Chapter 053
Chapter 53: Corpse Sect
Wang Jie waved his hand. “Forget about that for now. Can I cultivate this energy? Will it help improve my combat strength?”
Chu Yao grinned, clearly pleased with himself. “Of course. The energy and power are two different cultivation paths. Generally speaking, those from large sects wouldn’t allow their disciples to cultivate both simultaneously. While it might rapidly boost your combat strength in the short term, it limits your future potential. One represents life, and the other, death.”
“But you’re cultivating lock force, so your future is already limited. You won’t mind practicing both paths,” Chu Yao continued. “Once you master this energy, combining it with your strength, your battle power could double.”
Wang Jie’s eyes widened in excitement. “Really? Teach me.”
Chu Yao nodded, then paused. “Wait a minute… Something’s off,” he frowned at Wang Jie. “You’re not planning to challenge Shu Mu Night again, are you?”
Wang Jie didn’t deny it. “Yes.”
Chu Yao ran his hand through his hair in frustration. “Brother, why won’t you give up? Even if your power doubles, you still can’t win against Shu Mu Night. Do you understand? It’s absolutely impossible.”
“I understand, but I still want to try.”
“That’s courting death.”
“Better than dying like this.”
“Are you threatening me?”
“You could say that.”
Chu Yao stood up in anger, the chair toppling over.
Inside the room, Liu Ying, frightened, stepped forward and said softly, “Please, don’t be angry.”
Chu Yao glared at Wang Jie.
Wang Jie simply looked up and met his gaze.
After a long silence, Chu Yao sighed and turned around, running his hands through his hair again.
Wang Jie watched him from behind. “You know my cultivation with lock force has no future. You know that combining energy and strength has no future either, yet you still want to take me along, even if it means I threaten you with death.”
“Chu Yao, are you really doing this for my sake? Or do you have other motives?”
Chu Yao turned, his expression now calm. “I’m saving you.”
Wang Jie nodded. “No matter what your motives are, even if we end up at Corpse Sect and they carve me into a thousand pieces, at least give me one more chance. Just once.”
“Last time I survived, this time will be no different.”
“I promise that after I fight Shu Mu Night, I’ll follow you, no matter what you do to me.”
Chu Yao let out a long breath. “Is it worth it?”
Wang Jie didn’t know how to answer. Everyone is selfish, and so is he. He didn’t want to die, and he wanted to explore the real universe, to see the stars. But some responsibilities can’t be escaped.
Some missions must be fulfilled.
“Even if I can take your good brothers with me, you still want to fight to the death with Shu Mu Night?” Chu Yao asked again.
Wang Jie’s gaze didn’t change. “I’m an orphan. But Dean treated me well. He’s bought me soy milk and fried dough sticks. I also like fried chicken and egg tarts.”
Chu Yao was speechless.
Liu Ying gulped quietly, her gaze darting to Wang Jie.
She then looked at Chu Yao with one eye and said, “Look through it.” She gestured, and Chu Yao raised his finger.
Wang Jie breathed a sigh of relief and raised his eyes to look at Chu Yao.
A transparent, flame-like, or air-like substance danced at Chu Yao’s fingertip. It would twist and coil, rise and fall, as though it had a life of its own.
“This is the energy.”
“There are two ways to cultivate energy. One is faster, using a tool to look at it. The more you look, the more likely you’ll cultivate it. The other is self-perception, but it takes too long, and you’re not suited for that.”
Chu Yao lowered his hand. “What you need to do now is use the eye to observe. When you can see the energy yourself, you’ll be able to sense it inside your body. Combine it with your strength, and your battle power will double.”
“That easy?”
“Easy? Try it for yourself.” Chu Yao looked displeased. “The eyes from Corpse Sect are the most effective in the Death Realm. They’ll help you immediately see the energy. No other sect has something this good. Do you know how valuable this eye is?”
“Even so, it’ll still take a long time before you can see the energy yourself. Most people are eliminated because they can’t see it. Only those who can see the energy are qualified to stay in Corpse Sect.”
Wang Jie kept looking at Chu Yao through the eye.
Chu Yao continued speaking, but soon became uncomfortable, feeling like Wang Jie was staring at him.
“Alright, look at others now. Every person has it.”
“Even ordinary people?”
“Of course, are ordinary people not human? Can’t they have luck? Can’t they have something they’re good at? A blacksmith’s energy is in their arms; it depends on what they specialize in.”
Wang Jie unconsciously looked at Liu Ying.
Liu Ying’s energy was weak, and the most concentrated part was… her chest. Quite large.
Wang Jie lowered his gaze and glanced at Chu Yao. No wonder this guy always liked staring at Liu Ying.
Chu Yao met his gaze right at that moment, looking serious.
They both silently looked away.
“Can I take a look?”
“No.” Both spoke at the same time.
Liu Ying…
Meanwhile, at Armor One Sect, Gu Moon stared at Wen Si Yuan, his gaze surprised. “Did you know this person is from Corpse Sect?”
When Chu Yao brought out the eye, everyone understood. This man was from Corpse Sect. The eye was Corpse Sect’s unique death weapon.
Wen Si Yuan calmly gazed at the lake. “Even if we knew, there’s nothing we can do. The trial must go on.”
Gu Moon marveled, “A trial with Shu Mu Night, and now Corpse Sect has sent someone. No wonder you’ve been trying to stop us.”
Wen Si Yuan looked at Gu Moon. “We won’t interfere with how Star Dome Visage reports, but if someone from Corpse Sect is here, Armor One Sect has no knowledge of it.”
