Chapter 064
Chapter 64: A Good Day
Wang Jie exhaled deeply, glancing behind him. Four Eyes had been right; this broken spaceship had little functionality beyond one thing—it was sturdy. After such a collision, he nearly couldn’t kick the door open.
He looked ahead and raised his hand, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude. May I ask where I am?”
At that moment, two figures, one on the left and one on the right, rushed out, aiming at his head and legs, attacking in perfect coordination.
Wang Jie spun swiftly, easily evading them. He struck back in one smooth motion. Two light sounds rang out as the attackers were sent flying into the crowd.
Seven-Seal cultivation?
Before he could fully assess, someone else leaped down from the second floor, wind howling as they descended. This one was at the Nine-Seal level.
Wang Jie sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the strike. The ground was cleaved open by the incoming figure’s single-blade slash. He raised his foot and kicked the attacker into the air, sending the Nine-Seal cultivator flying.
The surrounding people raised their weapons, all aiming at him in warning.
Wang Jie surveyed the crowd and once again raised his hand, “I have no hostile intentions.”
A middle-aged man stepped forward, his presence commanding. Wang Jie’s eyes sharpened—such immense pressure.
This man was taller than most, his muscular frame resembling that of a wild beast. He walked out from the crowd and fixed his gaze on Wang Jie. “You’re wearing a combat power detector, which means you’re not a novice to the universe. I don’t care what your intentions are. Get down and surrender now, or don’t blame me for being rude.”
Wang Jie looked at the man. “I really don’t wish to make an enemy of you. It’s all a misunderstanding.”
The man’s voice turned cold. “Doesn’t matter. My name is Bian Qi, Star Breaking Realm.”
Wang Jie’s gaze flickered.
The next instant, Bian Qi vanished, moving with incredible speed. Wang Jie instinctively prepared to activate the Armor Eight Steps but restrained himself. He needed to test the other’s power first.
Bian Qi swung his hand, a horizontal swipe aimed directly at him.
Wang Jie focused, watching as the combat power detector locked at 3900.
So low?
Bang!
Wang Jie was struck by Bian Qi’s arm, sent crashing into the wall with a heavy thud. The wall was an unknown material, far tougher than iron. It didn’t break, but a large crack appeared.
Bian Qi smirked. “Not bad. This attack already surpasses the average Ten-Seal power, and you’re still standing. Keep going.”
Beep, beep, beep.
The reading shot up to 5600.
It doubled.
Wang Jie braced himself, delivering an elbow strike before clashing fists with Bian Qi.
His body was again sent flying.
Bian Qi was surprised. “You can still block it?”
Without pause, he attacked again, this time 9000.
Wang Jie’s eyes narrowed. As expected from a Star Breaking Realm cultivator. His strength had reached 9000. He couldn’t take another hit directly. At this level, Bian Qi’s destructive force was already comparable to Shu Mu Night’s eighty-nine times power. A single mistake, and he’d be seriously hurt.
Just as Bian Qi’s strike came, the entire warship jolted.
Bian Qi halted, his face changing. “What’s going on?”
Suddenly, a loud siren blared, signaling alarm. The warship shook violently, and the crew began to panic. Bian Qi didn’t even spare Wang Jie a glance as he rushed out. The rest of the crowd, pale-faced, followed suit. Only a few people remained focused on Wang Jie.
Wang Jie rubbed his arm, wondering if the recent collision had damaged the warship.
Boom! Boom!
The ship continued to shake, the sounds of explosions echoing through the halls. He could vaguely hear people shouting.
The sirens kept blaring.
Wang Jie took the opportunity to run. No one was watching him now. It seemed something had happened to these people.
He dashed out of the cafeteria, down the corridor, and saw another group of people in different uniforms rushing in. The crew inside the ship didn’t dare resist. They simply squatted down in submission.
A loud crash came from above. The force of the impact seemed to come from outside.
Ahead of him, the corridor, along with the cabins, was severed by a blade of light. Bian Qi, who had attacked Wang Jie earlier, was sent crashing down, spitting blood, his face pale.
Wang Jie looked up and saw an elderly man holding a battle saber, slowly descending.
The ship was filled with the sounds of explosions.
“Where’s Jun Tang?”
Bian Qi struggled to stand, glaring at the elderly man and shouting angrily, “Old General, this has nothing to do with you. Why interfere?”
The old man raised his battle saber slowly and brought it down.
Bian Qi made no attempt to resist, allowing the saber to land on his shoulder, forcing him to kneel.
“You little thing, when I was out fighting in the stars, you were still a child. How dare you shout at me? You want to die?” The old man’s voice was tyrannical.
Bian Qi bowed his head, trembling all over.
The old man turned, looking toward the other end of the corridor. There, a young man emerged, his expression calm. “He’s just loyal to me. Please don’t blame him, Old General.”
The young man saluted.
The surrounding crowd bowed in unison, “Greetings, Old General.”
“Greetings…”
Wang Jie imitated their actions, bowing as well.
The old man sheathed his battle saber and looked at the young man with a sigh. “I don’t want to get involved in royal matters, but my old friend’s dying wish left me no choice but to act.”
“You’ve been stripped of your inheritance rights. Why continue to fight her?”
Jun Tang looked at the old man. “It’s not that I want to fight her, it’s that she refuses to let me go.”
The old man shook his head. “It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong. I won’t intervene any further. Let’s go.”
Jun Tang asked, “Will Old General only intervene this once?”
The old man glanced at him and silently nodded.
