat strength was only 11,000. It had only recently entered the star-breaking realm, and compared to him, it was far inferior.
The creature’s face was shattered, its breath faint. There was no fear in its eyes, only unwillingness. A mere ten-imprint human had defeated it—how could this be?
Wang Jie stepped into the pit, grabbed the creature, and hurled it toward the base.
The Gong Nation creature crashed into the ground, landing in the middle of the many it had killed.
Feng Yu and the others stood stunned, watching in disbelief.
The creatures that had been so terrifying to them, the ones they could not even escape from, were easily dispatched by Wang Jie.
The bone boat that had fallen, the headless bodies—it all clearly demonstrated how much stronger Wang Jie was now compared to when he had first left Blue Star.
Had Wang Jie’s power been at its current level when he left Blue Star, a battle would have ensued with these creatures. But now, it was effortless.
Wang Jie stood atop the city wall. “These creatures are from the Gong Nation of the Third Nebula’s Sixth Star Chain. Now you can pay your blood debt with blood.”
Around him, the cultivators with fiery eyes rushed to attack the creature, ultimately killing it.
Wang Jie’s expression grew complicated. If it weren’t for his swift action, if he had delayed even a little longer, the people of Blue Star would have perished.
These creatures didn’t even wish to communicate—they were nothing but killers.
Such brutality.
High above, a spaceship descended. It wasn’t a fiery meteor, but a slow descent.
Everyone looked up, anxiety written on their faces.
Wang Jie understood the anxiety of the people of Blue Star. Two years ago, the trials had seen meteors crashing down, bringing immense death. This time, the Gong Nation’s appearance only heightened the cruelty of the universe. They felt no sense of safety.
“Don’t worry, you’re safe for now. The Silver Radiance Empire will protect you.”
Feng Yu had heard the name of the Silver Radiance Empire for the second time. She was eager to ask more about it.
Later, at Golden Hill Base, Wang Jie stood by the window, watching the night sky. The room was quiet.
Lian Qin, Tang Jie, Qing Sheng, and the others had all arrived.
Old Five and the others were still on their way.
They silently looked at Hong Jian, whose injuries were severe. Thankfully, the medicine aboard the spaceship was far better than anything from Blue Star. His life was saved.
“Boss,” Old Five and the others finally arrived, their faces filled with excitement as they hugged Wang Jie.
Wang Jie felt the warmth he had long missed.
Though they had been apart for only two years, the distance they had traveled in that time was unimaginable. He had truly been through life and death.
Blue Star was his true home.
“Why are you so late?” Wang Jie asked.
Qing Zheng leaned in with a grin, “Boss, guess what gift I brought you?”
Wang Jie raised an eyebrow.
Old Nine pulled out an envelope.
“A proposal letter!” Qing Zheng shouted.
Wang Jie…
Everyone else burst into laughter.
Wang Jie raised a hand, fingers curling, “If you want to get beaten, just say so.”
Qing Zheng quickly begged for mercy, “Boss, I was just kidding, just kidding.” He winked at Old Nine, who then brought something in from the door.
Wang Jie’s eyes widened when he saw it. It was… an egg tart?
“Boss, try it and see if it tastes right.”
Wang Jie took the tart, inhaling its fragrant aroma, and bit into it. “Delicious.”
“Ha, I knew you’d like it. You have no idea, since you left, the three of us have been studying this, along with soy milk and fried dough sticks. We’ve been waiting for you to come back and try them.”
“Second Brother experimented many times, going around catching mutated chickens to get eggs. The outside world gave him a new nickname.”
“Shut up, stop saying nonsense.”
“Chicken-catcher maniac,” Old Nine muttered.
Qing Zheng was furious, grabbing Old Nine by the neck and shaking him.
Wang Jie laughed, and the heavy atmosphere in the room lightened.
Even Hong Jian smiled, though it caused him pain.
As time passed, Wang Jie shared what he knew about the outside world, leaving everyone stunned. Especially his actions in the Ninth Star Chain. The way they looked at him was filled with awe and speechlessness.
One could imagine how furious the true disciple must have been.
Outside Blue Star, on a spaceship, Xuan sat calmly, sipping some alcohol. “So this is Blue Star’s white wine?” To him, it wasn’t spicy at all, but the smoke had an interesting taste.
He smoked one after another, slowly feeling a little dizzy.
Before leaving, he took some with him.
Time passed, and suddenly, an alarm sounded.
Xuan’s face changed as he looked at the holographic display. The alarm was coming from a Silver Radiance Empire warship far away. The ship had encountered a strong enemy.
Soon, the alarm stopped.
Xuan checked the ship’s records and let out a breath before connecting to Wang Jie’s personal terminal. “Trouble. The warship guarding one direction of Blue Star has been destroyed. Strong enemies are on their way.”
Wang Jie’s expression darkened. “Details?”
“I saw one full star realm, but based on what we know about the Gong Nation, there’s likely an even stronger commander. Conservatively, we expect two full star realms and at least three star-breaking realms. They’re heading this way.”
“Understood.”
Wang Jie bid farewell to the others, not mentioning the news, merely saying he was going back to the spaceship to fetch medicine for Hong Jian.
On the spaceship, Wang Jie looked at the holographic screen. Flickering lights appeared on it.
“We can’t fight here on Blue Star, or the planet will be destroyed.”
“Then we need to lure them away. I can do it, but I can’t handle two full star realms.”
Wang Jie understood. Xuan was just an ordinary full star realm cultivator, and even in the Silver Radiance Empire, that was quite rare. But the Gong Nation was comparable to the Frost Radiance Sect, maybe even superior in status, with extensive battle experience.
“You just handle the full star realm you can see, and leave the rest to me.”
Xuan looked at Wang Jie. “Will it work?”
Wang Jie clenched his fist. “Let’s try.” He then looked at Xuan, “If it doesn’t, we’ll die together.”
Xuan laughed indifferently. “I should’ve died the day I attempted to assassinate Jun Hua. I’ve already sullied the name of Silver Radiance Empire’s war god.” He paused, as if remembering something, “Can you get me some more cigarettes?”
Farther from Blue Star, a spaceship hovered in the space between the planet and the approaching Gong Nation forces. It was the first to spot the approaching Lao Bone.
“It’s Kui Rock, recorded in the sect. Last time, it had a combat rating of 60,000. Now, it’s at least 70,000. Not something that Xuan can stop,” Wu Mian said.
Jin Chu looked at the hologram, seeing Lao Bone. “It seems like we’ll have to step in.”
Wu Mian’s gaze shifted. “Kui Rock is mine.”
Jin Chu nodded.
Time passed slowly.
Lao Bone hadn’t noticed Jin Chu or Wang Jie. It was focused on its target. It confirmed the location of its fallen subordinates, and now its goal was Blue Star.
But as it saw Blue Star, it also spotted the spaceship near the planet.
The spaceship turned to go in another direction.
Lao Bone also turned, accelerating.
Kui Rock’s crimson eyes fixed on the distant stars. “That planet is too ordinary. It can’t possibly kill a star-breaking realm. Follow that spaceship.”
Lao Bone increased its speed.
Wang Jie breathed a sigh of relief as Lao Bone gave chase.
Soon, the spaceship landed on a desolate planet far from Blue Star. Though barren, the planet had water and plants, making it suitable for human survival. This would be where Wang Jie chose to fight.
The spaceship landed.
Soon after, Lao Bone arrived.