Gu Moon nodded. “I understand, Elder. Don’t worry.” Then, he looked at the lake. “But this native learning energy… if he succeeds, there will be another battle with Shu Mu Night.”
Wen Si Yuan looked deeply at Wang Jie. “I’m curious about how he heals.”
Ting He glanced at Wen Si Yuan, remembering the conversation Wang Jie had with Chu Yao. Her gaze was complicated.
Wang Jie, now learning to observe the energy, found everything fresh and new. He carried the eye around, constantly looking at it, and noticed that Four-Eyes’ energy was concentrated in his head.
He also looked out from the building, observing passersby, each person having energy, just in varying amounts.
Cultivators’ energy made it easier to distinguish what they specialized in.
He eventually let Liu Ying look through the eye. The result was that Liu Ying looked at Chu Yao with a cold gaze, and Chu Yao didn’t respond. His eyes became like that of someone staring at a pervert.
In the courtyard, Wang Jie asked curiously, “Does Corpse Sect have this kind of eye? Do other Death Realm forces have them?”
Chu Yao rolled his eyes. “I’m not saying. This is unique to Corpse Sect. It’s called the death weapon, and when combined with Corpse Sect’s cultivation methods, it’s invincible. Anyone who sees this eye knows it’s from Corpse Sect.”
“Across the starry universe, all of Corpse Sect’s million literary star planets follow our orders.”
“It’s not something everyone can have.”
Wang Jie looked at Chu Yao. “So, you have a special identity?”
Chu Yao chuckled. “Flattery. I’m one of Corpse Sect’s hundred tombs. I’m called… Dead Chu Yao.”
Inside the room, Liu Ying walked out, silently bringing the tea.
Wang Jie picked up the eye and stared at Chu Yao.
Chu Yao laughed. “You can’t tell. I can control the energy myself, but what you see is just a disguise.”
Liu Ying looked at Chu Yao in surprise.
Chu Yao smiled at her. “Little sister, do you still want to keep looking?”
Liu Ying pointed at Chu Yao’s mouth. “Why do you have energy in your mouth?”
Chu Yao burst out laughing. “That’s energy shifting, I’m demonstrating.” Suddenly, he stopped, surprised as he stared at Liu Ying. “What did you say?”
Wang Jie stared at Liu Ying, equally stunned.
Liu Ying looked at Chu Yao, then at Wang Jie. “I asked, why do you have energy in your mouth?”
“You can see it?” Chu Yao was dumbfounded.
Liu Ying nodded.
Wang Jie raised the eye to look. Indeed, Chu Yao had energy in his mouth. He put the eye down—he couldn’t see it otherwise.
The room fell silent.
Liu Ying turned and walked away.
“Wait.” Chu Yao blocked her path. “Now look at where my energy is.”
Liu Ying looked at Chu Yao, raised her hand, and pointed three inches above his wrist.
Chu Yao shifted the energy again.
Liu Ying pointed it out again.
Chu Yao was stunned, standing motionless. He let Liu Ying walk inside, staring blankly at Wang Jie.
Wang Jie met his gaze.
When they spoke about energy, Liu Ying hadn’t been there, so she didn’t know how to cultivate energy. She only used the eye to look once and could see it herself?
This was insane.
Chu Yao felt like he’d seen a ghost.
“You said before, how long would it take you to see the energy?” Wang Jie asked.
Chu Yao’s lips twitched. No matter how long, it couldn’t compare to this woman. He looked inside the room. This woman was a true genius at cultivating energy. Among natives, Wang Jie was already strange, but now there was this woman too.
This woman had to be taken with him.
She was a prodigy.
Although she cultivated lock force, it wouldn’t hurt to take her back. After all, her cultivation wasn’t that high.
Liu Ying’s talent was discovered by accident, but that accident made Chu Yao temporarily shift his attention from Wang Jie to her, and Liu Ying began to feel that this guy had ulterior motives.
Wang Jie recovered and went to Upper Capital City Base to hunt mutated creatures. His survival hadn’t been widely spread. It wasn’t that he was deliberately hiding, but the people who knew him weren’t there anymore.
Qing Zheng, Old Five, Wen Zhao—they were all at Golden Hill Base.
At Upper Capital City Base, only Bai Yuan was present.
Bai Yuan arrived, bringing news from the outside world, and saw Wang Jie.
He didn’t expect Wang Jie to still be alive. He was overjoyed.
Although Wang Jie had lost to Shu Mu Night twice, it was undeniable that he was the closest to Shu Mu Night on Blue Star, and possibly the closest in the entire universe, within ten seals. His survival meant that there was still hope.
“Now, humans are continuously retreating. The borders have been broken. Only the Southern Nation, Golden Hill, and Upper Capital City still have intact bases.”
“Throughout Blue Star, humans are no longer the main players. Shu Mu Night’s attention has shifted from us to the oceans.”
“Yesterday, we received news from the Southern Nation Base. A terrifying ten-seal creature appeared under the sea, striking across the entire ocean to attack Shu Mu Night. The trial takers weren’t wrong. When Armor One Sect released so many Heaven Stones, they were putting their hope in the mutated creatures.”
This was the news Bai Yuan brought.
Wang Jie felt heavy-hearted.
The more mutated creatures there were, the more they could fight Shu Mu Night, but the chances of destroying the base also increased.
Humans were too weak now.
Chu Yao mocked, “Armor One Sect has no choice but to use these mutated creatures to deal with Shu Mu Night.”
“Forget Shu Mu Night. Even Brother Wang, you could take care of Blue Star’s strongest mutated creatures. After all, no creature at the breaking star stage can be born. As long as it’s within ten seals, you’re invincible.”
