Chapter 222
Chapter 222: Fist Technique
The youthful voice, neither loud nor soft, echoed clearly in the ears of Zheng Shang Zong and his two companions.
For a moment, the three stood motionless in midair, suspended quietly in the pitch-black night, as only the gentle whisper of the evening breeze brushed softly past.
Suddenly, Zheng Shang Zong sharply spun around, his gaze shooting toward the rooftop of the Hundred Fragrance Pavilion.
There, seated atop the roof’s ridge, was Li Mu Sheng, his figure somewhat blurred by the darkness. He seemed to gaze calmly back at the trio.
“Who are you?” Zheng Shang Zong narrowed his eyes slightly, his voice edged with suspicion and the chill of deadly intent.
At this moment, the two elders from Fallen God Peak lifted their heads. Clearly recognizing Li Mu Sheng, their expressions instantly shifted, revealing surprise and caution as they asked:
“You?”
Hearing this, Zheng Shang Zong fixed his gaze on Li Mu Sheng, quietly locking onto him with his Qi current, then coldly questioned the elders beside him: “You know this person?”
Elder Shen furrowed his brow deeply. After hesitating briefly, he stared at Li Mu Sheng atop the pavilion, explaining, “He is one of those who intentionally caused trouble earlier at the Hundred Fragrance Pavilion.”
Zheng Shang Zong remained silent, intently scrutinizing Li Mu Sheng through the shadows of night. During their previous skirmish, none of them had noticed anyone hiding on the pavilion roof. Had Li Mu Sheng not voluntarily revealed himself, they would never have sensed his presence. For three Heavenly Union experts, this was nearly impossible to imagine. The distance was short enough that Li Mu Sheng should never have been able to evade their detection unnoticed.
Yet, after carefully observing him, Zheng Shang Zong found no trace of martial Qi emanating from Li Mu Sheng—he appeared entirely as an ordinary person with no martial cultivation whatsoever.
“Were you the one who just said you killed my younger brother, Zheng Zi?” Zheng Shang Zong’s face gradually hardened, barely suppressing the boiling fury within him.
At his words, the two Fallen God Peak elders grew even more wary, murmuring softly, “City Lord Zheng, this person seems unusual. We must not underestimate him.”
On the rooftop, Li Mu Sheng sat leisurely, casually glancing at them as he replied, “Indeed. Are you perhaps seeking revenge?”
Zheng Shang Zong’s fury erupted instantly, no longer restrained. With a fierce shout, he roared, “Very well!”
In an instant, the surrounding Qi of heaven and earth surged violently, flooding toward his arms like rivers pouring into the sea. His fists crackled fiercely, resonating like the clash of countless iron chains. Golden light pierced through the night sky around his arms, forming the silhouette of a towering mountain.
The air exploded with thunderous booms, the terrifying force of his fists churning violently, twisting into spiraling pillars of air that seemed to pierce straight to the heavens.
“Fist Suppressing Hundred Peaks! Die!” Zheng Shang Zong shouted angrily, striking toward Li Mu Sheng atop the pavilion. His left fist crashed down like a collapsing golden mountain; his right followed like a sacred peak crumbling to ruin.
Golden waves erupted from the mountain-like illusion formed by his fists, accompanied by thousands of fists’ shadows intertwining, cutting through the night sky with a fierce gale, directly targeting Li Mu Sheng.
Even stray punches unintentionally fell upon the streets below, gouging trenches several feet deep and sending clouds of dust spiraling upward.
The two Fallen God Peak elders did not strike, instead gathering their powerful martial Qi to support Zheng Shang Zong, vigilantly guarding their surroundings.
“What kind of fist technique is this? It’s full of holes.” Sitting calmly, Li Mu Sheng frowned slightly at the towering, mountainous illusion rushing toward him.
Then, gently flicking his finger, the raging Qi surrounding him suddenly froze. In an instant, the overwhelming force and golden mountain illusion vanished completely. Darkness returned undisturbed around Li Mu Sheng, with not even a single tile damaged beneath him.
Silence filled the night sky as though nothing had occurred.
The two elders standing guard were instantly alarmed, unable to comprehend how such a formidable attack had been effortlessly dissolved. Yet before they could fully grasp the situation, expressions of terror overtook their faces.
From the corners of their eyes, they caught sight of a sudden, bloody hole passing straight through Zheng Shang Zong’s head. His life rapidly drained away, and his rigid body plummeted downward into the trench carved into the street below. Even through the shadows, they could glimpse Zheng Shang Zong’s fierce expression, frozen in confusion, clearly unaware of how he had died.
Panic gripped the two elders instantly, causing them to turn hastily toward Li Mu Sheng atop the roof. Yet Li Mu Sheng sat as calmly as before, unaffected, as though the entire encounter had been utterly trivial.
Without hesitation, the elders desperately mobilized their Qi, preparing to flee. Yet, before they could move even slightly, their heads were similarly pierced in an instant. Terror etched onto their aged faces as life slipped swiftly away, their bodies falling silently downward.
After dispatching the three, Li Mu Sheng withdrew his gaze without further concern, murmuring thoughtfully, “You kill the younger one, then comes the elder. You kill the elder, then comes an even older one…such an old-fashioned story. But even if it’s cliché, it still works so well. A bunch of calabash brothers indeed…”
…
The terrifying force unleashed earlier by Zheng Shang Zong had been so overwhelming that everyone within Hundred Fragrance Pavilion fled in panic. Yet the frightening aura disappeared as quickly as it had appeared, leaving only eerie silence in mere breaths.
Still, no one dared approach, until martial experts from the City Lord’s mansion arrived. They discovered the corpses of Zheng Shang Zong and the two elders lying shockingly in the trenches beside the damaged street.
“City Lord!” A silver-haired old man crouched anxiously beside Zheng Shang Zong’s lifeless body, his expression filled with fury and dread as he observed the bloody hole neatly punctured through the forehead.
Swiftly scanning the area but finding nothing suspicious, the old man’s face grew even darker and grimmer. A martial expert capable of effortlessly killing three Heavenly Union experts clearly surpassed them by far.
“Just who could this be?” The silver-haired elder’s expression shifted rapidly. He urgently summoned another martial expert from the City Lord’s mansion, commanding sternly, “Immediately head to Hundred Refinement Peak to report this. It’s highly likely an expert from the Heavenly Brocade Guard has infiltrated Hundred Refinement City. You must personally inform the peak lord at once!”
