Chapter 077
Chapter 77: The Walker of the Starry Sky
Su Ying Yu smiled faintly and left, but not before reminding Wang Jie that the trading process would take a month. This meant Wang Jie had a whole month to hunt creatures. A month was more than enough to deal with the top-level ten-seal creatures on the Slaughter Stone planet.
Wang Jie watched her retreating figure. “She said it would take a month to complete the process, but she settled the account right away. Su Ying Yu, huh?”
He held a storage ring in his hand, filled with a large amount of cataclysm materials—plenty to cover the cost of renting the Slaughter Stone planet. She had exchanged it all in advance.
“What kind of background does that trading house have?” Wang Jie asked.
Cheng Qian answered respectfully, “Star Dome Materials Trading House. It’s said to be under the Star Dome Vision.”
“Star Dome Vision?” Wang Jie was surprised.
“Yes, Star Dome Vision is the largest intelligence faction in the universe. Even my Frost Radiance Sect, from the eighth star chain, dares not offend them.”
Wang Jie nodded, no longer thinking much about it. Such a massive force was beyond his reach.
“First, deal with the current matters.”
He was heading to the Slaughter Stone planet again. He had been to one before, but it had no more dangerous creatures. Now, he was going to a different one.
The new Slaughter Stone planet was far from his current location. Wang Jie had to report his departure to proceed.
During the journey, he continued his cultivation, exercising to enhance his imprint power.
When they arrived at the Slaughter Stone planet, he used a battle power detector to locate the ten-seal creatures.
There weren’t many left. After all, the planet had already been harvested once. But there were still some.
In just over ten days, he cleared them all, though the amount of cataclysm materials he obtained was minimal—just enough to make the effort worthwhile. He then returned.
His fifth imprint had turned a shade of dark gray.
Wang Jie’s surroundings were filled with three hundred yellow beans spinning faster and faster. He had made significant progress in cultivating his Qi, but without a way to increase his Qi further, he was only becoming more familiar with it.
Suddenly, an alarm went off.
Wang Jie looked ahead. The light screen showed a spaceship rapidly approaching.
This was his private travel route. Where had this spaceship come from?
Wang Jie immediately sent a signal for the approaching spaceship to divert.
But the ship ignored him and continued on its collision course. He had no choice but to dodge. As they passed each other, Wang Jie glanced at the ship. It was small and ordinary, and he couldn’t see anything of interest with the naked eye.
He immediately sent the details of the ship’s approach for investigation. This could be a big deal—if he didn’t handle it properly, it could mean death.
Just as he thought of this, another alarm blared.
Again?
He looked at the light screen, his eyes narrowing. It wasn’t a spaceship this time. It was… a person?
In the starry sky, there was someone.
Wang Jie looked outside.
A figure in a black robe appeared, gliding closer across the icy white surface. The person skated effortlessly across the ice, briefly stepping on Wang Jie’s spaceship before vanishing.
Wang Jie quickly looked behind him and was stunned.
The white ice spread across the starry sky, freezing the universe. The previously dark and deep sky had become snow-white.
In the distance, the spaceship that had nearly collided with Wang Jie froze first, then shattered, turning into cosmic dust.
It was gone.
Whoever had been in that ship was now dead.
Wang Jie stared in shock at the disappearing white expanse, and slowly, the white receded, leaving the sky dark once more.
That… was the wandering star realm.
The so-called “wandering star” referred to someone who could freely walk through the starry sky. It was a level beyond the star-breaking realm and full star realm, heights he could only dream of reaching.
A cultivator of lock force might reach the star-breaking realm or even the full star realm, but he had never heard of anyone reaching the wandering star realm.
Without a doubt, Wang Jie would never achieve such a level in his lifetime.
Yet now, he had witnessed it with his own eyes.
The spaceship was weak in its presence, easily destroyed at will, and far slower than the person.
Was this even a human?
What kind of cultivation would allow someone to reach the wandering star realm?
Wang Jie was lost in thought.
Knock, knock, knock.
A knock echoed through the spacecraft.
Wang Jie’s expression changed as he turned to look outside. The person in the black robe was knocking on the door.
He stared in disbelief.
The black-robed figure raised their head, smiled at him, and pointed at the door.
Wang Jie swallowed nervously and opened the door. He knew if he didn’t, the ship itself might be destroyed.
The black-robed figure entered and immediately dropped into a chair, tossing aside the robe with an air of exhaustion. “Got any water? Let me have a drink.”
The man was middle-aged, his expression lazy as he leaned back in the chair.
Wang Jie quickly poured him some water.
The man drank, letting out a contented sigh. “Ah, that’s better.” He put down the cup, looked at Wang Jie, and smiled. “Although you gave me water, I’m afraid I still have to kill you.”
Wang Jie’s eyes narrowed, his voice dry. “Why?”
The man shrugged. “No choice. You’ve seen me now, and just to be safe, you’ll have to die.” As he spoke, a drop of water floated up from the cup, spinning in the air in front of him. At that moment, Wang Jie felt a chill crawl down his spine, a sense of inevitable doom washing over him. He stared at the man. “Are you from the Frost Radiance Sect?”
“You guessed it. Can’t not kill you now that you’ve figured it out,” the man said, his tone casual.
“Wait, I’m one of them too.” Wang Jie quickly intervened.
