Chapter 058
Chapter 58: My Territory
On the altar, Shu Mu Night stood frozen, staring at the corpse beneath him. His face burned with an intense pain. Had he really been slapped? He couldn’t believe it.
A native, just an eight-seal native, had slapped him?
How could this be possible?
“On behalf of all the Hua Xia people of Blue Star, I, Wang Jie, send you a slap!” Wang Jie shouted, his voice filled with laughter, his heart elated.
Shu Mu Night’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Wang Jie, his eyes no longer calm. An indescribable killing intent boiled within him. He had never hated anyone this much. That slap would haunt him for life. He vowed to crush this person to dust.
With a whoosh, Shu Mu Night moved, appearing right in front of Wang Jie, his right fist roaring forward, star force swirling around it. Wang Jie raised his arm as well, energy and power combining, his imprint power wrapping around his fist, striking.
Bang! Bang!
Both of them staggered back, blood spilling from their mouths.
It was like their reckless exchanges from before, but this time, it was far more brutal. Neither defended, nor cared about the other’s fists. Their only focus was on one thing: the other person.
Shu Mu Night’s rage nearly caused him to lose his reason.
Wang Jie stood on the altar, as if countless people were lifting him, urging him to not fall.
Fight.
Bang!
Shu Mu Night took a hit, but Wang Jie was struck as well. Wang Jie could clearly hear the sound of his bones breaking, yet invisible strength supported him.
Far away, in the three major bases and Armor One Sect, countless eyes were locked on the exchange of blood on the altar. The most primal of struggles—bloodshed turned into fireworks.
They didn’t know how many punches had been exchanged. Wang Jie took step after step backward, his body numb, pain long forgotten. In front of him, Shu Mu Night’s hair was dyed red, his face splattered with blood, his right arm hanging limply.
He regretted it, regretted not killing this person earlier.
He could’ve easily ended his life.
He regretted not killing him when he used the flute method just now; it could have been done.
Wang Jie smiled bitterly. “I don’t know who you are, or how noble your status is, but this is Blue Star. This is my territory.”
“My territory. You don’t belong here.” With those words, he rushed forward again.
Shu Mu Night glared at Wang Jie’s face, as if to etch it into his mind for eternity.
This punch struck directly at Shu Mu Night’s face, sending him crashing down toward the bodies on the altar, slamming hard into them.
Wang Jie himself was stunned. Had he won so easily?
Shu Mu Night rolled away, lying on his back, blood staining his face.
Wang Jie looked down, through the blood, and saw his eyes, his spirit jolted.
What he saw was Shu Mu Night’s eyes—those eyes that had returned to calmness. That calmness was as deep as an abyss.
He lay there, amidst countless corpses, gazing at Wang Jie, calm.
In Armor One Sect, Ting He’s face turned pale as she covered her mouth.
Shu Mu Night’s gaze scared her.
Around her, many disciples from Armor One Sect were also shaken, instinctively retreating. What kind of gaze was that? It seemed to come from hell, devouring everything. Being watched by those eyes made their scalps tingle.
Thick clouds descended once again, and the stench of blood became sharper.
Wang Jie stared at the fallen Shu Mu Night below, an unprecedented sense of danger settling over him. He had not yet lost, far from it.
Out on the sea, Chu Yao sat, gazing into the distance. Of everyone on Blue Star, only he saw this scene.
That eye in the clouds was fixed on the altar.
“This is trouble. I doubt I’ll leave alive. Hopefully, there’s a body to collect. But that wristguard is interesting,” he scratched his head, sighing in frustration.
On the altar, Shu Mu Night slowly sat up, looking at Wang Jie, rubbing his face. “I can’t remember the last time I felt like this. But you’ve woken me up with that slap.”
“Even ants can break a dam, let alone a slap in the face.”
“Wang Jie, you’re the first person to slap me, Shu Mu Night. I will remember you, for life.”
He got to his feet, unsteadily, trying twice before managing to stand. “But it’s time to end this. If you can withstand the flute method with your will, then I’ll change to another star method. Do you remember the Tianfu Base?”
Wang Jie’s gaze contracted. The image of Shu Mu Night lifting the Tianfu Base with one hand flashed in his mind.
The unimaginable way he wielded star force.
Shu Mu Night smiled at him. “This star method is rudimentary, I don’t like it. But it should be more effective against you. I initially held back because of the altar; after all, too many creatures of Blue Star have already been killed. But…” He took a step forward. “There are still millions of people.”
“The third altar, we’ll use all people.”
With those words, he stood right in front of Wang Jie.
The wind stopped. The clouds thickened, and an invisible pressure weighed heavily on everyone’s hearts.
Insect Xuan lay on the insect’s back, eyes closed, quietly. This had truly angered him.
No normal person could recover from a slap so quickly. Shu Mu Night’s current status wasn’t just given to him by Sincere One Dao. He had earned it on his own. He had the temperament and resilience.
And the tolerance beyond ordinary humans.
But the cost of that slap must be repaid. Millions of lives, the third altar, that was the price.
Indeed, no one could challenge him at eight seals.
Wang Jie looked at Shu Mu Night and saw the star force flowing on his surface. He hadn’t understood it before, but now, having cultivated his own energy, he saw how effortlessly Shu Mu Night controlled star force. Was this the star method? Compared to that, his own use of imprint power seemed clumsy.
