Chapter 063
Chapter 63: Safe Travels
Light gathered, and a sword thrust deep into Wang Jie’s mind. He stood still for a moment, dazed, then raised his hand to grip the sword, sensing something different. The Star Gazing Sword Style required three types of materials, much like the Heaven and Earth Luo Xuan Finger. Its power, too, should be comparable.
Wang Jie lifted the sword, pointing it towards the dim, gray sky. His gaze focused, and he saw the stars flicker in the distance. Each star became the next point of attack for his sword.
Far stronger than the Rainbow Drinking Sword Style.
For the next period, he practiced the Star Gazing Sword Style constantly. Half a month later, he struck, and his sword sank into the ground, planting a new technique—Sword Step.
This technique required four materials.
With a nervous heart, Wang Jie reached out and touched the four green sprouts.
Star Gazing Sword Style extinguishes the stars.
Delicate sword tassels.
Pick the Seven Colored Flower and give it to someone close.
Step on one hundred faces.
The first two were fine, but the third one felt off, and the fourth… seemed too simple.
The hardest, evidently, was the first: extinguishing the stars with the Star Gazing Sword Style, requiring the power of the Star Breaking Realm. It was impossible to reach that in Blue Star, even if one could achieve it. It simply wasn’t feasible.
Then there was the Seven Colored Flower and the sword tassels—both required searching.
The scene around him restored itself. Wang Jie sat back in his chair, gazing into the distance. The Sword Step would have to wait. But the techniques he had now were sufficient.
In the last half month, apart from training the Star Gazing Sword Style, he had focused on exercises to increase his strength.
His power had now increased to ninety-seven times.
The earlier feeling had been correct—his limits had loosened.
To put it bluntly, when it came to raw power, he had surpassed the Third Reforge Shu Mu Night.
Shu Mu Night was at eighty-nine times, though it was unknown whether he had broken through since. Wang Jie, however, had already reached ninety-seven times.
Days passed, and Wang Jie finished his exercises, exhaling deeply.
His limit—ninety-nine times.
No further.
And on this day, it was nearly one year since the first wave of trial takers had arrived. It was time for him to leave.
Outside Upper Capital City Base, many cultivators looked on from a distance.
They were all curious whether the crude spacecraft—what they called a “spaceship”—could really leave Blue Star.
Tang Jie, Lian Qin, Hong Jian, and the others had all gathered.
Qing Zheng, Old Five, and Old Nine formed a circle around Four Eyes, “Boss, don’t worry. If anything goes wrong, we’ll send him to join you.”
Four Eyes rolled his eyes. “It won’t go wrong. Even if it does, you won’t see it.”
“At least don’t let it explode!” Old Five shouted.
Four Eyes was speechless. “Illiterate, do you think this thing has a chance to explode? The materials and energy are all foreign. I’m just drawing the power out.” He fell silent, realizing there was no point in talking to these guys. Would they understand?
Wang Jie felt deeply uneasy—truly uneasy. But he knew he had to go.
“Hey, kid, ready?” Four Eyes shouted.
Wang Jie gestured an okay.
Four Eyes exhaled and pressed the button.
A tremendous force pushed from the spacecraft, slamming into the ground without any cushion. It immediately launched the ship into the stars, disappearing in the blink of an eye, leaving only a white streak in the sky.
Four Eyes was stunned. “Seems like… I overdid it.”
Old Five and the others glared at Four Eyes with dangerous eyes.
Hong Jian and the others gazed upward. “Safe travels.”
At the three bases, countless people in Hua Xia watched the sky, silently wishing him well.
…
Wang Jie had survived beast tides, fought Shu Mu Night, and experienced life and death. He feared nothing.
But at this moment, he was terrified.
It felt like his soul was leaving his body.
So fast? Blue Star disappeared in the blink of an eye—this wasn’t just about speed anymore.
He gripped the seat tightly, his imprint power circulating through his body. Sweat poured down his face as the universe seemed to shake, the sensation more torturous than death.
Fortunately, this feeling only lasted for a short while.
As the spacecraft gently vibrated, everything returned to normal.
Looking outside, Blue Star was far in the distance. The sun sparkled like a jewel set in the night sky, but it was also moving farther away.
The endless expanse of space surrounded him, giving a sense of disorientation, like standing on air.
Wang Jie wiped his forehead, recovering from the experience. That Four Eyes… I hope Old Five and the others beat him up. That speed was too much for me to handle.
Now, the speed had slowed, but it was still fast—it had just left the atmosphere and settled into calm.
He looked around, curious. So this is space. He tilted his head upward, and the bridge still existed.
Wen Zhao had mentioned this. No matter where you were in the universe, unless obstructed, you could always see the bridge.
He changed position, and this time he saw a beam of light—perhaps something else—descending from the sky, likely a pillar of the bridge. A bridge must have pillars, and these pillars could be seen anywhere because they spanned the entire universe, from top to bottom.
No wonder the universe was called the Cosmic Sea.
Without a sea, a bridge wouldn’t make sense. It would be called a river instead.
Lost in these wandering thoughts, Wang Jie stared at the universe. He lost track of time, staring for days. He had enough compressed food to last three years, and plenty of cataclysm materials to replenish his imprint power. His life was not in danger, but he had no idea when he would encounter alien life.
