Chapter 56
Chapter 56: The End
In the living room, Ling Mo was preparing dinner and getting ready to feed the stray cats and dogs as well.
Because of her talent, she hadn’t gone to the front line. And her mental power still couldn’t cover the entire neighborhood.
Even so, she could keep track of what was happening through Big Black and Little Black.
Her rice had just finished cooking when a massive boom sounded in the distance, followed by the noise of fighting.
But the fighting ended almost as soon as it began.
Through Big Black and Little Black, Ling Mo quickly pieced together the whole situation.
The moment Jiang Xin realized the other side was closing in, he didn’t wait for them to strike first. He went on the offensive and caught them completely off guard.
The attackers already had fewer people than Jiang Xin’s side, and they hadn’t expected the neighborhood’s players to unite at all.
In the end, the “battle” ended before it truly began.
While they were cleaning up, Jiang Xin felt lucky they’d moved quickly—because the attackers had been hiding firearms.
When he confirmed they were real guns and not props, cold sweat broke out on his back.
Even after awakening talents, they were still made of flesh and blood. Bullets could injure them—or kill them.
“What the hell is this?” A vicious-looking man, bound up from head to toe, snarled as he kicked the person beside him. “Didn’t you say the players in this neighborhood were all cold and wouldn’t get involved?!”
Ye Kai stared at the man who got kicked to the ground, thinking. Then recognition flashed in his eyes. “Old Boss, this guy looks familiar… I remember now. Isn’t he the one we kicked out not long ago?”
With one hand, he hauled the man up and sneered. “And you actually dared to come back.”
The man started shaking violently. Warm liquid ran down his pant legs and pooled on the ground, and the stench of urine spread through the air.
Ye Kai grimaced and tossed him away. “Disgusting.”
Just then, a heavyset middle-aged woman rushed out of the crowd and ran straight to the bound man.
“My son! What happened to you?” she wailed. “Don’t scare your mother! If something happens to you, how am I supposed to live?”
Ye Kai looked utterly speechless. Anyone watching might have thought he’d beaten the man half to death.
“Hey, hey, Auntie,” he said, trying to keep his temper. “Be reasonable. I didn’t do anything.”
After all the crying, the woman whipped her gaze toward Ye Kai, glaring like she wanted to tear him apart.
“This is all your fault!” she shouted. “We just want to go home! What right do you have to stop us?”
Ye Kai laughed in anger at her shamelessness. “Why we kicked you out—you know perfectly well. You ranted in the homeowner group chat every day, and then you tried to team up with outsiders to rob the entire neighborhood. Who gave you the nerve?”
The woman’s face went pale. Fear flashed across her eyes. She’d only discussed this with her brother from her natal family—how did they know?
“And besides,” Ye Kai continued, voice sharp, “is this really your home? You’re just a nanny. The moment the master left, you moved in like you owned the place. Tell lies long enough, and you start believing them yourself.”
“That’s my home!” she screamed, louder and louder, as if volume could substitute for truth.
To everyone else, she was nothing but a clown.
Jiang Xin walked over and looked down at the captives. More than a dozen were players, and there were over thirty ordinary people—armed, too.
“You really think highly of us,” he said flatly. “You gathered this many people.”
The vicious man snorted, acting like a hero facing execution. “The winner takes all. Do what you want!”
Jiang Xin picked up a gun from the ground, loaded it with practiced ease, and pressed the muzzle to the man’s forehead. “So fearless,” he said. “Should I praise you?”
The man froze. The gun trembled slightly in Jiang Xin’s hand, and the truth became obvious—the man wasn’t fearless at all.
The others started begging immediately. Some claimed they were forced. Some claimed they knew nothing. Everyone had an excuse.
Jiang Xin lowered the gun and turned to Ye Kai. “Did you call the police?”
Ye Kai nodded. “Already did. When they heard there were guns, they took it very seriously. They said they’d arrive soon.”
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, sirens sounded in the distance.
Not long after, Ling Mo heard her doorbell ring. She opened the door to find Ye Kai standing there.
“I’m returning the dogs,” he said quietly.
She let Big Black and Little Black in. Then she asked, “So it’s settled? I heard sirens outside. You called the police?”
She’d assumed Jiang Xin and Ye Kai would handle it directly. That was how stories usually went.
Ye Kai looked at her like she’d asked something strange. “Of course we handed them over to the police. We’re law-abiding citizens.”
Ling Mo could only stare.
Ye Kai’s expression turned serious. “Besides, players are scarce now. After every game, another batch gets eliminated. If we just kill them, that’s a waste. Better to let the authorities squeeze whatever value they can out of them.”
Ling Mo understood.
After seeing Ye Kai off, she fed Big Black and Little Black, then led them upstairs.
On the second floor, she put both dogs into her pocket space—and then stepped into it herself.
Aside from the marrow-cleansing fruit, all the other special fruits had ripened one after another.
Ling Mo didn’t leave ripe fruit hanging on the branches. Instead, she built a warehouse specifically to store these fruits with special effects.
Both the medicine fruit and the enhancement fruit needed to be taken long-term.
After harvesting the special trees, she gathered another batch of fruits, vegetables, and grain.
She also checked the lake and the small ocean. The fish were thriving—each one plump and strong.
On her way out, she glanced at the warehouse packed so full of assorted organs it was nearly overflowing. She’d sold plenty lately, but compared to the total supply, it was barely a dent.
Alright. For the next few days, she’d keep selling organs—and upgrade the shop while she was at it. Ten shelves really weren’t enough.
After leaving her pocket space, Ling Mo began meditating. Life was calm for her, but outside, things were anything but.
Those people had chosen to attack at that moment not only because of that mother and son—there had also been a traitor inside the neighborhood.
So Jiang Xin led people overnight, kicked in the traitor’s door, and drove them out.

Ling Mo thought transmigrating meant a stress-free life—eat, sleep, and lie flat until the credits rolled.
Then she sat bolt upright on the verge of death and realized she’d grabbed the...
