Chapter 218
Chapter 218: In Front of Me, You’re a Soft-Bellied Coward—What Secrets Could You Have?
Lang Yin Feng’s body shook like a sieve. “Tea Tea, my good daughter… what Lang Bai Yue? I don’t know what you’re saying. Dad doesn’t understand.”
He swallowed hard, his voice turning pleading. “Save dad. Please. Save me.”
“If you rescue me,” he insisted, “I can push your ability even higher. I can make you even more beautiful.”
“You have a wish, someone you want—dad can make it happen. Just save me.”
Jiang Tea Tea laughed, the sound light and empty. “Lang Bai Yue, even if you’re a thousand years old with trillions hidden away, you still can’t compare to Commander-in-Chief Chong Ming.”
“With my ability and his favor,” she said, her eyes gleaming, “if I tell him today I want the most advanced laboratory in the star system, tomorrow I’ll open my eyes and see it.”
“If I say I want the most beautiful gems in the M31 Star System, tomorrow at noon they’ll be delivered into my hands.”
“If I ask for his scales,” she added casually, “he’ll pluck them out without hesitation.”
She leaned back, amused. “I can get whatever I want. Why would I bite the bait you’re dangling in front of me?”
Lang Yin Feng’s expression twisted. “He’s only good to you because you’re useful! What I give you is real!”
He tried again, frantic. “Dad left many, many treasures. Ten planets. Two seed planets. Eight mining planets.”
“Save dad,” he begged, eyes wild. “They’ll all be yours. All of them.”
Jiang Tea Tea’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “Lang Bai Yue. Everything in this world—including oneself—becomes dead matter when the time comes.”
“You’ve lived a thousand years against the natural laws of the M31 Star System.” Her voice softened into something close to pity. “That must have been exhausting.”
Lang Yin Feng snarled, his voice cracking. “I’m not Lang Bai Yue! I’m Lang Yin Feng! I’m Lang Yin Feng!”
Jiang Tea Tea pressed her finger down on his brow again. “If you keep being stubborn, I’ll take your memories myself.”
Lang Yin Feng tried to speak—
“Shh.” Jiang Tea Tea hushed him, looking straight into his eyes.
“Three minutes at most,” she said calmly. “That’s all it takes.”
Terror swallowed him whole.
He struggled hard enough that the shackles bit into flesh and bone. Dark blood trickled down his wrists and ankles.
He couldn’t move his head. He couldn’t open his mouth.
Outside the room, Ministry of Justice personnel held their breath, staring at Jiang Tea Tea with hungry eyes—like wolves who’d found something precious.
At the Military Department, Chong Ming watched her without blinking.
Lang Yin Feng had miscalculated.
He’d chosen the wrong bait.
She didn’t want what he offered. She didn’t care about him.
To her, he wasn’t a feast.
He was dust.
In less than three minutes, Jiang Tea Tea lifted her hand away. She returned to her seat, crossed one leg over the other, and pulled wet wipes from her storage button. She wiped the blood off her fingers slowly, casually.
Lang Yin Feng’s chest heaved. His wrinkles seemed deeper. His skin hung looser, like something had been drained out of him, leaving only a shell.
Jiang Tea Tea watched him, cool amusement in her eyes, as if she were watching a monkey embarrass itself.
Lang Yin Feng suddenly spat fresh blood, rage flaring through his exhaustion. “Jiang Tea Tea. From the day you were born and I tested your genes, I should’ve killed you.”
“If you didn’t exist, I wouldn’t be here. I would still be the White Wolf Clan chief. I’d still have my lab. I’d still have my territory.”
“I would have led the White Wolf Clan to the top of the star system!”
Jiang Tea Tea lifted her brows. “And then?”
Lang Yin Feng choked, then forced the fantasy out. “Then the White Wolf Clan would become the greatest clan. My longevity research would be worshipped by nobles and the rich.”
“I would become the best researcher in the M31 Star System. The best clan chief. The richest beastfolk.” His eyes burned with delusion. “Everyone would revere me and worship me!”
Jiang Tea Tea kept wiping her fingers. “You did become a top researcher. You strengthened the White Wolf Clan. You gained wealth.”
She looked up. “But you weren’t satisfied.”
“Your longevity plan had too many flaws,” she continued evenly. “Your drug only kept your body stable for less than a month.”
“You played a thousand-year game,” she said, eyes sharp. “You never would’ve been exposed if you hadn’t dragged me here. If I didn’t come, you’d die as Lang Yin Feng, and no one would ever know you were Lang Bai Yue.”
Lang Yin Feng stared at her, then—unbelievably—laughed, hoarse and crazed. “You’re incredible.”
“Even the commander-in-chief’s best hypnosis specialist couldn’t crack me. They couldn’t pull a single word from my mouth.”
“And you?” He laughed harder. “You came in, and in less than half an hour, you knew who I was. You took my memories.”
He inhaled, eyes bloodshot and fervent. “I thought I could live a thousand years. I thought I was my proudest experiment.”
“But now I see I was wrong,” he said, obsession thick in his voice. “My proudest experiment is you.”
“You,” he repeated, almost reverent. “The pure human little female I looked down on.”