According to Four Eyes’ predictions and the current speed, he should reach the location where the extraterrestrial signal had appeared within a year.
Days passed, and the dark, vast universe no longer held any novelty for Wang Jie. He began to train. The Ten Seal Realm couldn’t be increased, and he had no idea how to reach the Star Breaking Realm. So, he focused on refining his control over qi.
He didn’t know how to increase his qi, but he could practice manipulating it.
So, he had brought a large handful of soybeans.
Previously, by controlling the qi, he could make seventeen soybeans float freely on any part of his body. The better his control over the qi, the stronger his combat ability. Just like Shu Mu Night—despite having the same eighty-nine times the strength, he was much stronger than Wang Jie. Without the combination of qi and strength, he wouldn’t have been able to block him.
Star Force was even more obvious.
Both were at eight seals, but Wang Jie had to rely on external forces to match Shu Mu Night. He only used his own strength and Star Force. If Shu Mu Night could do it, Wang Jie believed he could as well. But it would take time and training.
The more boring the training, the more suitable it was for passing time.
Two months passed quickly. Wang Jie looked at the more than forty soybeans in front of him and continued his training.
Suddenly, an invisible force swept through the spaceship, jerking it in another direction. The combat power detector began sounding alarms. Wang Jie tumbled inside the ship, barely grabbing the seat to stabilize himself. He looked out the window and vaguely saw a massive figure flash by, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Was that… a giant beast?
The combat power detector’s value stopped at 330,219.
Wang Jie was stunned.
Over ten thousand combat power? What does that even mean?
This combat power detector had been modified by Four Eyes, who had extracted data to reveal that the highest combat power recorded on Blue Star was 7,800, from the deep-sea giant beast killed by Shu Mu Night. They weren’t sure about Shu Mu Night’s combat power, nor could they measure Wang Jie’s.
But even if they could measure it, it wouldn’t surpass ten thousand. Combat power above that signified Star Breaking Realm, which they had learned from captured trial takers.
But just now, it had exceeded three hundred thousand.
Wang Jie never expected to encounter such a terrifying creature. He couldn’t even make out its appearance.
He removed the combat power detector. Can this thing really measure over three hundred thousand? Had Four Eyes modified it, or was it always capable of such feats?
This is bad.
Suddenly, Wang Jie realized something and looked outside. The path had changed.
The giant beast had swept by, its wake forcing the ship in another direction. Wang Jie’s face darkened as he looked at the screen—the direction had shifted dramatically, though he could still track the original signal’s position.
I need to change direction.
He had practiced on Blue Star for a few days, and though it was difficult, it was certainly possible.
However, the next moment, his face turned pale.
I can’t change direction. It’s broken.
The earlier giant beast’s wake had damaged something, leaving the directional controls useless.
This is bad.
His face drained of color as he looked at the screen. We’re in trouble now.
…
In the deep starry sky, a massive warship raced forward, its surroundings compressing and warping the stars.
Inside the ship, everyone’s face was grim, and the atmosphere was incredibly tense.
Suddenly, alarms blared.
Everyone’s hearts sank as panic swept through the crew.
In the command room, a young man opened his eyes, his gaze cold and menacing as he stared at the screen. “They’ve come?”
“Prince, no. Something is approaching, but its position is unclear.”
The young man stared at the screen, his brow furrowing.
Soon, the object grew closer, clearer, and finally, an elliptical shape appeared before everyone.
“What is that?”
“A stone?”
“It’s a spaceship.”
The young man fixed his gaze on the screen. “A spaceship?”
“Someone’s inside. It’s heading straight toward us.”
“Clear the way.”
“We can’t. We found it too late.”
“Drive it away immediately.”
The crew tried to maneuver the ship, but the object had no intention of avoiding them. It sped toward them without slowing down.
As it looked like a collision was imminent, the warship opened its defenses.
“Forcefully block it!”
The spaceship plunged into the warship’s interior, slamming through the defensive nets. These were only used during war to prevent enemy ships from docking.
Due to the speed of the spacecraft, the nets were ripped apart, but they slowed the ship just enough before it crashed into the ship’s chamber, destroying nearly half the equipment inside. The spacecraft embedded deeply into the warship’s dining hall wall, smoke billowing from the wreckage.
Over a thousand soldiers rushed out, weapons aimed at the spacecraft.
Everyone was on edge.
Bang.
The spaceship shook.
The tension in the air only increased.
In the command room, the young man’s eyes never left the dining hall screen, his frown deepening.
Bang.
With a loud crash, the spaceship door was kicked open. A figure rushed out, violently coughing. The soldiers immediately surrounded him, weapons trained on him.
“Surrender. Don’t move.”
“Immediately surrender.”
Cough, cough.
Wang Jie coughed repeatedly, the smoke choking him. It took a moment to regain his composure.
Damn it. That was close.
Half a year ago, he had boarded this crude spaceship and entered space, following the predetermined course. Who would have thought he’d encounter an unknown giant beast, be thrown off course, and lose control? For the next four months, he’d been constantly on edge.
The most dangerous moment had been just now.
He had encountered a massive warship—something so huge it dwarfed even Blue Star Base. It had been directly in his path. He had watched, helpless, as the ship didn’t even attempt to avoid him, swallowing him whole.
For a moment, he thought he was done for.
After coughing a few more times, he realized the situation—This is a real mess.
