Chapter 78
Chapter 78: ke li nuo grasslands
It didn’t sound impressive on paper, but Ling Mo believed everything had its use.
By the time Jiang Xin and Ye Kai finished their work, Ling Mo had almost stripped the area bare of siphon mushroom and dragon fang grass.
Once they’d learned Ling Mo had a pocket space, the two of them started leaving their things with her. It was safer.
The three of them rode on. Since they weren’t in a rush, they went slower.
“Mo Mo,” Ye Kai said, “did you ask where the next beastman is?”
The two of them had realized something: doing tasks with Ling Mo was amazing. The conditions were good, the pay was high, and the employers treated them well.
Ye Kai’s question made Ling Mo freeze. Then she smacked her forehead. She’d completely forgotten.
But forgetting wasn’t fatal. She had other options.
She placed her hand on the antler horse’s head. A short moment later, she warned, “Hold tight.”
Jiang Xin and Ye Kai didn’t understand—until the antler horse lurched so hard they nearly got thrown off.
Luckily, both of them had riding experience. They clung on and barely stabilized themselves.
On the road, they passed a group of unfamiliar players. They didn’t even get a clear look before the two groups crossed paths and were gone.
“Captain,” someone said, staring, “weren’t there people riding those three beasts?”
123 Wood glared at his team member. “I’m not blind. Of course I saw people.”
Another person sighed enviously. “Must be nice. Riding antler horses beats walking any day.”
Meanwhile, the three being envied weren’t happy at all.
The ride was brutal. After getting shaken around for too long, they finally had to stop and rest.
Ling Mo pulled out three meals and held up a box of energy bar. “Food or an energy bar?”
“Food!” Ye Kai and Jiang Xin shouted at the same time.
Even if energy bar tasted better than nutrient tonic, if they had a choice, they wanted real food.
After eating, they rested a little longer, climbed back on, and continued.
About an hour later, they finally reached their destination.
A black gate loomed ahead. The air around it was damp and cold enough to seep into their bones. All three of them shivered.
Ye Kai looked at Ling Mo uneasily. “Are you sure this is the place? Something feels off.”
Ling Mo nodded. “The antler horse says this is the long-legged spider’s home.”
“Spider?!” Ye Kai’s voice shot up, and he took an instinctive step back.
Jiang Xin grabbed him and dragged him forward anyway.
They knocked and stepped inside.
The interior wasn’t gloomy at all. It was bright, clean, and surprisingly cozy.
Then a woman approached—gentle, refined, and elegant.
Her legs were so long they looked unreal. The three of them stared like idiots, speechless.
It felt like her legs were almost taller than Ling Mo.
Ling Mo recovered first and stepped forward. “Hello, we’re—”
Before she could finish, the woman cut her off. “I know. You’re here looking for work, right? The antler horses already told me everything. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
Ling Mo blinked, stunned. The antler horses could do that?
The woman’s gaze swept over Ling Mo. “You’ve only just come of age, and you’re not married, right? In that case, you probably can’t help me watch my child. You’re a child yourself. I don’t feel comfortable letting a child look after another child.”
She thought for a moment. “How about this: you help with housework. The two behind you look capable—let them mix formula. That’s real labor.”
“No problem,” Ling Mo said, without the slightest hesitation.
Jiang Xin and Ye Kai didn’t object either. After what they’d been through, mixing formula sounded practically relaxing.
Ye Kai lowered his voice to Ling Mo. “If we’re mixing formula, what are you doing?”
He couldn’t help noticing it—she rarely seemed to do tasks alongside them. Even back at the lion beastman’s place, she’d vanished for a long time.
“Housework,” Ling Mo said simply.
As if on cue, the woman returned with a pile of cleaning tools and waved Ling Mo over.
Ling Mo picked up something shaped like a scraper and asked, “What do I do with this?”
The woman led her into a room.
Everything—walls, ceiling, and floor—was white. But when Ling Mo looked closer, she realized it wasn’t paint. Every corner was wrapped in thick, dense webbing, and cocoon-like bundles of silk clung to the walls.
“Just scrape all the webs off,” the woman said. “Then pile everything in the storage room.”
Ling Mo hesitated. Then she said carefully, “Actually… I have another identity. I’m a recycler.”
The moment she entered the room, Qie Man’s voice sounded in her head: “Silk spun by a long-legged spider. A top-tier healing item. Applied to a wound, it stops bleeding and heals quickly without leaving a scar. However, due to poor storage, the webs here have hardened and the effect is greatly reduced. They must be soaked in warm water for two hours before use.”
Judging by the woman’s indifference, this silk wasn’t important to her. Even so, this was her home, and she’d said to pile it in storage, not throw it away. Ling Mo didn’t want trouble.
The woman’s eyes lit up at the word “recycler.”
“Really? That’s perfect. Then handle all the webs here and the ones in storage too. I’ll pay you double.”
With that reaction—paired with everything Ling Mo had seen these past few days—she reached a simple conclusion: recycler was a highly sought-after job in interstellar.
And the higher your rank, the more in demand you were.
Motivated by the spider silk, Ling Mo moved fast.
She scraped up a corner, grabbed it, and yanked. An entire sheet of webbing peeled off the wall.
Room after room, she worked through the house.
By the time she finished, her mental power was worn thin, but her body didn’t feel tired at all—thanks to the special fruits she’d been eating nonstop.
Ling Mo could feel it clearly: her strength and speed had climbed to the point where she could easily overpower an adult.
A robot led her toward the storage room.

Apocalypse Scavenger Queen
Ling Mo thought transmigrating meant a stress-free life—eat, sleep, and lie flat until the credits rolled.
Then she sat bolt upright on the verge of death and realized she’d grabbed the...