The man frowned. “You don’t carry the power of the Frost Radiance Sect. Lying doesn’t suit you. Men should die with some backbone. Take it easy, it’ll be over soon.”
Wang Jie quickly showed the man his personal terminal, opening the contribution system.
The man raised an eyebrow as he saw it, a drop of water still spinning in front of him. “Well, well.”
He looked Wang Jie over. “But you’re not from the Frost Radiance Sect. Silver Radiance Empire, right?”
Wang Jie nodded.
The man sighed, rubbing his head. “Although the chances of you surviving are slim, I’m a kind-hearted person, so I’ll give you a chance.”
“Let’s see what happens, life or death depends on the other side.”
He immediately contacted someone via his personal terminal.
Soon, a voice came from the other end. “Yan Fu Yu, have you dealt with it?”
It was Jin Chu’s voice, and Wang Jie recognized it. He had met her once.
The man spoke. “Yes, but it’s a bit troublesome.” He explained Wang Jie’s situation. “By the way, what’s his name?”
“Wang Jie. I’m an emperor’s guard. I’ve met Lady Jin Chu,” Wang Jie answered.
On the other side, Jin Chu paused. “Wang Jie? What does Yan Fu Yu plan to do with him?”
The man shook his head. “It’s up to you now, before the battle starts. You decide.”
Wang Jie felt a weight in his chest.
He knew that contacting Jun Hua wouldn’t help now. If Jin Chu had sent him a mission, even Jun Hua couldn’t refuse directly. There was a noticeable power disparity.
“Our Frost Radiance Sect has been planning for years. My suggestion is to just kill him.”
Wang Jie’s face darkened, and he slowly clenched his fists.
“But Yan Fu Yu, don’t you have that mission? I wanted him to participate before, but Jun Hua stopped me. Now let him take part. He’s done some good, helping Mu Ran with the formation,” Jin Chu’s voice came through.
Hearing this, Wang Jie finally relaxed, though he still didn’t know what the mission was, at least it was better than being killed.
The man looked at Wang Jie again, nodding. “Alright, another one won’t hurt. And I think this little fellow has some ability.”
After the conversation ended, the man smiled at Wang Jie. “Congratulations, you’re alive.”
Wang Jie let out a long breath. “Thank you, Senior.”
“Don’t thank me just yet. Sometimes, surviving is harder than dying. Now you’ll have to listen to me. My name’s Yu Yan, but they all call me Yan Fu Yu. You can call me that too, if you survive the mission.”
“Now, change direction.”
The spaceship veered off course, heading toward a familiar location—the Silver Radiance Empire’s border, where Wang Jie had helped Mu Ran set up the formation.
So he was going to participate in the war after all.
He had escaped once, but not a second time. It seemed unlucky.
But Wang Jie didn’t fear it. Since it had happened, he would face it. After all, he had struggled through the apocalypse on Blue Star for ten years. The Mourning Water Art materials demanded he fight. War was the easiest way to gather them.
Soon after the ship turned, the imperial capital noticed an anomaly.
“Quick, report to the emperor! Wang Jie’s ship has deviated from its course. He hasn’t returned.”
“Yes, sir.”
Jun Hua frowned. “Deviated from its course?” Her expression grew heavy as she looked at Yu Dong.
Yu Dong’s voice was serious. “We can’t reach him.”
Jun Hua immediately ordered the border to be sealed off. Any crack could jeopardize the entire war effort. They couldn’t afford to make a mistake. But just then, a message from Jin Chu arrived, and Jun Hua glanced at it before lifting the blockade.
“What’s going on?” Yu Dong asked, nervously. This was crucial to the Frost Radiance Sect’s plans.
Jun Hua glanced at her. “Wang Jie’s involved in the mission.”
Yu Dong was confused. “Didn’t you refuse on his behalf?”
Jun Hua shook her head. “I don’t know. But right now, the only one who can reach him is Senior Sister Jin Chu.”
“Why did Senior Sister Jin Chu ask him to join the mission twice? A ten-imprint cultivator shouldn’t be drawing this much attention, unless…?” She looked at Jun Hua, and they both fell silent, a thought forming in their minds—the Armor One Sect spaceship.
Not far from the planet where Wang Jie had helped Mu Ran set up formations, there was a tech civilization planet—primitive, still in its early stages. Spaceships could come and go without being noticed.
Wang Jie had been brought there, where he encountered over thirty ten-seal cultivators.
Surrounded by clouds, they stood atop a floating mountain, as close to the sky as possible.
“Go ahead. Stay put until the mission ends. Follow my orders,” Yu Yan said before leaving.
Wang Jie’s arrival went unnoticed, as though nothing special had happened.
These ten-seal cultivators were all strong, all cultivators of lock force.
Wang Jie found a quiet corner and waited.
Days passed, and more ten-seal cultivators arrived, while some left. The number of people in the valley kept changing.
Then one day, large quantities of cataclysm materials began falling from the sky. Each one was at the level of the ten-imprint materials Wang Jie had seen at the trading house, but ten times more powerful. These materials were precious, even in the trading house.
They rained down like raindrops.
Wang Jie was stunned.
How much of this was there?
The other ten-seal cultivators stared up in awe, but no one moved, letting the materials fall.
No one spoke or gave instructions on what to do.
For two days, no one touched the materials. On the third day, someone finally moved, picking one up. No one reacted, so that person kept collecting materials, and others joined in. Soon, everyone in the valley was fighting for the materials.
