Chapter 36: He Kicks Everyone He Catches-No Wonder He’s Been Single for 150 Years

Legion Commander Ye Ying reacted like a man about to lose face in front of the entire empire.

“This subordinate wasn’t demanding people,” he insisted reflexively. “This subordinate believes that among all one hundred and six academies in the empire, every cadet’s first choice is First Legion.”

“If you don’t believe me,” he pressed, “ask that pure human little female. She’ll definitely be willing to come to First Legion, become one of my troops, and let me train her!”

Chong Ming’s golden eyes slid to him-cold and razor-sharp.

“Legion Commander Ye,” he said, voice mild enough to be dangerous, “the championship has been going less than fifteen minutes, and you’ve already handed over the First Legion banner.”

Legion Commander Ye Ying blinked. “…What?”

Eight stragglers. One instructor captured. That wasn’t the end of the world. His people were already closing in; eight kids should’ve been easy.

Chong Ming didn’t even bother looking up. He spoke as if he could read the screens with his eyelids.

“Eleven instructors attempted a two-sided containment. None of them caught a single straggler. At this rate, the eight will reach the field in two minutes and wait for you.”

Legion Commander Ye Ying’s face went rigid. He whipped his gaze to the screen-

-and the feed vanished with a tap of Chong Ming’s finger.

Legion Commander Ye Ying: “…”

Adjutant Ai closed his lightbrain and reported evenly. “Your Highness, the footage has been shared with the other twenty-nine legions.”

“The Second Legion has raised the First Legion banner.”

“The First Legion, led by Legion Commander Ye, is now ranked Thirtieth Legion.”

Legion Commander Ye Ying’s eyes went round as coins. “When the hell-”

Laughter poured into his earpiece from the shared channel.

“Thank you, Legion Commander Ye, for your generous gift. Second Legion has finally raised the First Legion banner.”

“Don’t worry, Legion Commander Ye. We will hold the First Legion banner with pride and become a shining example for all of you.”

“Hahaha! I’m not Thirtieth Legion anymore! Legion Commander Ye saved me. Want me to send you a little heart?”

“Hahaha-eight stragglers. I’ve never seen eight fish slip through in one go. Whether it’s training troops or training academy kids, that’s a new record.”

“Legion Commander Ye really set the tone. Everyone clap and encourage him to stay at the bottom forever.”

Legion Commander Ye Ying’s face flashed green, then white.

“Enough,” he snapped, and cut the shared channel. Then he saluted Chong Ming sharply. “Commander-in-Chief, this subordinate will return to my command ship and direct operations to reclaim the First Legion banner and honor.”

Chong Ming lifted a hand in casual dismissal. “Safe travels.”

Legion Commander Ye Ying turned-and froze.

The foremost screen in the room switched to a live feed of the Royal Military Academy’s main field.

Aside from the eleven instructors closing from the southwest, there was no obstruction anywhere else.

Jiang Tea Tea’s squad moved like a streak. Their speed spiked close to two hundred kilometers per hour. Less than five kilometers became less than two minutes.

They hit the field like a storm.

Sui Xuan Chu tossed their bound instructor trophy onto the instructor stand. Then he dropped to the ground and finally started breathing hard.

Yan Yu and Cheng Xiao Ting looked fine. With blink ability and gale ability, bursts like that were nothing.

Huang Da Zhuang looked like he’d crawled out of a war. His beast form couldn’t even break a hundred kilometers per hour. Keeping up had nearly snapped his teeth. He sprawled on the grass in beast form, mouth open, tongue lolling, panting like his lungs were on fire.

Zhang Ting Zhou and Cheng Lin Yue had been carried; they shifted back into human form without a problem.

Jiang Tea Tea pressed a hand to her stomach and breathed slow, half annoyed at her own body-only twenty percent magic power-and half cursing Chong Ming’s Big Golden Dragon ancestors eighteen generations over.

He’d kicked her so hard that even a sprint like this still made her ache.

“Sister Tea,” Cheng Lin Yue asked, hurrying closer, “are you okay? Does your stomach hurt?”

The others looked at her too, startled. “What’s wrong? Did you cramp?”

“A pure human female with no ability ran here nearly in step with us… Sister Tea, you’re terrifying.”

Jiang Tea Tea waved the thin branch. “I’m fine. I got kicked by your male idol, Chong Ming, a while ago. I’m not fully healed.”

Sui Xuan Chu rolled across the grass in a lazy flip and landed beside her, eyes narrowing. “He kicked you once and you’re still not healed?”

“Not fully.”

Sui Xuan Chu clicked his tongue. “He’s ruthless. No wonder he’s been single for 150 years and can’t find a single female. He kicks everyone like he’s kicking troops-no tenderness at all.”

“Any female who marries him will have to sleep with both eyes open. Otherwise she’ll get kicked to death in her sleep and won’t even know how it happened.”

He looked skyward, thoroughly satisfied.

“Serves him right.”