“I have a question for you.”
“If I kill you, what will happen?” Wang Jie stared at Shu Mu Night. His voice was soft, but in the silence of the beach, it carried far, so far that all the trial takers heard it, and so did the people of Armor One Sect.
Everyone was stunned, staring at Wang Jie. Did he have another trick?
Shu Mu Night’s gaze deepened. “It won’t implicate Blue Star, because whether you kill me or not, Blue Star will be sacrificed. All the promises Armor One Sect made to you are lies.”
He hadn’t said this before, because it didn’t matter. But now, he wanted to be honest with this native, the one he would never forget. Honesty was the last respect he would show him.
Wang Jie understood, exhaling deeply. He looked up at the sky. The clouds obscured the sun, yet his gaze seemed to pierce through the endless starry sky, looking toward Armor One Sect, toward Wen Si Yuan and the others. “I know you’re watching. Go ahead and watch.” He raised his hand, giving a thumbs-up to the sky, then flipped it down. “Your high-and-mighty ways are disgusting.”
At Armor One Sect, by the lake, everyone stood frozen. Was this native mocking them?
“Hahahaha!” Shu Mu Night laughed. “Well said, but I’m high and mighty too, Wang Jie. If you have the ability, kill me.” His words dropped, and the boiling star force in his hand surged, sending visible ripples outward, lifting the thick clouds, and causing the earth to sink. An endless blood mist erupted, flying through the sky.
Star method, Hercules.
Wang Jie raised his hand, gray energy swirling in his palm, then he drew out a note.
It had been half a year.
Since he had borrowed strength to kill Hu Guan, half a year had passed, and now he could use it again.
He had delayed until now, not only to accumulate more power, but for this moment.
A wristguard, a promissory note, were his only two chances to fight Shu Mu Night.
He took out a pen and signed it—Qing Feng Unreturning Guest.
Let’s see how much strength he can borrow.
Shu Mu Night watched as Wang Jie performed this move, his gaze sharpening in shock. “Bridge law?”
The people of Armor One Sect were also stunned. There were countless techniques in the universe, far more miraculous than this, but an eight-seal cultivator had never used something like this. There was only one possibility—the Bridge Law.
They never expected that a native would know the Bridge Law.
Shu Mu Night recalled Wang Jie’s earlier words. He couldn’t wait anymore. Stepping forward, the flesh and blood altar was squeezed by an overwhelming force, causing blood to pour down like a waterfall. He launched a punch at Wang Jie, and the very heavens seemed to shake. The entire Blue Star seemed to tremble.
This punch was the maximum power Shu Mu Night could unleash at eight seals, using both star force and the star method. It was the strongest blow he could strike.
He hadn’t planned to break through to nine seals. He couldn’t accept that to defeat a native, he would need to rely on cultivation levels, something more humiliating than a slap in the face.
The promissory note automatically curled and floated into the gray energy. Wang Jie’s imprint power swirled around him, tearing his shirt as he twisted his body and clenched his fist, aiming for a perfect strike.
Bang!
Heaven and earth collided, a massive shockwave of power bursting into the void, creating endless heaven thunder that rained down. The thick clouds above were instantly evaporated, but quickly, the twisted ripples of power covered them, plunging the world into darkness. The terrifying pressure rushed toward the ocean and land.
The earth shook, and a terrifying shockwave exploded, centered on Wang Jie and Shu Mu Night, causing deafening sounds.
Shu Mu Night’s pupils contracted. He couldn’t believe Wang Jie had blocked his Hercules punch. It was impossible. No one at the same level could defeat him. Those others couldn’t, and this native definitely couldn’t.
Wang Jie stared intently at Shu Mu Night, his right arm’s blood vessels bursting, blood splattering, his eyes and ears bleeding.
He couldn’t retreat, not even a single step.
He had to push forward. Win, no matter what happened to Blue Star, just win once. This was Blue Star’s final roar.
They were living peacefully. Why should they be the ones to suffer the trials?
Weren’t they human too?
Didn’t they have mothers, fathers, sons, daughters?
They were alive too.
Since they couldn’t resist, he would strike this one punch, for Blue Star, for Hua Xia, for humanity.
Crack!
Heaven and earth split under the heaven thunder. Wang Jie gritted his teeth, his knees cracking under the strain, but he pushed on, imprint power flowing through him, pushing himself to hold on.
Shu Mu Night released all his star force, his hair standing on end, stepping forward, determined to crush Wang Jie.
Wang Jie screamed, looking down at the earth from a thousand meters high. His skin cracked, bones splitting, but he refused to give in. He connected his energy with his imprint power, just one win—he just needed one win.
Under his feet, tens of thousands of corpses supported him, urging him to win.
Crack!
Shu Mu Night’s arm shattered. He stared in shock at his own fist. The power had escaped. His star force dissipated. How could this be?
Wang Jie took a step forward. “Get out of Blue Star.”
His fist slammed hard into Shu Mu Night’s face, sending him flying off the altar, crashing violently into the earth.
Shu Mu Night fell like a shooting star, just as he had when he first arrived on Blue Star, creating a deep pit in the ground. But this time, he lay there, his forehead split open, half of his body shattered, blood staining his body.