Jun Tang smiled and saluted, “Understood. I’ll go with you now.”
Wang Jie was apprehended, knowing that from the moment he saw the old man, resistance was futile. It didn’t even require the old man’s intervention; Bian Qi alone could easily subdue him.
Moreover, there were many other cultivators nearby, and the ship’s weapons could pose a serious threat.
Then there was Jun Tang, the young man—he exuded the same pressure as Bian Qi. Clearly, he was another Star Breaking Realm powerhouse.
Are Star Breaking Realm cultivators common in this universe?
For Wang Jie, his bad luck began the moment Four Eyes couldn’t manage the ship’s power properly.
Now, he was shackled and walking along a desolate planet, facing the grim task of mining.
He was considered a traitor.
Explaining things wouldn’t matter. Outside, it seemed they were celebrating someone’s official ascension to the throne as emperor, while he, alongside Jun Tang, had been exiled to this barren planet to work as laborers.
Wang Jie didn’t know how to describe it. He could only say, his luck was terrible.
This desolate planet was freezing, the air thick with a pungent, nauseating stench. The ground was a gray, solid mass, and their task was to mine a specific ore to submit.
Only by mining enough could they reduce their sentences.
Depending on cultivation strength, different individuals wore varying levels of shackles.
Wang Jie, with his Ten-Seal cultivation, wore shackles ten times heavier than the others. Of course, it was light for him. The Silver Radiance Empire clearly didn’t regard him as important.
Bian Qi, however, had shackles far heavier, and his star force was disabled. Rumor had it that he’d been drugged, making him occasionally dizzy and confused.
The treatment for Star Breaking Realm cultivators was different.
The clanking sounds of the shackles echoed endlessly.
They could explore the universe and build warships, but mining still followed such primitive methods.
Clearly, the purpose wasn’t truly to mine—it was a punishment.
Wang Jie, along with others, handed in the ores they had mined, keeping careful track.
He didn’t mine too much or too little—just enough to understand the situation.
Within a few days, things took a turn for the worse.
He became the target of bullying.
“You, you, and you, hand over your ores.”
Wang Jie was called out by Bian Qi, and the ores were to be handed over to Jun Tang for submission.
Jun Tang’s status was special—he was a prince of the Silver Radiance Empire. Even though he had been stripped of his inheritance rights and rebelled, the overseers still dared not offend him. They let him do as he pleased.
Wang Jie glanced at the ores in his hands and agreed. After all, he was unfamiliar with the place and didn’t know anyone. It was best to endure. But things soon escalated. Not only did he have to hand over the ores, but he was also expected to kneel while doing so.
Kneel? Wang Jie couldn’t accept that. He ignored them completely.
Bian Qi, enraged, stepped forward and grabbed his collar. “Kid, I remember you. If I hadn’t been distracted that day, I would’ve killed you.”
Wang Jie looked at him. “How about a deal? I’ll give him all the ores, but I won’t kneel.”
“You think you’re worthy of negotiating with us?” Bian Qi sneered.
Wang Jie appraised him. “Star Breaking Realm, in this situation, how much power can you exert?”
Bian Qi laughed coldly. “You can try.”
“And they won’t stop us?” Wang Jie pointed to the overseers outside the mine.
“No one will interfere.”
Wang Jie nodded. “Then I’ll rest easy.”
“Rest easy? For what?”
“To beat you up.” Wang Jie struck with his knee, slamming it into Bian Qi’s abdomen with tremendous speed and force. Bian Qi felt it but, shackled, couldn’t dodge. The blow sent him staggering, slowly kneeling.
Wang Jie kicked him down the slope, sending him tumbling.
The commotion drew attention.
Thousands of workers in the mine turned to look. They hadn’t expected Wang Jie to make a scene.
Wang Jie then turned his gaze to the overseers.
They looked back but made no move.
Wang Jie was stunned. They really weren’t going to interfere?
Jun Tang watched, surprised that anyone dared resist him here.
Wang Jie looked down at Bian Qi, smiling. “You were right, no one’s intervening. This is interesting.”
At the bottom of the hill, Bian Qi took a while to recover, glaring at Wang Jie with venom. “You’re seeking death.” He climbed the slope and charged at Wang Jie with a punch.
Wang Jie threw out his own punch.
Both were restricted, but Bian Qi’s restrictions were far greater. No one knew Wang Jie’s true strength.
The result was simple—Bian Qi was beaten again.
Wang Jie easily blocked his punch and kicked him flying once more.
Jun Tang’s eyes flickered. The suppression against different cultivation levels was fair. Star Breaking Realm cultivators had many restrictions, but because they were so strong, their physical and experiential advantages far surpassed those of Ten-Seal cultivators. This man had actually beaten Bian Qi?
Even among Ten-Seal cultivators, he was a powerhouse.
Bian Qi, unwilling to concede, charged again.
Wang Jie sent him flying again, stepping on his face.
One of the materials needed for the Sword Step technique was stepping on one hundred faces. Here was the first.
Bian Qi roared in fury, ordering the others to charge.
Wang Jie showed no mercy, taking them on one by one. He kept an eye on the overseers outside the mine, watching their reactions. If they interfered, he’d back off. After all, it was their territory.
But strangely, no one intervened, no matter how much noise he made.
He continued, knocking down one person after another, his eyes locking onto Jun Tang. This person was also a Star Breaking Realm cultivator.
Jun Tang’s gaze remained calm as he watched Wang Jie knock down a group of people, stepping on their faces one by one.
